1) What will be #1? "What Do You Say" 2) What will be #14? "If I Fell" 3) Which songs will be in the top 5? Other than "What do You Say" and "I'll Be" in the top two I think it's really anyone's guess as to how this'll play out. Because of single bias I'll say that "We're So Good Together" makes the top five leaving possibly "Back Before the War" and "I'm Not Your Girl" as the two album tracks. The bonus track "'Til I Said It To You" is also worthy of a top five showing. 4) What song will be most polarizing? "Roses" Least polarizing? "What Do You Say" 5) Which of the singles will place highest? Where will it place? "What Do You Say" for the win 6) Which of the singles will place lowest? Where will it place? "We're So Good Together" in the top four 7) What will be the highest-placing album track? Where will it place? As mentioned above either "Back Before the War" or "I'm Not Your Girl" in the top five 8) Any other thoughts/predictions? I had mentioned this privately to bboat11 but I think there's an underlying theme to the songs in the album which might tell us a lot more about what might've been going on in Reba's personal life at the time. Just like with her most recent studio album Stronger Than The Truth dealt with the end of her marriage, one could gather from some of the lyrics here that there might've already been trouble with their relationship which lead her to select the songs that she did. Not to dissect this too much, but I ended up going back to look over the songs and some of the lyrics to highlight this point: "Back Before the War": So much we didn't say, so much we never heard Do you remember when I was all that you were living for My dreams were yours, your dreams were mine back before we fell so out of touch
"I'm Not Your Girl": See, I've been here before, left a good thing behind Can't see where I'm going, maybe love's really blind I'm so afraid to lose the one, who was so hard to find"'Till I Said It to You": Say what you mean or it doesn't mean nothing Love is a dangerous door to open If you don't feel it when its spoken"She Wasn't Good Enough for Him": She was there on his bad days And for years he led her on He kept her out there on a limb Wouldn't let her go, wouldn't let her in"Roses": She lays in the darkness With tears on her face While he talks in his sleep Confessing his love And calls out a name she's never heard ofAlong with that a handful of the other songs such as "I'll Be", "We're So Good Together", "Where You End and I Begin", and "When You're Not Trying To" deal more with a lover reminding the other one that she loves the little things that he does, will always be there for him, and wants to make this work. Anyways, like I said above I probably put too much thought into this but it's just a hunch I had as to why the album turned out the way it did.

1) What will be #1? "What Do You Say" 2) What will be #14? "We're All Alone" 3) Which songs will be in the top 5? The singles, plus "I'm Not Your Girl" and "Back Before The War" 4) What song will be most polarizing? Least polarizing? Most - "Roses"; Least - "What Do You Say" 5) Which of the singles will place highest? Where will it place? (What Do You Say, I'll Be, We're So Good Together) "What Do You Say" at #1 6) Which of the singles will place lowest? Where will it place? "We're So Good Together at #3 7) What will be the highest-placing album track? Where will it place? "I'm Not Your Girl" at #4 8) Any other thoughts/predictions? I think tim's thoughts are really interesting about the state of Reba's marriage being reflected in the song choices. I'm not so sure that they were having problems then, but it certainly is an interesting take. I know that in the Country Weekly cover story Reba did promoting the album, she mentions that "Back Before The War" reminds her of her divorce from Charlie Battles. While this is my least favourite album of Reba's during her prime, it is still a good record. I will never understand why "We're So Good Together" stalled out in the top 20 like it did. Reba would use it as her concert opener for years to come, only stopping about 5 years ago. Had it not stalled out, I'm sure that one of "Back Before The War", "I'm Not Your Girl" or "Til I Said It To You" (probably the latter) would have been released as a fourth single.

Close the window, calm the lights, And it will be alright. No need to bother now. Let it out, let it all begin, And learn how to pretend.

