Not surprised to see this one be in last place, although I do enjoy it. It is a bit of a sleepy song, but Reba sounds great.

"Ease The Fever" is catchy af, yet also a little bit too repetitive for me, so that was the reason for my lower rank. But man, I can't get it out of my head sometimes!

"Love By Love" seems to be essentially the title track from this album, in the sense that the album title seems to be derived from other lyrics in this song rather than the actual song title. And I can't even fathom why this song did so poorly overall! To me this was really catchy and felt like one of the missed hits of the album! Certainly a better single option than "Oh-hoh-hohonly yooooooouuuuuuuuu".

I think that "Who?" is a song that could probably be a lot better with an updated arrangement. This is about as dated and cheesy as it absolutely could have been, which in this case takes away from its appeal imo. Reba's youth here shows through imo because to me she doesn't really nail the energy of the song, making the cheesiness of the melody a nail in the coffin where it probably could have been a pretty fun song in her '90s catalog.

I feel like I underranked this upon further listens... I definitely should have switched this with "How Does It Feel To Be Free" or something to put this at #6 and that one at #9 on my list. Not only is "Indelibly" such a great vocab word to use in a song, but this is a ballad that is just made so much greater by Reba's delivery. The little vocal turns in the chorus are just so quintessentially Reba.

"Only You" is our first of two singles to be lost from this album. I am honestly always shocked that this isn't one of Reba's Patsy Cline covers, because this has always sounded 100% like a Patsy Cline song to me. And yes, that alludes to the fact that this sounds incredibly dated even for 1981. Like, it sounds like a cheesy '80s cover of a song from the '60s, hahaha. But she took it to #13 on the charts, after going top 5 with "Today All Over Again", so her career was finally starting to undeniably connect by the time this was released!
Nevertheless, Pulse does not hold this one in high regard in her career, as it finished bottom 3 in Reba's singles Rankdown.

"Gonna Love Ya (Till The Cows Come Home)" was a much better song than I expected from the title!!! With how dated and cheesy a lot of Reba's early '80s material is by default, I figured a song with a title as stupid as this would crank the cheesiness to the max. But alas, I was wrong! The steel guitar in this song is really well mixed, and the chorus is so sing-along friendly. Definitely one of the ones that I am planning to keep revisiting from this album!

My top 2 is the Top 2, happy to see that. Wasn't a big fan of this album in general tbh but it is always interesting to listen to early Reba.

Well, there's the surprise of the rankdown. There goes the top 5 hit of the album, which was pretty much on pace to be the winner for the entire rankdown, until .indulgecountry pushed it completely out of the top 2 at the last second with a top-half rank That speaks to how close things were towards the top of this list though! I have always thought this one was pretty catchy. It may not be remembered among her iconic hits (those really didn't start until the late '80s imo), but the "Is this how it is when it's over" chorus opener is one that always stays in my head and makes this song have an identity that helps it to stand out from some of her more forgettable singles of this stretch of her career. I have no doubt that this would have still pulled off a victory if we had more participants, but I don't think any of us will mind having a more exciting finish.

There you have it, we have a tie thanks to "Small Two-Bedroom Starter" and "There Ain't No Love" finishing with 28 points apiece! The tie-breaker went to the latter due to the fact that it also received multiple #1 ranks from .indulgecountry and castleoblivion26. A luxury which the former cannot claim to have received. Personally I am a bit flummoxed that "Two-Bedroom" was able to sneak ahead of "Today All Over Again". This is one of those old story songs that is just sooooooo campy and is made even worse with the fact that it has the same exact melody over and over and over and over again. Which works for something like "Harper Valley PTA", but imo holds this one back. Like, I can see why it might be a fan favorite after one listen, but it has no charm left in the tank for even a second listen... "There Ain't No Love" is definitely a fun song to see win the rankdown though! This one is really great, and definitely one that I keep coming back to! I could have possibly even ranked it a couple positions higher than I did. If we were going to have a surprise winner, I'm happy to see it be this one!!

Well, we can officially say this one happened. I'll go ahead and pause for a day to see if this burst of action inspires anyone else to get their shit together and submit for the What Am I Gonna Do About You rankdown But if not, I WILL be proceeding tomorrow with 7 lists, even if it means bitching about it every step of the way!
