Musically, I loved "Drunk Girl" like the first two times I heard it lol. And then it wore on me FAST. I hate it now, lol. And the lyrics have always been pretty cringey to me not gonna lie.

Didn't this reach like, #22 on the Hot 100? It was big for no reason.

WHAT??!! Our way too early I totally agree I don't know if you know anything about Terri Clark, but she is a Canadian country artist who pretty much lost relevance in the U.S. around 2007/2008. Her career is still going strong up North, but sadly nobody here really knows her newer material unless they stan for her and go out of their way to seek it out. There is no doubt in my mind that part of her problem here is lack of familiarity Her hits were consistently incredible and awesome, so we have usually seen (and should continue to see) her near the top 10 in the '90s and '00s rankdowns! But in the modern rankdowns, I don't expect much... (Also, "Young As We Are Tonight" wasn't nearly as immediate for me as the majority of her output has been, so that undoubtedly contributed as well in a rankdown where the majority were discovering it for the first time. I love it now, but I had to hear it a handful of times before it really sunk in, and I'm one of her biggest stans.)

Wow you guys did I Lived It dirty...Even though the subject matter seems a bit unimportant, the melody for this one is so good! I hope he will choose to record more melodic songs in the future. No more sleepy Turnin' Me On/Off please. So Drunk Girl isn't as divisive as I thought. I think his voice is strong enough to pull this piano ballad off, unlike the piano ballad from someone else who makes me want to skip the song every time . Also this means Drunk Me featuring one of the most hated artists in country (here and beyond) beat this?? I swear Pulse's preference to the "vocalists" sometimes... Get Along is a weird song to have high SD. Sure the haters are there but 3 Top 10 for this song? The lyrics are so ignorant of the society that it is difficult to love what it is. Didn't this reach like, #22 on the Hot 100? It was big for no reason. It is partly buoyed by aftermath of Drake's invasion of chart that causes a lot of songs to peak higher than usual. The production on Young As We Are Tonight is too pop leaning which doesn't fit the album at all, and is an odd single choice.

Her forte has always been a really honky-tonk sound, and this is much more polished and modern. I personally think she stayed reasonably close to her roots while freshening up her sound, but it is definitely different for her!

Ugh, RaeLynn deserved better. "Tailgate" should've been a big smash at country radio. Such a strong, catchy song. I love her.
At least that big loss is partially offset by me finally losing my #115. Bye Kenny! "Get Along" is vile noise pollution.

Simple was done way dirty! Until this era I had a largely negative opinion of FGL but this round of singles have been really enjoyable.
Take It from Me >>>>> Singles You Up
Tenille Towns almost makes Raelynn's voice tolerable. She sounds HORRIBLE on that song. I much prefer Tenille Arts.
I think I Lived It was a little low here, but not surprised. Same with Get Along. But this was a bad year in music.
Where is that horrible Jo Dee song? I knew Sara would do well even though All The Love You Left Me Left Me Left Me Left Me is HORRIBLE (sorry Sara <3 - Long Way Down is in my Top 10 I promise) but Jo Dee still in this with that weird af song is stunning to me.

Glad Meant to Be is bottom 10. Not a good country song, not a good pop song.
Get Down South was a song I thought y'all liked more, but I'm glad to see it out early.
Downtown's Dead and Girl Like You are trash.
Three Chords and the Truth was better than I expected, considering I hated "Ready Set Roll".
Everything's Gonna Be Alright is mediocre.
Take Back Home Girl was not good. 0/3 for him so far.
I actually liked Singles You Up quite a bit, but Take It from Me was not very good.
Reba deserved better, and the wrong Terri Clark song was out first.
Only 1 bottom 10 left!

Really not upset about any of this. Not many of these made my top 50 for a reason. Pretty anything out of my top 40 was a flop for me, but I had to put shit somewhere so it more-so became "what do I hate less?" I friggin' LOVE Reba, but that song is simply not there for me. She's done so much better, same with Terri Clark!
I should be annoyed by Tenille's voice, but I just wasn't. I could NEVER listen to her in mass quantities though. A couple songs max and I'd be out.
Florida Georgia Line is still just a joke to me. How that song even made it past 100 is beyond me.
I kept hearing "Drunk Girl" would grow on me. Frickin' NOPE. Awful.

Last Shot - I do not understand the Kip Moore appeal AT ALL. This song is so boring and his voice is not good at all, but somehow is even worse than normal on this one. How it lasted so long on radio and got as high as it did will forever surprise me Tailgate - ugh, I was afraid she would be the first out. Tailgate is a jam and a half and I love Rae and her voice. How can you NOT bop to this??? Somebody's Daughter - I'm sorry, did someone say that the only female debut single I've strongly disliked since I can't even remember is getting OTV!?!? I tried so hard to like this but her voice is awful, production sounds weird on this and melodically it just falls flat. I was really hoping this and her would just fade away and just not happen... Please give OTV to any other female artist. Plz plz plz Take It From Me - aww this is out too soon. It's not anything great, but it's inoffensive and fun and the lyrical twist is clever Simple - so I like this, but mostly for the melody and instrumentation. I also don't hate FGL as much as most, but the spelling out the title in song lyrics absolutely needs to stop being a thing. This isn't a spelling bee God And My Girlfriends - love me some Reba. Love me some God. But yikes this song is cheesier than a Wisconsin dairy farm I Lived It - YASSSS BYEEEEE TRASH! I was afraid this would do better since it seemed to be more well-liked on Pulse but this is just as awful as everything else he's done in the past 5-6 years. Garbage garbage garbage Drunk Girl - perfect ranking! I actually really liked this song at first, but that didn't last long... it doesn't have any replay value and eventually still comes off kinda creepy despite that being the opposite of its intentions. Get Along - really, y'all let Boring Boat beat this? Get Along isn't great and lyrically it's soaked in privilege which I don't care for at all, but it is still fun. Not too sad its out, but let the Boring Boat sink soon plz Young As We Are Tonight - finally. now take the other Terri song with it. I miss when Terri made good music. Haven't liked anything from her since American radio gave up on her I still have my entire bottom five. Bleh This is what happens when you put all 4 Kacey songs in your bottom 5...

