With or Without You is a song that's always strongly resonated with me, wish that could've gone further.

What a kick in the groin I recieved tonight. 8D (I don't know what I did there? "Careless Whisper" is the best 100% pop song of all time. . Not one of you have a romantic bone in your body. " With or Without You" blows the piss out of "I Still Haven't Found....""Papa Dopn't Preach" blows the fur off "Like A Prayer" Speaking of PrayerMy only prayer left here is 80's New Wave all stars....and a song about a red car.

Overall, a good set of reveals from 50-41: 50. Shout (59): Second best T4F song goes second. Good! Definitely a strong, epic song that still sounds good. Good to see it around this spot. 49. Raspberry Beret (67): This was the highest song that I had previously ranked below #30 in an annual RD. So yeah, I gave it another chance and managed to appreciate it a bit better. I've always liked the song but just felt it wasn't that big of a deal. This is not Prince's least interesting or strong that remains in this RD however, IMO. 48. Faith (72): A bit too simple or uninteresting among so many strong songs in this RD. This was my lowest GM or Wham! song in this RD, so good to see it leave now -finally. 47. I Love Rock'n Roll (40): Definitely a classic female rock song. I thought I was going to rank it a bit higher but I think it lacked a bit of extra oomph or uniqueness for me to rank it a bit higher. 46. Higher Love (51): Another song I gave another chance in this RD and I managed to rank higher than its position in the annual RD. I think Chaka's vocals played an important role, too. 45. Dancing In The Dark (29): One of my favorite songs from 1984, especially its long version. It's a classic 1980s hit in sound and visuals. It may be a bit too simple pop for the RD, though, so I can see i being in the 40s. Don't mind this loss that much. 44. Express Yourself (71): I think this is one of the cases where the remix is much better than the original. Still, not a song I'd rank amongst her top 10 of the 1980s. 43. The Boys of Summer (22): Aww... Too low for this gem. Really strong pop-rock melody and vocals that also sounded good in dance and punk rock covers. 42. Father Figure (61): Fair position for this one. 41. Man In The Mirror (75): Good to see another song in my 70s finally leave. Although there's another MJ song that should've left before this one...

And then a HORRIBLE 40-36 set. WTF happened here???
40. Total Eclipse of the Heart (7): WTF?!!!! One of the most epic songs ever IMO. Great production, melody, lyrics, attitude, uniqueness. Like the opposite of a single-melody song like 1999 --that I can't see how it's still left, geez!
39. What's Love Got To Do With It (44): Fair position for this one. A pretty song AC song, with strong melody and musicality.
38. With Or Without You (6): WTF??!!!! Are we sure that this is not I Still Haven't Found... like NOPE, this is by far the better song. One of the strongest rock ballads of the 1900s. Now I'm nervous for Every Breath...
37. Careless Whisper (3): Another WTF??!!!! Even Freddie Mercury praised this song. A gem of the 1980s in terms of emotional vocals, music (the sax!!!), production and structure (the slow intro, to the more dramatic final minute), lyrics. I mean, like the opposite to Fast Car, another song that should left eons ago!
36. Papa Don't Preach (14): ???!!!! Amongst my top 5 Madonna songs. One of her best vocal performances, with strong musicality, melody and lyrics. Quite shitty that this goes earlier than stuff like The Way You Make Me Feel. I love MJ, but no he didn't need to have so many songs in the top 40 --nor Prince.

Turns out I made an error with today's reveal; "Lovesong" is actually still in this. Sorry folks! And thank you to newpower for noticing the error!

Kiss deserved to be in the top 30, but I'm glad Rock With You is leaving earlier than you'd expect a #2 to. Edit: Also pretty happy with HLTW being out.

Well, let's look at these reveals:
35. Kiss---Oof. I think this was one of the best pure pop songs of the 1980s (yeah, I know Prince was more R&B, but hear me out). Prince's urge for a girl to just be herself and then things will work out...that sounds and feels like pop to me. Maybe some of you didn't want to twirl...or preferred Tom Jones's version? Fine. But The Art of Noise had nothing on Prince's guitar work.
34. Rock with You---Yeah, this is more acceptable. I found that his early 80s material pre-Beat It lacked in comparison to the music he performed at the peak of his popularity. Maybe it was the disco accents that reminded me of a genre that I'm not particularly fond of? There's another one of his songs that I wish would just rock its way out.
33. 1999---Fun dance number, but lacking a certain something that Prince's best songs had.
32. Hungry Like the Wolf---Now I see possibly why Gates wanted out...he didn't want people to react to his rankings of 1980s classics that'll still here. I think the sincerity of Simon Le Bon helps sell this. The video is of course iconic, although I rated these by the song content. Despite my ranking, it's a fine song.
31. The Way You Make Me Feel---Good enough spot for this one. I think it has one of Michael's finest moments at the beginning...The Way You Knock Me Off My Feet Now Baby, whoo! The song which I think is about love at its early stages has a nice uptempo feel that makes it go well on a summer playlist.
I respectfully disagree with those urging Fast Car to vroom out (the bluesy storytelling is the main draw). On the other hand, I think it's past time for Cyndi Lauper to leave (PS: why this song and not the iconic Girls Just Wanna Have Fun?).

Losing "Rock with You" kind of sucks, and I especially don't care for "The Way You Make Me Feel" finishing higher than it.
Other than that, this set wasn't the worst thing in the world.

#32. Hungry Like The Wolf - Duran DuranDuran Duran music out of the top 15 is a total disgrace to music in general. 8D #33 . - 1999- PrinceNeeded to be higher than all the remaining Michael Jackson songs. True story. #34 . Rock With You - Michael JacksonSomeone actually ranked this at #99. Did this one rock to hard for you? :kii: This is what ends up happening when you don't tank the correct acoustic pop song.

Can PSB and (one of the songs by) Eurythmics please leave? I think I hate your list for this rankdown more than any other list anyone has submitted for any rankdown in history And I say this having felt firsthand the effects of LBTRocks and ChicaCherryCola on 2018 Active
