Jesus. I go out of town for the weekend, and y'all start burning the house down!
"All Things Considered" is a fantastic, catchy song. Like most people though, I am shocked to see it do so well, but only because old irrelevant groups usually do worse than artists who are still active today in these rankdowns.
"How Forever Feels" is an iconic jam from Kenny Chesney! One of his best for sure! I can see why it makes sense to hate him on the '00s, but imo his '90s output stands up very well alongside other popular artists. There is literally no reason to hate this song. If it was sang by George Strait, I have no doubt it would have done much better here...
Speaking of songs that there is literally no reason to hate, how the hell is "Breathe" out already??!?!!?!?!?! This song may be overplayed, but Faith turns in such a confident and powerful performance. This song will go down in history as one of the greatest female country vocal performances of all time.
"Gone Crazy" is one of my favorite Alan Jackson songs
I especially love the way he randomly jumps down to a low note in the "but you can't live without" line. This entire song is such a smooth, relaxing experience. And Alan emotes with the best of them in this song.
"For A Little While" UGH another one gone too soon :'( "For A Little While" may have been a huge hit for Tim McGraw, but I still consider it to be one of his most underrated huge hits. This song is so catchy, but in a unique and memorable way.
The jams keep coming... "Man! I Feel Like A Woman!" is one of the most iconic country songs of our entire lifetimes. Thank God Shania isn't here to see all this mistreatment... This song deserved at least top 20.
I'm shocked to see "Spirit Of A Boy, Wisdom Of A Man" last so long, if only because Randy Travis' most impactful years predate a lot of Pulse's collective awareness. He doesn't tend to get as much love as newer '90s artists. It is nice to see him do well every once in awhile!
"Pop A Top" is catchy, but I am surprised to see it last so long. Alan's whimsical songs tend to do more poorly than they deserve. I expected this to leave before "Gone Crazy".
"Fool, I'm A Woman" is a catchy, fantastic, underrated jam!!!!! I had no idea what to expect from it here, because of how underrated it is. It hurts to see it leave, but then again I am not surprised considering how little of an impact it made compared to most of the songs that are left.
I have tried so hard to get into "Who Needs Pictures", because I love most of Brad Paisley's output. But tbh, this song is just plain boring, and it doesn't become any less so the longer I listen to it.
"(Now You See Me) Now You Don't" is one that I always think of when I consider Lee Ann's most iconic hits. This song is SO catchy!!!
"Please Remember Me" - NOPE. Out of all of the shit tastes that have been revealed this weekend, this is the one that pisses me off the most. "Please Remember Me" is Tim McGraw's best song. The melody is so epic, and he really sold his soul to pull off this vocal performance. Seriously, this is a harder song to sing than any modern male country superstar has ever even
attempted to record. I knew this would have at least one tanker, but the fact that this is not a top 10 contender is unacceptable.
"Unbelievable" is one of those songs that immediately takes me back to my childhood. This song was seemingly everywhere when I was a kid! It is catchy, and definitely one of my top 5 Diamond Rio songs. But this feels like a good time for it to leave.
Pleased to see "Little Man" do so well!! It is a fantastic song, but nobody ever talks about it. I consider it to be one of Alan's most forgotten hits. Plus since we haven't had an Alan Jackson rankdown yet, I have no idea how it compares to his other hits. I look forward to seeing how this one fares when that rankdown does happen!
UUUUGGGGGHHHH "Stand Beside Me" should have been a lock for the top 10. Jo Dee has one of the most radio friendly voices of any country female vocalist, and the way she emotes is second only to Queen Reba herself (in terms of modern superstars). I am pretty sure some people might be subconsciously under-ranking her because she has seen so much success in some other year-end rankdowns...
I never know how Terri Clark is going to do in these rankdowns, so I am actually pleasantly surprised to see "You're Easy On The Eyes" so close to the top 20! This song is iconic and amazing, but is admittedly one of Terri's big hits that has taken the longest to grow on me. She is so consistently perfect though that she deserves all the success she can get! I would love to see her win a rankdown one of these days, because her output shows more consistency than most of her peers.