Oh, "Simple" is out!!!!! YAS! It's their worst song for sure, and they have a LOT of contenders for that title... the main one being "Sun Daze" which is still right up there with this one lol. I know FGL has grown on a lot of you but to me they are still as atrocious and horrendous as ever. 100% bro 100% of the time. And now they pull this faux pop/folk crap like High Valley does. Pass! I'll give you Sun Daze, it's my worst of theirs as well. But other than the obnoxious voice, Simple was way better than Up Down or a decent amount of their material.

I must share a quick personal story about “God and My Girlfriends”. My Grandpa passed away in the fall of 2017. Being from a small town and being a pretty prominent man around town, our family knew the services would have a lot of people and would be rather long. Long story short, we decide we should play some religious-y music during the visitation. I, naturally, get picked to steer that ship.
Not exactly into that scene of music. It’s fine, but not something I go out of my way to listen to unless it’s a country artist. So I knew Reba had released a Christian album that year so I figured that was perfect. Sure, I hadn’t fully listened to the album, but Reba is amazing so I wasn’t worried. I blindly downloaded the album, I set it to loop before the visitation and we were rolling.
I had started the music fairly early, so it was playing while my family was getting settled in and finishing last minute items. We finally got to just standing around waiting for the public to start arriving and the words of a song caught my ear, “God and my girlfriends, they're always there…”
I couldn’t have heard that right, “...again and again, I can depend on God and my girlfriends.”
Shit. Here we stand in our church honoring this 75-year-old man and the song that’s playing is “God And My Girlfriends”. My Grandpa would have thought that it was hilarious, but I will never be able to hear the song without thinking about my Grandpa. I’m sure I’m one of the few that can say that a song named “God And My Girlfriends” reminds them of their Grandpa.

I had my comments written and they got wiped out Edition:
Heaven South---A much better version of Get Down South. But to be honest, I've never been fully on board a Brad Paisley song since River Bank.
Wake Me Up---Another song that was pleasant and forgettable. Still no real opinion on Billy Currington the artist and he's been performing for over a decade?
Take Back Home Girl---Of the country/pop collaborations this year, this was the one sort of keeper. It didn't have obnoxious production and both Lane and Tori Kelly are fine. Probably my best liked of his songs.
Rumor---It was pretty good, but not great. It deserved better, but not say top 20. Lee Brice has the ability to sneak up on you with his quality.
Back to Us---Rascal Flatts feel like more of a Hot Country AC band to me at this point and that's fine. As long as they don't change their sound or do any more covers of 1990s rock tunes...
Last Shot---I like the idea of Kip Moore the rocker way more than the execution. He has an obnoxious voice and his lyrics underwhelm me.
Tailgate---It may be female bro-country (sis-country), but it's fairly well done. I didn't find RaeLynn's voice grating or anything, but I did wish the lyrics had more going on than they did.
Somebody's Daughter---Aw, I really liked this one. It felt like a way better version of Drunk Girl. Probably because it's centered more on the female (as it should be), than the man/boy.
Take It From Me---Yeah, this was a lot better than Singles You Up (Imma be, Imma be? Oi). But it wasn't that good, just kind of there.
Simple---I think this would have fared better if it was anybody other than FGL. Tyler's obnoxious, grating voice does this no favors; it kinda sounds condescending after awhile.
God and My Girlfriends---You disrespected the queen of country? How dare you? It was a simple, well-written song by Reba and performed fine. It's not quite Just Like Them Horses, but it was good.
I Lived It---Perhaps it's irony, but I think maybe I'm starting to enjoy Blake now that most people have turned off him? This is like the third straight decent or better single from him.
Drunk Girl---Probably overstayed some. I liked it when it first came out, but with time, I turned on this one. That one line about a girl getting drunk "throwing her life away" just rubs me the wrong way. If it was a guy, would Chris have the same attitude? Doubt it. He does have a nice voice, but maybe he could invest in some writers? Oh, Daryl, my bottom 10 is clear!
Get Along---The first of two would be Nickelback uplifting anthems (see When We Come Together) was kind of inoffensive, but could have been a lot tighter. Oh, and Chesney may not be the best messenger for something like this (see also Noise).
Young as We Are Tonight---Perhaps my largest complaint might be that I don't have a reference point for her earlier stuff. But for a first time listen, I mostly dug it.
Hopefully, we'll lose the other Drunk song and the other would-be anthem soon. And perhaps we could pare out some Champagne as well?

knew "Last Shot" would do terrible but I love that song and love Kip Moore's voice. "Bittersweet Company" should have been the single though as that was my #1 most played song on Spotify for the entire year last year and I am still not tired of that song in the least. Though "Last Shot" was up there as well so no regrets on my ranking because I love that song. Get it that he isn't for everyone but I am a big fan.
"Simple" is easily Florida Georgia Line's best song ever, which is not saying much because it is just okay.
"Tailgate" was okay at first, grew on me, and then got old. Moving on.
"Young As We Are Tonight" deserved better. Am shocked this song is out already.