Seemed like about damn time for me to start this The first bite we take out of this album is closing track for the regular album, "We're All Alone". This is a power ballad of epic proportions, meant to end the album on a strong note no doubt. Unfortunately, the fact that it is half in Spanish TOTALLY takes me out of the song! Reba's part is so beautiful and powerful...and then she ditches us for the majority of the rest of the song The song is a classic, covered by several people though the years...but I am not entirely sure where the Spanish came from? Was that something that had been done before, or did Reba do it just to be creative? Either way, that is a creative decision was a swing and a miss for me. The Reba solo version (posted above) is sooooo much better!!

This song was great until the damn spanish guy came in. I had to listen to this album on youtube, and was blessed to be one of the ones to find the 'Reba only' version before I did my rankings. It was SO much better.

Tied for last place but escaping the bottom slot because it was overall a stronger performer in the rankdown, we say goodbye to our first bonus track! "If I Fell" is a Beatles cover, and imo Reba does a really nice job with it! The melody is really catchy, and all the harmonies are really cool. I think this song's biggest problem is that it does not fit this album at all, so it is really hard to rank! It is listed on Wikipedia as a track on the international version, but I think it was primarily designed to be a track on the I'll Be compilation that was released in Europe about a year after this album, because I don't think it was on the international version of the album that I ordered a couple years ago, while "I Like It That Way" was. So I'm not sure what the deal is there. Regardless, it just sounds super out of place here, and so I am not at all surprised to see it leaving in the bottom 2.

Ugh, you guys should know by now how I feel about songs where the chorus is almost entirely sung by the background vocalists, while the lead vocalist just ad-libs around what the backgrounds are saying... One of my least favorite styles EVER, and I hate it 99% of the time (the 1% exception being Reba's own "What If"). On top of that, the minor key of this song was just not at all engaging or appealing to my ears. This was an easy last-place for me

Our second and final bonus track bows out next. "I Like It That Way" was actually a pretty strong contender here for an obscure international bonus track! It was poised to finish at #10, before stumbling slightly at the last minute. To me, this sounds like a song that would have done much better if it was available as part of the regular album. All that we really have to go on is a crappy YouTube video, but you can tell that at the bones this has the makings of a classic Reba song. Certainly fits the album much better than "If I Fell". Anyway, we've managed to make it to the top 10 without anybody suffering a loss higher than their #5. I wonder how much longer that luck will last...

"If I Fell" was absolutely horrendous and quite possibly the worst Reba song I've ever heard. The other bonus track and the Spanish duet sucked, too. "Broken Heart" was okay though nothing that upsets me to see leave early.
This is honestly a pretty damn mediocre album by Reba's standards. I was so underwhelmed doing this RD. I really only cared for half the album, and the highs on this album don't really compete with the highs on most of her other albums. I think if we ranked say this + For My Broken Heart together i.e., my #1 for this album would probably only be as high as like #8 or 9.

For me this is one of those albums where a lot of the individual songs are better than the album as a whole. Like, the album may be underwhelming to listen to front to back, but when you remove songs from the context of the album, I struggle to imagine some of the best album tracks here sounding out of place or underwhelming alongside her best album tracks from other albums. I mean, I guess we'll find out when we do her '90s album tracks rankdown next!! But I personally cannot imagine something like "I'm Not Your Girl" (if it even makes the album tracks rd...) not giving something like "Bobby" or "He's In Dallas" a run for its money.

Considering "I Like It That Way" is a bonus track, I'm not surprised that it would leave this soon. This song sounds like classic Reba and therefore I"m not quite sure why they opted not to include this on the studio album. I agree with bboat11 that had it been this song likely would've performed much better.

"When You're Not Trying To" is a very weird song, but imo that is where it gets most of its charm. All the crunchy and unexpected chord progressions make the song not necessarily easy to listen to, but still not annoying or anything. Of course Reba's vocals are also a huge reason for why I like this song as much as I do. She absolutely nails this vocal performance!!
It was lucky to make the top 10, as it was pretty much our #11 contender for the entire submission process.
Edit: Also, this was written by Rory Feek of Joey + Rory!

