John Prine just doesn't have a very good voice :/
That could be said of several of her collaborators, honestly, lol. LAW really pulled the weight on these duets.

before I post #25 I must say how disappointed I am to see this next song out so early. It is my #6 and is a song I have loved for a long time!

I can't say I'm terribly surprised by this placement for "Never, Ever, and Forever", because I thought it might be done dirty. That being said, this was quite an epic discovery for me! I love the way that they sound together, plus the way that the song gradually builds into quite an impressive intensity over the course of its length. It definitely didn't help that the YouTube video for this was like the poorest possible quality though. Had this been on a studio album, and widely available in high quality, I feel like it would have easily been in the top half of any of her albums. I guess maybe a different duet partner would have helped too, because Mark Wills doesn't really seem to be much of a Pulse favorite.
Anyway, definitely disappointing. Although now all the obvious filler seems to have left, so it's gonna be pretty painful from here on out!

Anyway, regarding "There Is A God", I knew it would be polarizing, but I was hoping it could at least sneak into the top 20... So it's just barely behind what I was hoping for. I personally prefer Reba's version of this. She has an oomph to her low range that Lee Ann simply doesn't have, which makes the verses much more powerful to me. She also changes the melody a tiny bit heading into the second chorus, with her delivery of "Hear the doctor say 'we can't explain it, but the cancer's gone!'" and the way she delivers it honestly lightens up the mood of the entire song! The way Lee Ann performs that line it leaves no impact whatsoever, and kinda kills the energy heading into the second chorus. Still, I love Lee Ann's version too! Obviously since it's my #5 ![:cold:](http://i.imgur.com/I0dmphF.gif) It should have done MUCH better.

"Till The End" is boring. I expected it to bow out right around the middle, so this feels about right. It'll be interesting to see how it does in his album series. I bet Lee Ann's name will help boost it in the album rankdown more than Alan's name helped boost it here.

"There Is a God" was done dirty as I expected. It came close to top 20 at least, which is what I had hoped for it. :/ Anyway, regarding "There Is A God", I knew it would be polarizing, but I was hoping it could at least sneak into the top 20... I don't particularly care for Reba's version at all and think LAW's delivery is leaps and bounds above hers, and that switch up on the cancer line is one of the things I disliked about Reba's take on the song. There's something so smooth and wistful about how LAW sings the song, that line included, and Reba turning it into a random glory note just kinda derails the song's momentum for me. I'd give LAW's an A and Reba's is like a C- for me, lol.

"Dreaming My Dreams" is a really pretty song. I liked Lee Ann's take on it a lot. It was a breath of fresh air at the end of the playlist after that huge pile of floppy hymn duets with living corpses. Martina will always be my go-to, but LAW does a very nice job with it. I feel like it's just a great song that I would enjoy with just about anyone singing it ![](http://i.imgur.com/2smy76v.gif)

This whole vinyl-only EP is pretty great. I enjoy how she really strips it all back and makes it sound all old school with just her and a guitar. Lots of haunting vocal moments in these songs. Still, this placement feels just about right for "Trouble In Mind".

Martina's is the best but Lee Ann's and Patty's are both excellent!

I’ve been following along with each reveal but have kind of been caught up with politics this week. I promise to catch up tomorrow though! While I’m not surprised to see “Trouble In Mind” make the top 20, I am a bit surprised by some of the higher rankings for this especially given that bboat11 for example considers this a much better listen than “Till the End” ![:dead:](http://ruadventures.com/forum/Smileys/animated/smiley_resurrect_grave.gif)

I'm shocked that "Honky Cat" managed to do this well! I do enjoy it, but it is just such a weird song, with such a weird title. I expected it to be more polarizing.
