#9 ~ "Little Drummer Boy" Ft. Rebecca Lynn Howard
72 Points
Highest Rank: 2 (castleoblivion26 , bboat11 ) Lowest Rank: 13 (tim )
castleoblivion26 ~ 2 bboat11 ~ 2 Cody Wants Out... ~ 3 Troublemaker ~ 4 toomuchboy ~ 8 .indulgecountry ~ 8 ClevelandRox ~ 9 someguy ~ 11 Kanenrá:ke ~ 12 tim ~ 13
the hint was Greer Garson, an actress from the 40's and 50's who narrated the Christmas TV special based on the Little Drummer Boy song.
I have never cared for this song my entire childhood up until I heard Lonestar's version of the song, though I didn't like that version enough to actually listen to it every year. This version is the one I listen to every year and so I wish it had lasted longer.
up next at #8 2 people are going to lose their #1! Though some #13 rankings will also leave us here...
Here is a hint for #8:

Sorry for ranking this so low, I didn't know it was special to some people. :( It was just genuinely my least favorite.
I think I know whats next! :(

I think I know whats next! :( Not your #1 :) I wouldn't worry about it, I like the song and wish it had lasted longer but this is about where I expected it to fall so it's all good. This is why I love these Rankdowns because we all have taste and different opinions.

As I mentioned in Jo Dee’s Christmas album rankdown I lean more towards traditional Christmas songs/hymns and “O Little Town of Bethlehem” is one of the songs on Patty’s album that I’ll come back around to again and again for the holidays. The first version I ever heard was probably from Elvis’ Christmas Album (this was also made into a duet with Karen Fairchild on Elvis’ Christmas Duets album!). I love the simplicity that Patty brings to this and it makes for such as soothing listen. I thought “Christmas Day At My House” was rather cute and I found myself humming along to it...thought it would get more support here as well. “Little Drummer Boy” is a Christmas song I rarely ever find myself putting on so it was an easy last place for me. If I were to pick a favorite version it would probably be Alabama’s.

Holy cow, this rankdown is literally the biggest mess... I have no idea how it managed to go so wrong so fast! This exit order feels 100% random. The 3 songs that are left feel 100% random. The fact that no song in the entire top 3 even received a single #1 vote has to be some kind of new record (@walker9), and I'm not sure if that is impressive or sad...
I don't really care what wins, because all 3 songs are right smack in the middle of the album in terms of quality. All the best songs are gone, but thankfully all the worst songs are gone too. I guess I'll go ahead and throw my support behind "Christmas Time's A Comin'".

Welp, an entirely random finish to an entirely random rankdown. "Away In A Manger" is nice and all, but it's never been one of my favorite Christmas songs. Martina's is the gold standard, but this is definitely a worthy rendition as well! "Silent Night" is a little bit better of a song overall... ...Hang on, wait a second... I just looked at the point totals. Was this a tie for the win, castleoblivion26??!?!? That's super rare!!!

Away in a manger wins because its highest rank was 2 while silent nights highest was a 3. It also happened in my Tina Turner rankdown

I would've been fine either way with "Christmas Time's A Comin'" or "Away in a Manger" winning, so I'm happy it was one of them. Thanks for hosting, castleoblivion26!

Yeah, this rankdown was quite the mess. Quite disappointed with the winner. :/

I had no idea Patty Loveless recorded the song “Blue Is Not a Word” that George Strait initially recorded on his 1985 album Something Special. Excited to hear her version and I’ll try my best not to compare the two!

Ohhhh thanks for the reminder I actually thought I sent in my list already but then remembered I was surprised what songs ended up in my top three so wanted to sit back and give the album another listen before submitting. I’ll get this in soon.
