For the first tie in Billboard history, the average age of songs in the top 50 is over 10 years old! There are 12 entries at least 20 years old, at least 9 of those over 50 years old and 3 (2 by Gene Autry & 1 by Nat King Cole) that are about 70 years old.
All, not surprisingly, are Christmas songs.

Dean Martin's 'Baby, It's Cold Outside' Hits Top 10 On Digital Song Sales Chart News By Gary Trust | December 18, 2018 10:59 AM EST

Martin's version of the suddenly much-buzzed-about 1944 song surges by 70 percent in sales. "Baby, It's Cold Outside" has come under fire of late, with some radio stations banning the holiday standard in light of the #MeToo movement and others defending and continuing to play it. Frank Loesser wrote the song in 1944, and its storyline of a male suitor who attempts to dissuade his object of affection from leaving for the chilly outdoors is being newly dissected. Despite the controversy, or perhaps in part because of attention generated by it, a version of the song hits the top 10 of Billboard's Digital Song Sales chart for the first time. Dean Martin's take, recorded in 1959, is the chart's Greatest Gainer, soaring from No. 31 to No. 10 on the Dec. 22-dated list, up 70 percent to 11,000 downloads sold in the week ending Dec. 13, according to Nielsen Music. A week earlier, it returned to the chart with a 257 percent blast to 7,000 sold.
For a second consecutive week, Martin's cover is the second-best-selling holiday song, below Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas Is You" (14,000, down 6 percent).
On the Holiday 100 chart, which ranks the top holiday songs of all eras via a blend of streaming, airplay and sales data, Martin's "Cold" jumps 31-17. Until a week ago, it had never ranked in the top 40 dating to the chart's 2011 inception. (Carey's "Christmas" continues to rule the Holiday 100 and becomes the highest-charting yuletide hit in 60 years on the Billboard Hot 100.) Also on the Holiday 100 are two other versions of "Cold": Idina Menzel's 2014 duet with Michael Bublé, at No. 72 (up 8 percent in overall activity), and Brett Eldredge's 2016 take, featuring Meghan Trainor, at No. 84 (down 2 percent). Both gain in sales: the former by 5 percent to 3,000 and the latter by 17 percent to 2,000.
Martin's interpretation of "Cold" also surges by 35 percent to 11.1 million U.S. streams in the tracking week. Plus, it gains by 25 percent to 1.4 million in airplay audience (while his 2006 duet version with Martina McBride climbs by 26 percent to 3.2 million).

The next highest classic Christmas song is #10 on Recurrent I am guessing 12 re-entries this season may be the final number Maybe not. By comparing to the rap chart, we can see that everything on Recurrent from "FEFE" at 20 up is above "Calling My Spirit" by Kodak Black at 53. So between the two XXXTENTACION songs falling down and the upsurge in streaming and airplay as Christmas gets closer, there's a chance that the six holiday songs in the Recurrent Top 20 may get enough of a gain to hit the Hot 100.

Bobby Helms' Jingle Bell Rock is the streaming gainer of the week. In your face Xxxtentacion! lol
Also, Gene Autry scoring those multiple top 40 hits in 2018!
Kind of a relief that 6ix9ine won't get any proper hits out the album apart from Fefe.

Yay for The Ronettes. :)
While "The Christmas Song" continues to reach new Hot 100 highs, it should be noted that it charted pre-Hot 100, getting as high as No. 3 on one of the top charts of its time(which, off-hand, I'm not sure). And Gene Autry's version of "Rudolph..."hit No. 1, while "Here Come Santa Claus..." was a top 10 hit.
Thanks for posting all the charts, Gary.

