I have pretty much avoided a good part of country radio in 2018 due to pure exasperation. I may have to do this to see if the current state of country music is as bad as I think it is.

I have pretty much avoided a good part of country radio in 2018 due to pure exasperation. I may have to do this to see if the current state of country music is as bad as I think it is. Well, I cut out all the songs that were already used in the 2017 rankdown, and replaced them with basically all of the flops this year that people raved about and wanted to see become hits, so I'm going to wager that this rankdown will actually be quite a bit better than the state of country radio in 2018! I guess it's a rankdown that is more reflective of the country genre as a whole in 2018, rather than just what was the most popular. Hopefully you'll be able to find something here to love, even though country radio has a tendency to suck :) |

Sent after hearing some of the songs from flop male artists for the first time because I am not interested in them at all. Yeah they all suck.
Also a minor suggestion, since What Whiskey Does is credited as Randy Houser featuring Hillary Lindsey in Billboard charts, I hope it will be the case in the rankdown as well.

Hey guys. So it has become apparent that my January needs to turn into a big final push to finish my Master's Program... I am going to go ahead and give a couple extra weeks to get this one done. For those of you who already submitted, I'm sorry to make you wait. I would much rather do a preemptive shuffling of my priorities right now than have the 20th arrive and make you guys wait awkwardly long for the results to be started :) And those of you who have been planning to procrastinate, now you have two more weeks to do so!
The new deadline is Sunday, February 3rd. Don't forget that the 2002 Country Rankdown is also due around that same time, so those of you who want to participate in both, please plan accordingly!

Hmm, I didn't know that, as I haven't heard the full song on the radio once yet, and I haven't looked at a Billboard chart in months! I'll see if I can remember to label it accordingly when presenting the rankdown  Edit: I just finished putting together an Apple Music playlist for myself, and it looks like it is labeled as a feature on Apple Music. So I should easily remember for the reveal now! |