Somewhere close to midnight, Another time, another place, She lays in the darkness With tears on her face. While he talks in his sleep Confessing his love, And calls out a name she's never heard of.
And the roses heard it all. The rose in the vase that set by their bed, The roses in the paper on the wall. There's a story to tell if roses could talk.

That's right, "Roses" is our most polarizing song, which probably isn't all that surprising given the way that the song sounds. This song is just sooooo bizarre, with its sparse arrangement and its sluggish melody. The song is a really strong lyrical song though, which is where it draws almost all of its strength imo! The lyrics are so picturesque, and all the roses surrounding the couple throughout their life kinda take on a sinister persona as they observe all the dirty laundry between the couple regarding his infidelity and her unhappiness. Still, I am SHOCKED this song got some extreme love near the top of people's lists. Especially because everybody who put this song near the top of their list actually had the audacity to put a note with their list saying that the album was underwhelming except for their top couple of songs. And then I go look and see mfing ROSES in their top 2!!!!!!! 😂😂😂 Like, how the f does somebody listen to this album, come away with the conclusion that it is boring, and have ROSES of all things as one of the few non-boring moments? To me, this is basically the song that could singlehandedly make the album seem more boring than it actually is

I love "Roses" and I stand by my #4. I will admit though, it's not one of the Reba songs I revisit too often. It's more so one of those have-to-be-in-the-mood numbers.
1. What Do You Say 2. I’ll Be 3. Til I Said It To You 4. We’re So Good Together 5. She Wasn’t Good Enough For Him 6. Where You End And I Begin 7. I’m Not Your Girl 8. Back Before The War

9. "Roses"
Std Dev: 4.31 (Largest!!!) 4) What song will be most polarizing? "Roses" 4) What song will be most polarizing? Least polarizing? Most - "Roses" Well, I guess we all saw that coming lol. I happen to fall into the camp that see this song as one of its highlights and looking back I'd probably move it up one or two spots as I don't think my #8 ranking reflects that. That said, I can see why this song would be a bore to others hence why I thought it would likely be one of the more polarizing songs. There was something about "When You're Not Trying To" that wasn't quite clicking with me as I completed my list for this album, but in revisiting it tonight I probably would say I under-ranked this by a couple of spots. Again, I don't seem to find this album as boring as others here but I would give y'all the point that there isn't a whole lot on here one would often want to revisit. Here's my predictions for the remaining songs: 8. Where You End and I Begin 7. She Wasn't Good Enough For Him 6. 'Til I Said It To You 5. Back Before the War 4. We're So Good Together 3. I'm Not Your Girl 2. I'll Be 1. What Do You Say

I love "Roses", I'd love to have seen a music video to bring these lyrics to life visually!
I'm not surprised it ended up in the middle of the rankdown, it was easily one of the more outthere songs of Reba's and I knew it'd be polarizing.
Other than that I'm pretty happy with the results so far! "We're So Good Together" is definitely benefitting from single bias at this point though.

She was good to make love to, And they did now and then. She was good to never ask When he'd be back again.
But she wasn't good enough for him, For his family or his friends. He kept her out there on a limb. Wouldn't let her go or let her in. She wasn't good enough for him.

Say hello to our first entrant to the album tracks rankdown! "She Wasn't Good Enough For Him" is a moving song that has always completely gutted me. The way the main character pours everything she has into her relationship with a man who does not appreciate her is heartbreaking. The lyrics that imply that all she is good for in his eyes is somebody to have sex with every once in awhile are especially provocative and sickening. "She was good to make love to, and they did now and then... But she wasn't good enough for him."
These are the types of relationships that psychologically destroy people. I feel soooo much compassion and sadness for this poor lady :( Of course the fact that it is delivered through Reba's voice makes it that much more powerful. SO glad to see this make our album tracks rankdown, because it absolutely deserves it!

Our next loss is a tough one :'( It was a huge top 3 contender for almost the entire rankdown, until the last couple of lists tanked it completely out of the top 5!! :'(