'Despacito' Hits Milestone 100th Week on the Hot Latin Songs Chart 12/18/2018 by Pamela Bustios "When I wrote ‘Despacito’ I never would have thought that two years later it would still be on top of the charts,” Luis Fonsi tells Billboard. Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee are celebrating a new milestone on the Hot Latin Songs chart, as “Despacito,” the Puerto Ricans’ first collaboration, which features Justin Bieber, racks up a total of 100 weeks on the Hot Latin Songs chart dated Dec. 22.
The 56-week chart-topper remains at No. 3 for a seventh consecutive week on the latest tally. The track notched its 56th nonconsecutive week at No. 1 on the chart dated Sept. 1. "When I wrote ‘Despacito’ I never would have thought that two years later it would still be on top of the charts,” Luis Fonsi tells Billboard. “It's something that makes me feel proud but more so grateful for the support I've received from all over the world.”
The Hot Latin Songs chart ranks the most popular Latin songs of the week by blending airplay, sales and streaming data. While "Despacito" spent its last week on the Latin Airplay chart way back on Oct. 21, 2017, the song continues to perform well in sales and especially with streams. The latter metric provided the bulk of the song's points on the Hot Latin Songs chart in recent months, and it sits at No. 4 on the Latin Streaming Songs chart dated Dec. 22. In the most recent tracking week, ending Dec. 13, the song earned 13 million clicks, according to Nielsen Music. Notably, since “Despacito” debuted at No. 2 on Feb. 4 2017 -hitting the chart’s summit in just its third week (Feb. 18)- the song has remained steady in the chart’s top 5, dropping only as low as No. 5 during its 100-week charting period.
On its centenary, the song becomes just the second track to reach 100 weeks on the list and continues to be the song with the second-most weeks on the chart since its inception on Oct. 4, 1986. Romeo Santo’s “Propuesta Indecente,” a former leader which debuted on the tally on Aug. 10, 2013, continues at the lead with 125 weeks on the chart. Let’s take a look at the chart’s top 10 longest-charting titles: Top 10 Longest-Charting Titles on Hot Latin Songs: 125 weeks, “Propuesta Indecente,” Romeo Santos 100 weeks, “Despacito,” Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee, featuring Justin Bieber 62 weeks, “Incondicional,” Prince Royce 61 weeks, “A Puro Dolor,” Son By Four 60 weeks, “Mi Corazoncito,” Aventura 59 weeks, “Amor Confuso,” Gerardo Ortiz 58 weeks, “El Perdón,” Nicky Jam & Enrique Iglesias 57 weeks, “Hasta El Amanecer,” Nicky Jam 56 weeks, “Mi Gente,” Nicky Jam & Willy William, featuring Beyoncé 56 weeks, “Corazón Sin Cara,” Prince Royce Concurrently, “Despacito” continues to hold the record for the most weeks at No. 1 (56), ahead of runner up “Bailando” by Enrique Iglesias, featuring Descemer Bueno & Gente de Zona, which claimed the lead for 41 consecutive weeks.

Dan + Shay's 'Speechless' Soars to No. 1 on Country Airplay Chart 12/18/2018 by Jim Asker
Plus, the pair becomes the second duo in the Hot Country Songs chart's history to claim the top two spots simultaneously. Dan + Shay, the duo of Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney, bank their fifth No. 1 on Billboard's Country Airplay chart, as "Speechless" darts 5-1 (on the list dated Dec. 22), up 13 percent to 38.6 million audience impressions in the week ending Dec. 16, according to Nielsen Music.
"Speechless" is the second single from Dan + Shay's self-titled, third full-length, which debuted at No. 1 on the Top Country Albums chart dated July 7. First single "Tequila" topped Country Airplay that week and the following frame (becoming the act's lone multi-week No. 1 to date).
"We wrote ["Speechless"] about our wives, and to see it resonate with so many people is an extra special feeling for us," the duo told Billboard in a statement after learning about its latest coronation. "Having back-to-back No. 1 songs already from this album is a testament to the support from our fans and friends at country radio. What an incredible way to wrap up an incredible year."
Meanwhile, "Speechless" reaches the Country Airplay penthouse in its 19th week on the chart, marking Dan + Shay's speediest trip to No. 1. It bests "Tequila," which took 25 weeks. The pair first led with "Nothin' Like You" (Dec. 19, 2015), followed by "From the Ground Up" (2016) and "How Not To" (July 1, 2017). Dan + Shay first charted on Country Airplay with "19 You + Me," which peaked at No. 11 in April 2014. As for its four-spot surge, "Speechless" is the first song to fly from No. 5 to No. 1 on Country Airplay since Brett Young's "Mercy" on Aug. 11.
As "Speechless" leads Country Airplay, the song simultaneously rules Billboard's airplay-, streaming- and sales-based Hot Country Songs chart for a fourth week, making Dan + Shay the first act to double up atop the tallies simultaneously since Bebe Rexha and Florida Georgia Line on April 28, when their "Meant to Be" crowned Country Airplay for its lone week at No. 1 as the smash was in its 21st of its eventual record 50-week domination of Hot Country Songs.
Plus, as "Speechless" tops Hot Country Songs, "Tequila" bumps 3-2, returning for a 14th week at its peak, which it first reached on June 30. Dan + Shay become just the second duo or group to claim Nos. 1 and 2 simultaneously in the history of Hot Country Songs (which launched as an all-encompassing genre survey in October 1958). On the Oct. 6 and 20-dated charts, "Meant to Be" held at No. 1 while FGL's "Simple" ranked at No. 2.
Among soloists, Luke Bryan last monopolized the top two on Hot Country Songs at the same time, and also thanks in part to Florida Georgia Line: on June 28, 2014, FGL's "This Is How We Roll," featuring Bryan, was No. 1 and Bryan's "Play It Again" was No. 2.
The only other artists to claim the top two slots on Hot Country Songs in the same week are Taylor Swift (2012), Willie Nelson (1982) and Buck Owens (1964).

