This is the most contemporary single for Aaron so far. Production is geared for radio airplay. Still plenty of country elements in here (heavy fiddle) but probably one of my least favorites I’ve heard from Aaron.

You can tell by the artwork he's going contemporary lol.
One mainstream radio hit and now he's on the Nashville money wagon?

He owns his own label, is paying for the entire staff and a radio hit opens him to more markets. He’s a multi millionaire just playing the Midwest but wants to build his career even more.

As Matt states, Aaron controls his music -- he owns his own label and puts the money into the label for promotion. He's decided to make his investment to his radio career. I think "Kiss That Girl Goodbye" is more country sounding than most of what's on radio but it's definitely catered a bit more for the mainstream. If you're Aaron Watson, it makes sense. There's no point in investing all your money and effort into promoting something you know will never be a hit at radio. He's decided to make it more contemporary but keep it as country sounding as possible. I think "Outta Style" was a perfect balance. This one I don't like as much but I can see it getting somewhere at radio. Also, hopefully the audio will be available soon. It was delivered to radio stations through Play MPE, so I've been fortunate enough to hear it in full.

If one more contemporary sounding song for radio success is what it takes for me to get another great album then I'll take it. I just hope the whole album doesn't sound like it's meant for radio.

Right and if by "build his career" you mean make something more mainstream that will get national airplay, you agree with my point.

I'm not really familiar with Aaron Watson's music outside of the two singles he had on terrestrial radio the past year or so, but I loved "Outta Style" and I thought "Run Wild Horses" was pretty good too. Curious to see what his new music sounds like!

Curious to see what his new music sounds like! "That Look" (his one other single that got some mainstream traction from a few years prior) is really good as well, if you're interested in checking out anything else from him, aside from the new single obviously.

"Bluebonnets (Julia's Song)" was a mainstream radio single in 2016. It ended up charting at #60. This was just before he hired the full radio staff for Big Label.

On first listen this isn't too bad. Melody reminds me of They Don't Make Em Like They Used To, but it is slightly overproduced and there could be too many things happening at same time, particularly the awkward hand clap section.

Y'know, the buildup to this release really scared me, especially as a die-hard fan in Texas over the years, because it felt like he was going to abandon his style even more to go all-in on the radio game. But I think I can get behind this.
I can't explain it, but this still oddly feels like authentic Aaron Watson, albeit with a lot more unnecessary hand-claps. It might be mainly that the fiddle managed to stick around in heavy doses (thank God) and I think the lyrics still have that unique Aaron Watson style. I can't quite put my finger on it though. Even that outro feels equal parts strange and familiar.
I certainly hope this is a hit for him though; nothing would make me happier than to see him hit it big.

This is a no go for me. Guess I will have to just wait for the album.

Sounds like a Dierks song from the 00s.

I really like this. It feels along the same line as FGL’s "Simple" and OD’s "Make It Sweet" imo. Hope it becomes a big hit for him!

Sounds like a Dierks song from the 00s. Yeah, this one gives me a bit of a Dierks Bentley vibe as well between the vocal delivery and the fast-paced melody paired with that instrumentation. If "Outta Style" could get all the way to the top 10 and his last single could manage a peak in the 30s, I can certainly see this one making a nice dent in the charts. Probably has a good shot at going top 20, maybe higher. On first listen, not sure if I prefer this to "Outta Style," but I do enjoy it on the whole and find it to be pretty catchy. Definitely more mainstream-sounding, but does have all the necessary elements in the vocal and production to anchor it firmly in the country genre. I just hope it sells better for him than "Outta Style" did.

I don't dislike the song but I don't find it fits his voice. Like I'd love to hear Billy Currington take a shot at this song but for Aaron I just find something's not quite working.
Still it fits the genre really well while not sacrificing his identity outright. Hope it does well for him if only because I like the guy and feel he's worked hard for his success.

This is quite eclectic, but it sounds like a hit to me. I don't like it as much as his other singles but it has a strong melody and I can see it growing on me.

I don't like the verses that much but the chorus is enjoyable, great job on the fiddle. Hopefully it'll work for Aaron on the radio, but he should find a way to grow his streaming numbers.

Oh wow, this truly does sound just like an earlier Dierks Bentley song! I can for sure hear Dierks singing this. However, it just makes me appreciate how great of a vocalist Dierks is and wish he were the one singing it instead. Regardless, I like this!

I'm surprised this one totally bombed on mainstream country radio after the momentum he had from his last era. I figured if they were able to get "Run Wild Horses" to a modest #33 peak that this one would at the very least do something.

If Trying Like The Devil is being considered as a second single, then like indulgecountry, I am surprised they're moving ahead and realizing Kiss That Girl Goodbye failed to make an impact. The song is amazing, and it's definitely better than Run Wild Horses, so I don't know why it didn't blow up :(

Surprised that KTGG didn’t click. Aaron is persistent. His album will hit big and hopefully that will give him some additional exposure.

Sorry for double post, but this song is now #1 on Texas radio.
