I want to discuss the December 8-dated Hot 100 because it's much more exciting that the Dec. 1 chart and I don't want to do this on the Dec. 1 thread so... Sorry, I know rimetm is better with words to open the thread haha... This is the Hot 100 top 10 for the post-Thanksgiving/Black Friday week last year: 1. rockstar -8.5% 2. Havana -13.7% 3. Perfect +1.4% (the reason it gained in points was the Beyoncé remix being released in the last day of the tracking week) 4. Gucci Gang -17.5% 5. Thunder -15.3% 6. Too Good At Goodbyes -3.8% 7. Bodak Yellow -24.6% 8. No Limit -5.3% 9. What Lovers Do -11.1% 10. Feel It Still -16.8% Looking at the first two days of Spotify data, this year we'll have those huge drops again and because the top 10 already is super weak this might be one of the weakest weeks points-wise of all-time.

Do you know what the weakest week is of all time? I think it's impossible to answer. I know summer 2000 was really weak for #1s (Maria Maria, Try Again...) but I'm not sure about the overall chart. This year, looking only at the top 10, the weakest week was four weeks ago (GLY's 7th week at #1) when the total points for the songs in the top 10 was only 253k.

I'm strictly guessing but is this post-Thanksgiving turkey the result of radio switching to Xmas songs, (and to a lesser extent streaming, too, which is introducing holiday playlists)?

On radio, only adult oriented songs are affected by Christmas songs, meanwhile streaming and sales have huge drops for all the songs except the X-mas ones. It's a combination of people not having time to consume music while they are buying on Black Friday with that Christmas feeling after the Thanksgiving. Thank to the great alexanderao on ATRL, this is the comparison for the third Friday of November and the Black Friday (fourth Friday) on Spotify since 2015:

Sorry I haven’t been able to open threads lately, had Thanksgiving vacation eating into my promptness. Had I started the thread, it’d probably read like:
It’s that Z-Hit?
Throwing its hat into the number one race ring once more is ZEZE, starting off the tracking week with a new music video while remaining strong on on-demand and slowly picking up radio support. However, will this bloom for the week or will it instead flounder at its current pace, granting TUN an easy in to a fourth week? Time will tell.
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas
If it doesn’t return to the charts for the 12/1 week, All I Want for Christmas is You is all but guaranteed a re-entry this week. Heading into the top 10 of sales, going top 40 on Apple Music’s live charts, and racking up recurrent airplay like a champ, it’s got all metrics covered. Could we be looking at a head start into challenging for a new peak, perhaps with a top 20 position this week?
No big album bombs or proxy effects of note so far, so I don’t have as many topics as usual to start off with.

What are the odds we get a new number one this week? I’d say 80-90% tbh. Congrats Halsey.

I feel like TUN is going to have a similar run to WRWWR, where it debuts at #1, stays in the top 10 for a bit and then plummets.

If it’s not gonna be thank u, next then it’s gonna be SICKO MODE (according to the Billboard article).

"Thank u, next" is back at the top of Spotify's Today's top hits. They don't wanna spend a week at #2, I see.