Plus, Gene Autry earns his second Hot 100 hit and Jose Feliciano returns.
Holiday music continues to reach new heights on the Billboard Hot 100, as 12 seasonal songs light up the latest list (dated Dec. 22), including four in the top 20.
As previously reported, Mariah Carey leads the way with "All I Want for Christmas Is You," which rises 7-6, hitting a new peak and becoming the highest-charting holiday hit on the Hot 100 in 60 years (only David Seville and The Chipmunks' "The Chipmunk Song" has charted higher, at No. 1 for four weeks in 1958-59).
Carey's 1994 classic rises with 34.5 million radio audience impressions, 28.1 million U.S. streams and 14,000 downloads sold, according to Nielsen Music.
"Christmas" also leads Billboard's Holiday 100 chart for a 33rd total week. The survey ranks the top holiday hits of all eras using the same methodology as the Hot 100, blending streaming, airplay and sales data.
Next up among yuletide tunes, Andy Williams' "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year" reaches a new peak, rising 16-13. It drew 31.4 million streams and 25.2 million in radio reach and sold 4,000 in the tracking week. The late crooner appears at his highest rank since 1971, when "(Where Do I Begin) Love Story" hit No. 9, becoming his fourth Hot 100 top 10. (Per chart rules put in place this decade, older songs are eligible to debut on or return to the Hot 100 if showing multi-metric gains and ranking in the top 50.)
The Ronettes return to the Hot 100 after a 52-year break, earning their ninth entry with "Sleigh Ride," at No. 41. The trio, originally consisting of Veronica "Ronnie" Spector (nee Bennett), Estelle Bennett and Nedra Talley, released the Phil Spector-produced track in 1963, and it debuts at last, up 11 percent to 15.5 million streams. (Click here for details on the eligibility, or lack thereof, of holiday hits on the Hot 100 over the years.)
The Ronettes, who disbanded in 1968, earned eight Hot 100 entries between 1963 and 1966, including five top 40 hits and one top 10: "Be My Baby" peaked at No. 2 on Oct. 12, 1963. Eddie Money interpolated the song, with Ronnie Spector, for his 1986 hit "Take Me Home Tonight," which reached No. 4, while the original "Baby" received more new exposure thanks to its inclusion in the box office blockbuster Dirty Dancing and its soundtrack in 1987.
Until this week, The Ronettes had last appeared on the Hot 100 dated Oct. 29, 1966, when "I Can Hear Music" spent a week on the chart at No. 100.
Here's a look at all the holiday songs on the new, Dec. 22-dated Hot 100:
Rank, Title, Artist No. 6, "All I Want for Christmas Is You," Mariah Carey (up from No. 7) No. 13, "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year," Andy Williams (up from No. 16) No. 15, "Jingle Bell Rock," Bobby Helms (up from No. 26) No. 18, "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree," Brenda Lee (up from No. 21) No. 21, "A Holly Jolly Christmas," Burl Ives (up from No. 22) No. 24, "The Christmas Song (Merry Christmas to You)," Nat King Cole (up from No. 29) No. 27, "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer," Gene Autry (up from No. 36) No. 31, "Last Christmas," Wham! (up from No. 34) No. 32, "Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow," Dean Martin (up from No. 41) No. 40, "Here Comes Santa Claus (Down Santa Claus Lane)," Gene Autry (debut) No. 41, "Sleigh Ride," The Ronettes (debut) No. 42, "Feliz Navidad," Jose Feliciano (re-entry)
Gene Autry earns his second-ever Hot 100 entry with "Here Comes Santa Claus (Down Santa Claus Lane)" (No. 40), after making his first visit last week with "Rudolph." Autry, who died in 1998, first released "Santa" in 1947, 11 years before the Hot 100 launched.
Plus, Jose Feliciano's "Feliz Navidad" re-enters at a new No. 42 high. Feliciano, 73, is seeking his third top 40 hit and first in 50 years; "Light My Fire" and "Hi-Heel Sneakers" hits Nos. 3 and 25, respectively, in 1968.

I hope "Sleigh Ride" can top 40 next week to give The Ronettes another top 40 hit.

I hope "Sleigh Ride" can top 40 next week to give The Ronettes another top 40 hit. That would give them six, I think. Were they actually not that big then, or did Top 40 mean much more different than it does today? Because their chart history isn't that impressive.

Surprisingly, ITMWTOTY is the most streamed Christmas song of the week and its popularity on Pandora is absurd. The main version has ~9M streams/week and there is a version with ~7M.

Surprisingly, ITMWTOTY is the most streamed Christmas song of the week and its popularity on Pandora is absurd. The main version has ~9M streams/week and there is a version with ~7M. "AIWFCIY" is still #1 on Holiday Streaming Songs, so maybe those numbers are wrong. Or maybe it's about passive streaming? If "ITMWTOTY" is doing that well at Pandora, maybe it's programmed to a lot of holiday 'playlists.'

Yes, Pandora counts as programmed for the streaming chart and that's why AIWFCIY (a bigger on-demand hit) is #1 on the streaming songs chart.
