That’s weird, I’m sure their needs to be some updates because this is the first I’ve ever seen this, it was showing normal dates for me last week, I don’t understand the dramatics over an target website, it’s really not a big deal Look, it's obvious that you are a biased stan, based on your argumentative nature when it comes to Sam. That's your prerogative, but no one is being dramatic. I'm just stating facts. If you think this is being treated like some major release and people other than stans like yourself are on the edge of their seats for this album, you are sadly mistaken. Other than the songs they released a year and a half ago and counting, where is the interest from the General Public. Before you get snarky with me for stating facts, ask yourself how To Die For, I'm Ready, and official first single Diamonds have generated interest for this project. You're talking to someone who stanned Sam for both of his released albums (especially The Thrill Of It All) so...kindly calm down. Edit: Target has updated their site with the Target Exclusive version of the CD.

So this is coming out this weekend and I don't really see much promotion about it. Is Sam scheduled to perform anywhere?

I HEARD IT. OMG An absolute masterpiece I love Dance, it’s such a bop. You’ll love it. Nearly cried during Forgive Myself. The most beautiful ballad of the year. Didn’t really like Kids Again, it’s a let down unfortunately. Other hightlights: Another One, Love Goes and So Serious<33

This is basically DOA. This will get swallowed up by Ariana's release. I will still give it a listen.

Fantastic Album , much better than their previous one. "Forgive myself" is beautiful and there are some serious bops here! (Which are missed in "positions"...) I'm dying to know the credits for the 2 terget exlusive tracks (Lauryel canyon & Sober)

His current position makes me sad. It makes me feel like being openly gay can hider one’s longevity in the music biz, which is a much deeper conversation. Granted, he did get a bit weird with the pronouns stuff but he released great music up until the Demi song. I mean, Dancing and HDYS were really great songs. What happened? I feel like Frank Ocean and Lil Nas will face the same fate when they return. Now we have no commercially successful LGBT artists (again!). People say they want diversity but when they get it, rarely is it supported by the people demanding it. I hate that.

If you realize they don’t use male pronouns, why are using them throughout this post? Even if you think it’s “weird”, it costs you nothing to be respectful. Anyways, this album is excellent and I can’t wait to listen to it on repeat! Young, Another One, Dance (‘Til You Love Someone Else) & For The Lover That I Lost are my favorites on first listen.

Sam might be able to reclaim some success in the US next era. also Halsey is bi sexual and a pretty big force in the pop world

If anything, they've shown they can still be successful post-coming out and also being explicitly queer. But the rollout for this album has been a train-wreck. Basically a two year death march. If Sam had released this album when they had a hit instead of stretching it out endlessly and releasing several dud singles in the interim, we'd be having a completely different discussion right now IMO.

So so far album highlights for me (besides the stuff we had already heard) are So Serious, Breaking Hearts and Another One. I was kinda expecting a bit more, but I'm sure it could grow on me

I hate that. wasn't the orginal album was suppose release in March or June, and he shut down the release like a week or two before it release day? I personally notice label always will be upset about that? same goes with Meghan Trainor, I think most of his original album were printed and money was spend to promo for the original date. thats could really make the label not happy. even with June, many artist already starts releasing stuffs, of couse they are not promoting it, also there are Ariana Grande to compensate for it

Jesus. Why are we still misgendering Sam. Devil's advocate - it's easy to forget when the people you're around do not use different pronouns. We should of course respect what Sam wants, but a little grace for one another as we get used to it can't hurt, either.

Yes, I understand and agree. We all make mistakes, but it takes only a few seconds to read the above convos where it actually states their preferred pronoun. If you follow Sam, you know what one you should use, and if someone has an issue with using Sam's preferred pronoun, because they feel it "weird", then just write your post without using pronouns.

Sure - but that's assuming everyone comes in to read what has been said. Some folks just pop in to give their opinion on the music or ask a question and then bounce. *edited to add that I see that the other user did respond to someone else, but just posing options.
I agree with you, but I think a "hey, heads-up!" may work better. The whole "catch more bees with honey" thing, you know?

I got the Target edition. The 2 extra tracks are nice. I prefer Laurel Canyon to Sober. Big improvement over The Thrill Of It All... after repeated plays, I'll know if it tops their debut.

I knew the piano ballads weren’t going anywhere but I was hoping for more slinky bops akin to DWAS and Diamonds. Le sigh.
Metacritic:
The Thrill of It All: 72
Love Goes: 65
In the Lonely Hour: 62

How Do You Sleep? Dancing with a Stranger Diamonds My Oasis Another One To Die For For The Lover That I Lost So Serious Breaking Hearts Forgive Myself
The rest aren’t my cup of tea. I won’t include “Fire on Fire” and “Promises” since they’re bonus tracks. I was also hoping this would include more sexy jams, but we did get some pretty amazing ones already, so I won’t complain. Not sure how I’d rate this with their other albums, I’ll try that later when I have some time.
Edit: I didn’t know there were Target Bonus tracks. I love them both, Sober more, but I would have appreciated those on the main version. Especially over “Young,” and that Demi duet. Can Canadians order from Target?

Moved on from Ari's snoozefest to this. Right away, I was engaged with this album. Good for Sam. They are showing versatility. I applaud it. Their vocal production on this album was very well handled. Overall, I had a good time with this one. I don't know if it was because I was coming straight from Positions, but I needed this as a palate cleanser. I still have a special place in my heart for The Thrill Of It All. That album has better writing and this has better, more classic melodies. This album is more fun than that one overall though. Strong collabs on the main version of the album. This kinda reminds me of the Target Edition of Rare by Selena Gomez, in that I'm grateful they included their older songs because I connect with most of those tracks more than a good chunk of songs on the album, bar the Demi duet, which could have been excluded. I can't believe they thought that would be a moment or make any kind of noise whatsoever. It's just not a good song. So disjointed and chaotic and the choir actually wasn't needed, which I NEVER say. The title track Love Goes is messy, but in a good, powerful way. Anyway, I think the first grouping of songs (in order of best to least) would have made a perfect album with nice tempo variety and experimentation and maybe would have been my favorite of his. But yeah, this a really strong album overall.
Kids Again (They sound unrecognizable at times. Is Ryan Tedder singing on this with him, uncredited? This is so lovely and unexpected. Gives me Harry Styles vibes.) Dancing With A Stranger Forgive Myself (yup, she is THAT bitch. puts his "signature ballads" to shame. whew!) Love Goes (wow, Labryinth really is special, huh? This is messy AF, but also beautiful AF) Dance ('Til You Love Someone Else) My Oasis (I almost put To Die For over this but that beat is so slinky and seductive, ugh and Burna Boy is a really nice feature) To Die For Promises Sober (OMG. I can see why he left this is a Target Exclusive. He is spilling too much tea on Brandon here, but I love this song!) Another One Diamonds Laurel Canyon How Do You Sleep?
Young Breakin' Hearts For The Lover I Lost So Serious (sounds like a Stargate reject from back when Ne-Yo was popular. I'm surprised this wasn't one they did. Must be that random synth with the King Arthur melody they would never have attempted) Fire On Fire I'm Ready (grew on me, but still..not good)

Sam delaying the album and changing the name definitely screwed up their momentum. I’m sure they’ll recover fine though
Before anyone Say “sAm iS OVer” keep in mind this entire era was messy from 2019 to now, the original SS3 was literally SELLING OUT in their us store... and with the recent delays and little to no promotion from Capitol in the beginning, this was gonna underperform in the charts, but at least it’s platinum In eligibility in the US
