Artist: Dylan Scott Single: “Nothing To Do Town” Writers: Dylan Scott, Cole Taylor, Matthew Alderman Label: Curb Records Impact Date: TBA Release Date: November 16th, 2018
Dylan Scott’s new single off new material will drop this Friday. A radio release will happen in the following weeks, either December or the start of the 2019 year.
Fairly uptempo track and the title is pretty self explanatory.

Finally. I'm excited to hear this and hope it gets his sophomore album out. I've worn the first one out lol

Color me intrigued. "My Girl" and "Hooked" weren't world-changing but enjoyable enough. The song title gives me hope.

Cole Taylor not John Taylor as writer. I've heard this, it's pretty solid. I don't think it's a game changer for him though. Long slow climb like his other singles in all probability.

Boring song by a young guy with a lifeless voice about a small town? Just call it a number 1 already.

Yikes! I did like "Crazy Over Me" but his other singles come nowhere close to that.
Hoping he goes the way of BroCash and fails to make an impact with this overproduced generic nonsense...

Yeah, I was hoping for more. I've heard worse, but, like mentioned above, this is super generic. I usually like 'town' songs, but this doesn't move the needle much for me.

I expected to dislike this more. It’s catchy enough, and better than his last single at least.

I don't understand any appeal from this guy. None of his music has been interesting in the slightest, his voice isn't anything special, and he even just looks like an average looking white guy. Perhaps the most remarkably "meh" country artist in recent years

Love his voice and I dig a lot of his music, so I'm looking forward to another album release from him. This single doesn't grab me as well as his last few have though on first listen, and I noticeably dislike the little staccato slowing down of the melody near the end of the chorus as it goes into the hook. It's catchy and enjoyable enough on the whole and I can see radio taking to it (albeit painfully slowly because Curb Records), but I'm sure he'll have better on the album.

Two adds this week for "Nothing To Do Town". I'd assume these are early adds.

The instrumentation and production on this one is dreadful. I HATE that bro-country beat. I've always liked his voice and this one has a decent melody otherwise, but as it stands, it's not one I'll be revisiting.

Second most added song of the week with 39 stations, 48 total stations by add week.
I don't think I will ever get this guys appeal, his voice is painfully boring, the lyrics are so basic, and ij general his music sounds like leftover material from the bro country era of 2013 and 2014. Regardless, "Nothing to Do Town" is looking to be off to a good start so far.

For me his voice is really captivating. And while it is true some of the material has been kinda lackluster (Nothing To Do Town, Hooked), his voice definitely makes up for it imho. Hopefully he starts releasing more quality material cause I know he has it in him.

It really elevates middle-of-the-road material to something much more listenable for me, though I do wish he'd get some stronger more hard-hitting songs because right now his discography does have a lot of fluff in it, especially as far as his singles go. Maybe if Curb can turn this one into another hit for him, he'll have an opportunity to release something riskier as his momentum at radio builds up.

I agree, his voice is his best asset. There are other country artists I prefer to Dylan, but when it comes to voices, Dylan definitely has one of the better ones. I am usually ok with his single choices, but this one particularly, is kinda too middle of the road. Nothing really makes it stand out. I still wouldn't mind if it becomes a hit, especially because of what indulgecountry said, it might allow him to release riskier stuff.

The EP did 10k pure sales and 13k SPS first week, outperforming his debut album (9k pure sales and 11k SPS first week).

25 weeks on the chart and still only a BB peak of #38. Maybe they are going for some kinda record here of longest time on chart without hitting top 30. This just isn’t catching on for radio and that says a lot because it seems like a song that would easily fit in with radio.

This song is essentially dead in the water and should probably be gone before the Christmas holidays. This song just got lost in the shuffle hardcore and never recovered since.

Surprised this one didn't react better with the country radio audience. It's exactly the kind of song they usually like. My brother (let's call him "Beta" for easy reference), whose tastes usually align almost perfectly with the GP's tastes, literally loves this one. I didn't care for it tbh. It's just boring and too generic. Maybe there's an over-saturation of generic radio fodder from males. He needs to take the rest of the year off and then come back with something unique and fun some time next year. Honestly, Alpha can see "Ball Cap" doing well at radio. It's a good mix of modern and traditional and super catchy.

43 weeks charting and not top 30 yet on Billboard Airplay. Hasn’t gotten to the top 30 on Mediabase either. The 43 weeks ties Parmalee’s “Roots” for weeks charting without reaching the top 30.
Curb’s staff loves propping up how long “Love Like Crazy”, “Hooked” and “Caught Up In the Country” spent charting. This one however is not going any further and the amount of money spent promoting this has been ungodly.

They need to drop this. I'm one of the few on the forum who actually seems to like Dylan Scott and his music, but I never cared for this single from him and its downright embarrassing how long this one has been on the charts without doing anything. They need to move on to something that radio will actually embrace, because they're just wasting time and money.

Would be really interested to see how one of his Keith Whitley covers would do as a radio single at this moment..
