I know its airplay is still huge, but how is Girls Like You still projected to be #7 next week? Is the chart just that weak right now?

It should be a good amount of the population gets most of there music from radio. Should be 40% radio 40% streaming 20% sales radio and streaming aren't equal though, streaming is certainly more dominant. Also, no way in hell that sales are that important Streaming isn't more dominant.......

The charts are meant to reflect what the General Population consumes the most. Streaming reflects a more accurate representation of what individuals directly consume as to where radio stations play what is considered popular among its listeners ie not much of a direct and on purpose consumption of music. If you ask me, radio audience impressions should have leat weight among the three metrics. Streaming is the more dominant factor right now, like it or not.

Lady Gaga promised that she is pulling "Do What You Like" from all streaming / sales platforms. Understandable, but this just reinforces the weakening argument for owning your songs as opposed to streaming them. Exactly - I 'lose' about 10-20 a month on streaming - so anything catalog that I really want, I've bought. In this case, LG could swap out Kells version with her solo version. I still question her judgment on recording with him and that cringe-worthy live performance.

Streaming is a more dominant factor in the chart because it displays a more accurate representation what people choose to listen to. The argument that fewer people stream than listen to the radio is fallacious because of the way how audience impressions work.

Streaming is far more accurate on what listeners want. IMO pepole just listen to radio when on the car, supermarket and not really listening into it they just want to have a background music. While in streaming you choose music you want plus chart manipulation payola to be exactly are dominant on radio where record labels want us to swallow the song they like to be a hit.

Yes Its overall weakness was one of the main reason GLY stayed at #1 for as many weeks as it did. The other thing that continues to be its strength is that its video continues to be popular on YouTube. It was still #6 there last week after 32 weeks.

What do you all think will happen to R.Kelly and his legacy from here onward?
His airplay in the U.S has decreased tremendously since last week - I checked via mediabse and even Bobby Brown has scored more airplay this week. LMFAO
• Will he score a Hot 100 charting hit again?
• Will he still be popularly known as “The King of R&B”?
• Will radio stations even play new music from him if he were to ever release?

Yes Not really. “GLY” would have been #7 or #8 with its current chart points on most of the Hot 100s in the past 6 or more months. I’m looking at Simon’s predictions from this past July, and “GLY” would have still been #5-7 then. So, this particular chart time is pretty normal in that part of the chart.

And this is the problem with radio. And I think at one point Drake had like 18 songs inside the top 20 on Spotify? Radio has it's own research to determine what their listeners want to hear so they don't change the station. If that's two Ariana Grande songs in a row, they'll play two Ariana Grande songs in a row.

Random, but I was looking up the Billboard archives for Roy Orbison because of motives and found out that "Oh, Pretty Woman" is credited to "Roy Orbison And The Candy Men". Never had I ever heard of no Candy Men so I did some research, and on the Billboard site, they have only one Hot 100 hit, a song called "Georgia Pines" (I confirmed that these are the same Candy Men thanks to Wikipedia). So, if they are officially credited for "Oh, Pretty Woman", why is that not acknowledged as their #1 hit too, but solely Orbison's?

LMFAO • Will he score a Hot 100 charting hit again? • Will he still be popularly known as “The King of R&B”? • Will radio stations even play new music from him if he were to ever release? 1. R. Kelly hasn't had a Hot 100 hit as a lead artist in five years, and I use the word 'hit' loosely because the two he did have this decade peaked at #89 and #93. Controversy aside, R. Kelly hasn't been relevant to the charts in quite some time, so it's a bit of a moot point to wonder how current news could affect him. 2. I think this depends on how Gen-Z and younger millennials feel about him. The people who give him that title now and are boosting his music post-documentary are gen-x'ers and older millennials who came of age when R. Kelly was at his peak, but they are no longer the demographic that defines trends or moves units. Younger listeners/musicians not only have no connection to him, but most of them have baby boomer parents; i.e. they weren't raised by people who were young enough to be into R. Kelly heavily, thus didn't grow up hearing his music being played around the house. So his musical legacy could fall off as more r&b singers with little to no Kellz influence enter the game. 6lack is certainly not going to be giving him props any time soon, but I don't know if that's indicative of how his similarly aged peers feel. 3. Other than UAC, radio wasn't playing him anyway; again, he hasn't been relevant in over a decade, DWUW aside. Even UAC likely won't touch him now - not ALL of us old heads are here for him, and the # of listeners stations would lose isn't worth appeasing the # of listeners who aren't bothered.

Lukas Graham's Love Someone charted last week, I hope it holds on and maybe become a decent hit. It's the type of song that could be played forever by AC radio

Yeah the new Gesaffelstein and The Weeknd has the potential to be a hit. Can see it performing similarly to "Pray for Me" on radio.

Well the ‘stunt’ worked because ARTFLOP bolted iinto Top 80 of iTunes before the track was dropped. Now, GaGa’s incompetent teams didn’t realize that when track was dropped, you can buy the album - it’s track-by-track only. They’ll need to reissue without a track missing to resume album sales. Not that it’ll matter since the album wasn’t selling before today’s drama.
