I was listening to Martina’s newest Christmas album quite a bit leading up to Christmas Day and found myself coming back around to “My Favorite Things” quite a bit more than I thought I would. I think I probably would rank this a bit higher now, but this song always seems a bit divisive no matter who is performing it so not surprised to see it out this soon.
As for which version I prefer I always go to Lorrie Morgan’s!

In the year of #metoo and all the drama of this song being dropped from radio playlists in 2018, "Baby, It's Cold Outside" is not a song I expected to do too well here. However, I don't think it would have done any better than this even if it weren't for those outside influences. This has never been one of my favorite Christmas songs. And as solid as this rendition of it is, it can still get kinda annoying. Not one that I will miss.

We jump over to her new Christmas album for our second elimination! This version of "My Favorite Things" is oddly slow and mechanical, and I am not at all surprised to see it get tanked either. The other version from earlier in her career is WAY preferable, imo. Still, LBTrocks manages to lose a #4 already! Apparently the rankdown world isn't even going to give him a break for the holidays! I'll stick with Brand New Year by SHeDAISY tho, the only holiday music I purposely choose to listen to, although Martina did capture the essence of the holiday very well! NOTHING will compare to the original of this though.

Once again, we switch back to her newest album for our 4th loss of the rankdown. "Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer" is a song that barely contended for the top 20 a couple times, but otherwise was destined to finish pretty poorly. I'm not exactly surprised either, because this is also not one of my go-to Christmas songs! In fact, I find it annoying a lot of the time. However, while I am still getting used to this new album, I do think that she managed to make a cover that I will enjoy revisiting through the years. It's a little more laid-back, and I think that gives this version a bit of inherent charm that is usually lacking for whatever reason in other versions.

22. Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer Skipping ahead are we? Yep! Just assume that we lost "Jingle Bells" 5 more times before getting to "Rudolph", as tim predicted

One more song remains to finish off our bottom 5! Up to this point, the losses have been equal between White Christmas and It's The Holiday Season. We have not yet, however, dived into the list of songs that are not on either album!! The first non-album casualty finally comes next

This version of "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" was not one I expected to do especially well here. It had the double-distinction of being both a feature song, AND a live song, which meant two strikes against it that most other songs in this rankdown did not have... I have always felt that this song was a little unnecessary. If it was just Martina it would be better, but Chris Mann always comes in right as she has an opportunity to really start belting it out. Which I guess I can't blame him for; after all it's his Christmas special. Still, Martina does this song so incredibly on her own, it's always a bit of a let-down to hear her only get to partially sing it. They do sound great together though! It was enough to make .indulgecountry put this in his top 5 and kansasmeetsmo put it in her top 10!

“Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas” is one of my favorite Christmas songs and there are quite a few versions that I listen to each year, but I just couldn’t get past Chris Mann’s voice on this and could barely make it through the entire duet without wanting to skip it.

I think Rudolph was my 2nd highest song from her new Christmas album so I am sad that it is out before a lot of the other tracks (I'm not fond of the new album at all). If any of the songs from that album make the Top 10 over anything from her White Christmas album I'll be angry. They don't come close to being as good as her original Christmas album.
Also, only 1 version of "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" deserves to go far and that is DEFINITELY not this live version that didn't let Martina really showcase her voice (and I hope I never have to listen to anything else Chris Mann ever does ever again).

Sorry for the delay on this, folks! I have been waylaid recently trying to finish my Master's program... This month has been the worst... I can't wait to be done with this s**t forever. Anyway, I hate making you wait like this, but unfortunately I have barely had time to even log into Pulse the last couple weeks. I'll continue this soon, I promise! I just wanted to let y'all know I am still alive!! Christmas or not, we will finish this in a rapid fashion as soon as I have the time to fly through it!

I wasn’t all that familiar with Martina’s first Christmas album prior to this rankdown and overall I really enjoyed the big band production on It’s the Holiday Season so my rankings definetly reflect this. I honestly can’t wait to revisit the album again this holiday season!

With that, here is your top 10 of all Martina's Christmas music!!! No songs from It's The Holiday Season remain; the highest release from that album was "Most Wonderful Time Of The Year" at #12. All the remaining songs come from White Christmas, except for "Please Come Home For Christmas", which is a standalone release from earlier this decade.
