Tim McGraw has NEVER had four consecutive misses of the top ten in his career. I am hoping Thought About You returns him to the top ten and even better, the #1 position.

I really love this one and it's seemed to me right from the start that most people seemed to prefer it to "Neon Church". "Thought about You" also already has the same amount of streams on spotify at 5.5 million as "Neon Church" despite "Neon Church" being the first single. But I can't help but think that going with something brand new that no one's ever heard before would have created more buzz and gave the second single a better chance to succeed, especially in terms of sales.

Yikes, this era has become a mess already. Why did they release this already if they thought it had potential to be a single at one point. Since its already been out, there is going to be zero buzz to start for this one. Doesn't completely doom its chances, but just doesn't seem smart.
The song is great though, and hits that midtempo sweet spot I enjoy. Nice show of emotion from Tim singing on this. I hope this can do well for him, but as already stated above, this just seems like an odd decision to release this over a brand new unheard song.

This would've been a great lead single imo. Nothing against "Neon Church" but this would've been the better choice.

I was obsessed with this in October when it was released and still love it now. I won't lie, I also worry about how it will do on the charts since it was released so long ago, but I hope that the fact that this song is so stellar that it won't matter.
Question as well. Who do you think he is talking about in this song? I don't mean in real life or anything... is it an ex? A family member? What do you think?

I love this; the chorus is amazing. I liked "Neon Church" too, but this should have definitely been the lead single.

This is perfect. I didn't care for "Neon Church" but this is the Tim McGraw I love. I would guess Tim has a few hits left in him, although it's amazing how quickly his momentum has faded since he left Big Machine and signed with Sony.

I think the loss of momentum has less to do with the label switch and more to do with the duets album.

I personally think Tim McGraw wanted to sign with Sony at the same time Faith Hill was. Why he left Big Machine is still puzzling to me. After all, he was still having success with them. I do not know if the new Sony contract had Hill and McGraw starting with a duets album. I think it would have been better seeing solo projects out of Hill and McGraw first. Then a duets album would have made sense. I know people wanted a duets album for what seemed like forever.

I’ve loved a lot of their duets over the years, but the album (and singles) just weren’t good.
Maybe it benefited Faith’s deal to sign them both? Idk.

It feels so weird on going with this old second option now and weren't they originally referring to it as a "non-album track"? I'm ecstatic for it to make said album but wish he had something else good enough to send out right now. :/

He actually said in a Bobby Bones interview at the time Neon Church was released (you can find it on YT) that they wanted to release two songs that were single worthy. I took it as hype for the future album, and haven’t even listened to it yet, but maybe they picked the wrong one.

Written by Brad Warren, Brett Warren and Lee Thomas Miller.
Thomas Lee Miller also had writing credit on Tim's Nothin' To Die For, Whiskey and You (Chris Stapleton), and Southern Girl

The single choices from the duets album were the issue, not the duets project itself imo. But, given how Tim McGraw has literally not picked a slam-dunk hit as a lead single for like... a decade now, I don't think anyone should even be surprised that "Neon Church" faltered. I personally really enjoyed the song and was rooting for it to do a lot better than it did, but he seems to have an unusual knack for not being able to pick the right lead singles, lol. For me, I honestly like "Neon Church" a little more than this one, but I do enjoy both and hope that this one goes over better for him at radio. Both tracks have a nice moodiness to them production-wise and in their vocal delivery that I quite like.

I liked both singles, but didn't love either. This would have been the better choice for a lead single at radio, but now it seems he's lost momentum. Hard to see this smashing.

Tim will get an interesting opportunity to boost this song out the gate as a live performance will be broadcast of it during the Super Bowl pregame on Sunday (per an ad in Country Aircheck).

I'm not sure if I like this or "Neon Church" more, but neither are very good, imo. Disappointed this is the follow-up single because it did nothing for me when it was first released. I hope this gets Tim's album out though and hopefully there are some good songs there that will make up for these two mediocre songs.

This is a fantastic song and a great choice for a single. I've listened to it a ton since it first came out a few months ago and I never get tired of it. I also loved "Neon Church" but I agree with the majority that this should have been the lead single. I really hope this does well for Tim.

I really like this. I wish that “Neon Church” had done better, since I liked that one as well, but I think that this is my favourite of the two. I just hope that its age doesn’t prevent it from being a big hit.
It debuts at #59 on this week’s Billboard airplay chart.
