Shelby Lynn winning was an utter COMPLETE abomination. Jill Scott deserved it.

1990 should have been the Indigo Girls.
1992 should have been Boyz II Men.
1996 should have been Shania Twain.
1997 should have been No Doubt, apologies to LeAnn though.
2000 should have been Britney. Sorry Xtina.
2011 should have been Florence + The Machine. (Literally anyone else would have been a better pick than Esperanza).
2014 should have been Kendrick Lamar.
2016 was weak af. Maybe Meghan? IDK.

Some of y'all really doing injustices to both Esperanza and Bon Iver with your picks. They're two of the most musically brilliant winners or nominees of these past two decades.

All of these Best New Arist winners had multiple successful albums and/or other projects and to that end can't be considered "cursed."
Mariah Carey Toni Braxton Sheryl Crow Hootie & The Blowfish/Darius Rucker LeAnn Rimes Christina Aguilera Alicia Keys Norah Jones Maroon 5 John Legend Carrie Underwood Adele Zac Brown Band
Some of the recent winners remain to be seen. Regardless, I think this easily shows there is no actual curse.

Well, most of us likely aren't familiar with their output. I know they've each released albums since their wins and think they were critically hailed, but I haven't heard much about the releases/artists otherwise.
