What's crazy is a song like Year 3000 which is what 13 years old is moving up the Itunes chart because of the new song.

Seriously rooting for Shallow to hit #1 - I want Gaga to have another #1 in case she never gets there again! And Bradley Cooper to get his first #1 (and probably his last)! and before Nicki Minaj

And it took me 13 years to found out that the Jonas Brothers released a cover of this song (I only found out about this today) lol I only knew the original by Busted (which was hit over here)

Jonas Brothers is now #2 on Apple Music! Also a 3x lead over Shallow on iTunes, and 11x lead over the #3 song on iTunes. Insane. There did feel like a decent amount of hype the past few days on social media, but nobody could've expected this first day. The nostalgia is real. Reminds me of how Burnin' Up, S.O.S., Love Bug, and Year 3000 all did feel like hits back then. Only Burnin' Up went top 10 though. JoBros got virtually no radio support back then, and since they peaked right before iTunes really took off they didn't really have a chance to get a lot of big chart hits.

My head is spinning that the Jonas Brothers have been around long enough for people to consider them a nostalgia act. I started following the charts when Nick Jonas was still in diapers.

Yeah, how big they were wasn't truly shown especially on Hot 100. In Summer 2008, their promo single 'A Little Bit Longer' reached #11 on Hot 100, then the following week the album of the same name debuted #1 with 525,000 first week. They were clearly big then, and could've easily sent multiple other singles top 10 if their team actually cared about that. I doubt they did, seeing as Disney stars in general weren't focused on huge chart singles then. It was all about pushing their music to the Disney audience and getting them to engage time & money in the bigger projects (i.e. the albums, movies, tours, TV shows, merchandise, etc). The Disney stars were pushed as all around brands/cash machines. High School Musical also had 2 top 10s, and 8 songs chart at once. They could've been the original Glee Cast in regards to Hot 100, if their label/Disney actually cared about the charts then, and had iTunes taken off more at that point.

Streaming has opened up a few things besides hip hop dominance
In a world where Baby Shark can be a hit, there is certainly room for the Jonas Brothers

They were impacting in the late 00s, and iTunes was very impactful at that point; it's the reason "Burning Up" went top 5 on the Hot 100. The real issue is they never had much radio support (no single went top 10 there), though I don't know how much their label really sought hits.

Teenage acts like The Jonas Brothers, Demi Lovato, Hannah Montana and Justin Bieber all sold really well during that time, but radio didn't bite. The only ones who managed to transition into radio were Demi and Justin, and to a lesser degree, Miley. I don't expect the Jonas song to do much... iTunes will probably drop a lot after initial interest and I don't see streaming outside of Youtube doing much to help the song.

And just like that -- they've topped Apple Music, the biggest streaming service in America.

Don't know if this was stated before but if Shallow does hit number one on its 22nd week on the charts, it would match Just Dance which also hit number one on its 22nd week 10 years ago.

Why isn’t Kworb loading up the daily US overall radio charts? Has anyone happen to have gotten today’s update?

It might drop a lot, but it has probably already sold enough to top Digital Songs for the week. It's also #1 streaming on Apple Music, so it's doing something. A top 10 debut seems likely, so good for them.

We'll see. Depending on how hard Gaga/Bradley drop, #1 might not be more than 50k this week, as usual. It's pulling impressive numbers for them regardless. Especially considering how hard DNCE and Nick bombed with their last few releases (which probably triggered the return of their original band).

"Please Me" debuted at #1 Digital Songs a couple weeks ago with 51k sold. Based on its current lead, I think "Sucker" at least match that total. I think it's also doing better on Apple Music than "PM" did. Obviously it has to hold up at least a little to debut big, but even these 1 day totals will be competitive for the week.

It's also nearing 12 million views on YouTube. It can at least pull a BTS type of run. Debut high, than quickly drop like a rock because no one actually cares that much.

Jonas Brothers, Miley Cyrus and High School Musical (and Camp Rock as well) sold a lot of albums so even if they didn't get that big Hot 100 success at their Disney fame pick it didn't matter that much
But who would have thought on the tween/teen cable TV star generation, the one that would successfully transition to pop star success is the one from Nickelodeon? Ariana Grande was not even the lead star of her first Nick show right?

Though I think Miranda's was while she was the star of 'ICarly'. She wasn't the lead of her first Nick show though, Drake Bell and Josh Peck were. But Gomez and Cyrus continued to do well after their child star career. Though Cyrus's career isn't exactly looking hopeful in terms of popularity at this point, Bangerz was a pretty big era. And I'm not sure what Gomez is doing at this point, just releasing a bunch of one-off singles, but they still are at least minor hits usually.

Miley's had at least 5 legitimate mainstream hits, and of course is a big name in general. Selena Gomez is a fairly reliable hitmaker in that she's had around 10 songs go top 10 at top 40 radio.

Apple Music, the biggest streaming service in America. Just wanted to point out that this isn't correct. Apple Music has the most subscribers in the US, but both Spotify and YouTube have a larger userbase overall as Apple doesn't have a free service like the other two.

Yeah, it monopolizes the charts more than any other streaming service is what I meant. Both Spotify & Apple Music's #1s average 10-15 million streams a week, however all of Apple's streams are fully counted while a good portion of Spotify's are reduced. All YouTube streams are reduced, and only when something is pulling abnormally big YouTube views are YouTube streams represented the most.
