As a Prince fan I'm glad Mariah broke that "record". But to be fair I think there's a giant asterisk next to both songs, as there were very specific circumstances mitigating each drop (and both songs have had multiple chart runs where they fell off from more realistic numbers).

Like all other statistics, this too can have subcategories and as many qualifiers as people want.
The biggest drop by a lead female solo artist with a Christmas song that fell off on a 2nd or later chart run.

Better Now is going to barely miss having 20 weeks in the top 10. It's a shame considering it had 3 consecutive weeks at 11.

I'm just glad Prince doesn't have it any more.

There’s also the asterisk that both songs were recurrent-eligible and this only needed to fall below #50 to leave the chart. The biggest exit from the Hot 100 organically would be We Might Be Dead By Tomorrow from #9. (Which went down to #21 on Hot Rock vs the highest rep on the Hot 100 that week, The Walker, being #13)

Hopefully it will get the unbeatable record next year by falling off the Hot 100 from #1.

Queen Mimi still breaking records :'( Yup. Watch billboard change the rules. :). Record companies are going to be pissed now that Christmas songs are charting better than their artists songs.

Congrats to Halsey, although I wish this was happening to "Now or Never" or "Alone".

Queen Mimi still breaking records Yup. Watch billboard change the rules. . Record companies are going to be pissed now that Christmas songs are charting better than their artists songs. Record companies won't get pissed because people listen to Christmas songs at Christmas. They always have. Tracking of that with streaming may finally be more accurate. The standard titles that are traditionally popular will become more visible, more artists may be inclined to release new material

New songs may have a hard time breaking through Christmas is about tradition, same is true for the songs - as can be seen by what charted this year We may see the "standards" out earlier with heavier marketing

Lmao Ariana is white, she's Italian. Halsey is in the same situation as Logic, where she's white but I guess her father was black and her mother was white so technically she's biracial? I don't understand how all that stuff works. Anyways, I think the statement from Kelly Price is stupid since last year's #1's were mostly by people of color, 3 of which were by women of color.

You'll see this with mixed Asian/white people. A lot of them will be considered white in Japan, but Asian in the west.

Didn't every #1 have at least 1 POC? The only one I don't count is TUN. Im sorry I just see Ariana as white and so does my community.

I just didnt know Halsey was black based off of her features. My bad oops

Really happy "Without Me" managed to get the #1! I'm hoping "High Hopes" could reach a new peak in the coming weeks with its continued gains in airplay and its solid gains on spotify. Is it possible it could challenge for #1 at some point? Maybe with a well timed discount on iTunes when it peaks on airplay?
