Mariah's 2001 soundtrack is currently #1 on iTunes in various countries including the United States!
The album originally peaked at #7 on the Billboard 200 and was certified Platinum.

Woo an album full of bops! Lead The Way, Reflections, and Never Too Far are some of her best ballads too. Glitter managed to get the resurrection Bionic never could. Poor dat.

According to Billboard, the album is expected to sell over 3,000 copies this week (its highest one-week total since 2002).

I became a lamb during the Glitter after falling in love with the movie and the single "Don't Stop (Funkin' 4 Jamaica)". I love her femininity.

I own the "Loverboy" vinyl with the David Morales and MJ Cole Remixes. It's phenomenal fan art.

^A #JusticeForGlitter social-media campaign, noting that it was $4.99 at iTunes, with a link provided. The total shows, though, the limit in numbers with just sales from iTunes. Hopefully the final figure will be a little higher.
The album really has a bad rap because of the movie.

My favorite Mariah album.
When I first tried to get into her music in the mid-2000s, I found her albums up to that point a mix of quality and filler, but Glitter was the standout of being solid from beginning to end. "All My Life," "Didn't Mean to Turn You On," "Lead The Way," "Twister," and "Want You" but really everything were just great!

What caused this resurgence? Having taste becoming a requirement again in society.

It's her most uneven work by far and at the bottom of her albums for me. A half-amazing/half-crap situation. The ballads are all top notch. "Lead The Way" is such a huge moment. "Never Too Far" sounds like some long lost 70's love movie theme. "Reflections" is super personal and raw. And "Twister" is so pretty (right in line with "Petals" and "Sunflowers," love that little trio). "All My Life" is one of those Mariah album cuts that deserves more recognition, especially from her. Such a killer 80's R&B throwback. And "Want You" is very much the same, SEX.
If only the rest of the album lived up to those tracks. "Loverboy" remains an abomination. I don't like Cameo, I don't like "Candy" and the sample is so clunky and heavy it weighs the song down. And it's probably my least favorite Mariah vocal ever, she sounds so sick on it. Still curious about the original version with "Firecracker." I do use the club mixes though, the MJ Cole and Morales mixes are cute. I'm not nostalgic for that early 2000's Ja Rule sound, so "If We," (while harmless) is always skipped. I've always been a huge fan of Cherrelle's "DMTTYO," but Mariah's version is so faithful it's pointless. "Don't Stop" has dated badly and I have to be in a certain mood to make it through any Mystikal song these days. And Busta Rhymes' hype-man bulls**t completely ruins "Last Night A DJ Saved My Life." Like WTF were they thinking with that mess? It's a toss the radio out the window level of annoying.
I'm always glad to see Mariah get some shine. I just wish this whole justice campaign was focused on one of her albums that really deserved it, because this one ain't it. The highlights are amazing though, so I guess there's that! And it was such a negative time for her, anything making it more positive is a plus.

Do you like the video edit any better? I think if the ‘campaign’ had been for any other album, it may have been nice but wouldn’t have had the same media impact. Glitter is her most notorious low moment in terms of her music catalog. People wouldn’t have cared if Memoirs or something had another little moment in the sun.

Unfortunately the edit does not fix the Busta Rhymes sh*tting all over Mariah issue.

I agree about Busta on Last Night a DJ Saved My Life. Not only is he unnecessary, but he is LOUD in the mix. Love the song, but that detracts from it considerably.
It's little things like that that keep this from being a masterpiece - fixable things. Like, the Nate Dogg verse in If We. Why on earth does it sound so weird? It sounds literally phoned in. Mariah should have just sung that verse.

Mariah should have just sung that verse. The sound mixing and so forth for the albums she did in Capri are notoriously bad (Rainbow, Glitter, Charmbracelet). Like on “Against all Odds” she sounds far away from the mic. I would love to get any or all of those albums in remastered versions.

She's doing a Glitter medley ("Never Too Far," "Last Night A DJ Saved My Life," "Loverboy," and "Didn't Mean To Turn You On") on the Caution tour.

Okay, here's my take on this. The album wasn't completely a disaster. There were some gems there, but those shining gems were mostly the ballads. I think the ballads had completely outshine the uptempo ones by far. "Loverboy" and "Didn't Mean To Turn You On" are my only favorite dance tracks.

It looks like she purchased all the rights to the album. The label is now listed as "MARIAH".

A Mariah classic, I love it now even more than I did in 2001. Although Rainbow was my first Mariah album, this was my first Mariah "era", so it will always hold a special place to me.

I like that she experimented with or did her own take on 80s funk and R&B. My go-to cuts are "Loverboy" and the remix, "Don't Stop (Funkin 4 Jamaica)", "All My Life" and "Didn't Mean To Turn You On". "Never Too Far" is the best ballad. "Want You" reminds me of "My All/Stay Awhile" maybe because of the SOS/Loose Ends influence.
"If We" and "Last Night A DJ Saved My Life" could've been better if the former was just a collaboration with Ja Rule (leave Nate out) and the other had Busta just rapping instead of him adlibbing all over the song.

The original version of "Loverboy" (with the "Firecracker" sample) and a cover of Irene Cara's "Out Here On My Own" recorded in 2000 but left off this project are now available on The Rarities.

I've completely redone Glitter to make it an album covering the '80s club scene. I only included 1 ballad, and put it at the end as the comedown from a night out.
1. "Loverboy" (Firecracker version) 2. "Didn't Mean to Turn You On" 3. "sweetheart" 4. "If You Should Ever Be Lonely" 5. "Last Night A DJ Saved My Life" (video edit) 6. "My All / Stay A Little While, Child" 7. "Want You" 8. "Just Be Good to Me" 9. "Don't Stop" (interlude - Mariah only) 10. "All My Life" 11. "Out Here On My Own"

If this wasn't spreading her energy thin with a movie and label battle, and a declining public image, I think she could have really polished up the music better.
It not being available for so many years kept me from really immersing myself into a Mariah album like I normally do.
The ballads are all stellar though; at that time, she could do no wrong with the slow songs.
Now that I have this available on streaming, I can put this on shuffle and just enjoy it as the period piece soundtrack concept project it was intended to be, and it at least succeeds for me in that respect.
