And with that number 3 reveal, it HAS to be number 3 right, the list has lost me lol. Somebody that I Used to Know is the ONLY song in 2010s that's year-end #1 on sales, radio AND streaming (which means On-demand chart in 2012). It's funny that you guys freak out over this. Even Uptown Funk was "only" year-end #2 on streaming. Somebody that I Used to Know's peak weekly sale was nearly 550k (542k), and it's not debut or holiday week. If you check out my other thread, its peak point's over 70k (bigger than Shape of You, Closer and Despacito's peak). Spring-Summer 2012 was very competitive with newcomers. It could comfortably hit 12 weeks at #1 during a slow era. Its 24 weeks in top 10's really impressive in 2012, I mean, in 2012, streaming's accounting for like, 20% of Hot 100 points, so it's hard to have that longevity in the peak of iTunes era. So of course using weighted real points it has an advantage. Billboard's chart-run based system put it #6 of the decade, real points put it 3 spots higher than that. You guys disregard the song probably because it doesn't have that much recurrent numbers and it's not tied to a huge album or a big name. But it still came to decade-end #3. Sometimes numbers are the way they are. |

With it fully explained, Number 3 makes more sense still a little jarring but whatever I guess
Both have pretty strong cases for number one but I'm gonna go with Shape Of You, its lead on streaming is massive and started at the top of the charts and never fell below 25.

No methodology is perfect, unless your Billboard everyone's is subjective, and I appreciate the OP's attempt to make a real points decade chart. Thank you for doing this, I loved your analysis!
I for one thought "Shape of You" would be #1 as well - but it was clear that those were the top 2!

When you look at their chart-runs, yes "Shape Of You" had more longevity in the lower regions of the chart, but Uptown Funk was HUGE at it's peak (21 weeks in the top 3 vs. 16 weeks for Shape Of You)

It was a user's attempt to compute a decade chart based on REAL points - Billboard's decade chart uses an inverse-point system (so a song can in reality have more real points but be lower in the decade chart - ex: Hello's first 3 weeks at #1 was stronger than average but that wouldn't be reflected in an inverse-point system) |

these threads are pretty useless because by far the biggest factor in making all-time lists is what multiplier you choose for each time-period.
interestingly, PRA is always underrepresented in terms of “real points” (including billboard’s year end list) because of formula changes that messed with its points

Well multipliers this thread uses are based on my analysis of stability of chart runs in different eras
Formula change in 2012 only messed with a small fragment of PRA's points. It's not top 3 because it didn't have big weeks
