Well, clearly the Pentatonix songs are at least Christian or Christian themed, not sure how or why 21 pilots gets that designation.

21P (for some reason) get some spins on Christian Rock, so it makes sense they are on there (kind of), but I'm more confused by The Band Perry, Martina McBride, Kesha and Chris Young. Those songs are not Christian and never received any airplay anywhere (to my memory). Maybe some of them did, but none of them are Christian songs.

Either way, neat to see a lot of actual Christian songs getting certifications!

By that logic, all Christmas songs should be counted as "Christian". Even though it's a secular holiday.

Though apparently, they got two songs on Christian airplay, with "Mary, Did You Know?" peaking at #23, and "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" peaking at #48. So I guess it counts.

No, if you want to be technical some of the “traditions” have pagan origins and the timing is near a pagan holiday, but “Christmas” has always been about celebrating the birth of Christ.

The commercialized behemoth of a holiday we have now has largely been secularized, but Saint Nicholas was real and Christian and the Nativity, while rarely biblically correct is still about Christ in the manger. Easter, though not by the name “Easter” as that is also pagan origin, has much earlier roots.

Roman culture was filled with Pagan Holidays and when Constantine legalized Christianity, to get citizens used to it they set up Christian Holidays to sort of take the place of the old ones. Easter, with the exception of the name is the exception since it is based on the actual day of Ressurection, and it is unclear when and why Pagan practice from Old Testament times became part of the traditions. You can find the Old story in the Old Testament though.
