As I work on this I’m surprised to not see this song on the list.
I imagine it bubbling under 100? having had a peak of #16 because Billy Squier's, the Stroke made the list with a #17.

Sent. This year is by far the worst in the 80s. I have memories from songs that I heard on the radio starting in 1977-78 but except for a few songs, I couldn't remember anything from 1981. I wonder if 1981 was the year I decided to listen to classical music all day or the radio stations from my country wisely decided to protect us from so many crappy songs. Luckly, 1982 is so much better.

I still maintain that 1981 had some really great music, it's just that a lot of it didn't make this particular list.

Hate to do this as I've been wanting to do all of the 80s rankdowns ever since I actually started doing them...but yeah, I'm not submitting for this. I tried listening to a portion of the list a few days ago...nothing very inspiring there, and none of the remaining songs that I recognize compel me enough to do this. Seriously, there isn't a single song that I recognize here that I'd give a 4/5 or higher to (every other year I've done has at least 3 of them). Please tag me for results though (and the 1982 list has quite a few songs that I love, so I should be back for that one).

The winner will be "The Tide Is High", calling my shot now. It wouldn't surprise me if it's an all-Blondie top two, though I imagine "Rapture" will have more low rankings. "Bette Davis Eyes" could be a dark horse. "Another One Bites the Dust" will be top ten, but I have a feeling it got tanked just enough for it not to win. If "Upside Down" was top five in 1980, then "I'm Coming Out" will be somewhere in the top ten, too.
As for the bottom ten...I know what I want to see down there, but I'm not so sure they'll be there. I do have a hunch that "Elvira" is there, though.
