"No Such Thing" is one of the things on this album that came closest to feeling like '80s album filler to me. That doesn't mean it's not good by any means though!! I feel like this album was a pretty big step up from the last one, as it definitely came from the part of Reba's career that is a bit more remembered and respected. This would probably still be around like #5 or 6 in the last album for me, haha.

I agree, I thought that this album was pretty solid overall. It's a shame there wasn't more interest in discovering more Reba.

Lol so the last time I did reveals, my dad called me right after the "Till It Snows In Mexico" reveal, and we talked for way too long, so I didn't provide commentary... And then I wasn't able to finish this up before my trip to see Queen Reba herself a couple days later!!!
So here's said commentary. "Till It Snows In Mexico" is just fine imo, so I was surprised to see it hold steady in the bottom 2! Definitely a tad dated, but I think Reba sounds great, and the melody kinda gets under your skin.

Well there's a bit of a surprise! This album losing its first single already, which was a pretty substantial and well-known top 5 hit, is definitely unusual for how these album rankdowns normally turn out! "Let The Music Lift You Up" is one that I consider to have aged the worst out of her '80s hits that are actually remembered, as it just sounds so cheesy and dated to me compared to the rest of her big hits from this time period, but nevertheless being as well-known as it is should contribute to some single bias, so to see it bow out already suggests how well we all seemed to enjoy this album on average! Sure it may have escaped the bottom 3 if we had more participants, but it was definitely never on pace to perform like you would typically expect a big hit to do.

"I Heard Her Cryin'" beat "Let The Music Lift You Up" by two points, sneaking out of the bottom 3 at the last second thanks to taylor's top 4 vote! I have always really liked the message of this one. It is important to remember how marital strife can affect children, and this song does a really great job of pointing out the guilt that a child will feel when they see their parents fighting, and putting the drama in perspective, all while turning it into a happy ending. "Sometimes when we're angry, we say things that aren't true" is a great line. That being said, this is one of those songs where the melody could come across as oddly sing-songy for the subject matter, so I can understand some of the lower ranks. It was never able to quite mount much of a rise despite having majority top 5 ranks, because the rest of this album was just so well-liked!

I'm shocked that "Why Not Tonight" managed to do as well as it did, because this is very obviously the most blatant example of '80s album filler on this album... It's a teensy bit catchy, but not enough to deserve to displace any of the incredible songs that are left, so I am glad it is at least leaving now. This tied with "I Heard Her Cryin'" but managed to sneak ahead due to nathanalbright's #2 rank!

"Lookin' For A New Love Story" is really catchy, so I am glad to see it in the top 5! I may have even underranked it a tad, in hindsight. But this album is one of my favorites of Reba's '80s output that we have ranked so far, so a #7 is still very much in my "really like it" range.
That being said, this is the obvious #5 compared to the four songs that are left imo, as the two #1 hits are both incredible, and "My Mind Is On You"/"Take Me Back" have both always been on my shortlist of missed hits from her.

"My Mind Is On You" is one of the least-disliked songs on this album, as the lowest rank it received is only a #7! That being said, the highest it got was only a #3, so there are also songs that are more beloved on this album. Still, this was the obvious #4 contender for basically the entire rankdown! I will not be surprised to see this do quite well in Reba's '80s album tracks rankdown. There's just something about this one that I find really engaging, and honestly I think it could have been a sizable hit. Although it is really apparent that this is from the same album as "What Am I Gonna Do About You", as the mixing of the guitar tone in the intro is basically identical. Haha there's nothing wrong with that, I just think "Oh I know what album this is from" the moment this song starts

"Take Me Back" is such a trip! I think this song is so freaking catchy, and I love that you can't really predict what's going to happen next the first time you hear it. The "ooo"s in the intro sound completely different from the really rhythmic melody of the opening verse, which again provides very little indication of the ear-candy chorus that is about to come! This song as a whole package just gets better the more I hear it. And despite some lower ranks, the majority seem to agree on average since this was the most prominent #3 contender for the entire rankdown. This will definitely put up a fight for my #1 in the '80s album tracks rd! With that, it's time for the predictable yet correct top 2!!!! Huge #1 hit vs huge #1 hit But which one will triumph?!?!! Stay tuned to find out!

Wow, I've gotta be honest, I did not expect the absolute DOMINANCE of "One Promise Too Late"!! I figured that both of these were so well-loved that they would remain pretty competitive! nathanalbright 's completely bizarre last-place rank for "What Am I Gonna Do" ended up being the biggest obstacle to that happening, but still, even if he hadn't done that it wouldn't have been exactly close. "One Promise" got a #1 rank from 5 out of the 7 participants, while I was the lone #1 ranker for the title track, so it is clear that that is the one that we wanted overall! Man, both of these are just so iconic So glad to see them both do so well! I have loved them both since the moment I discovered them when I bought Reba's #1s album in 2005. While I don't listen to her '80s albums as much as her '90s and later stuff, these are two that I always look forward to hearing.

"One Promise Too Late" was the perfect and rightful winner of this. Probably her 80s hit that holds up the most (or, in the very least, a dead heat with "Whoever's In New England, but I would give the edge to OPTL).

We're going to finish this series even if I have to drag you all kicking and screaming to the finish line!!! Queen Reba deserves a complete album series We have three more rounds til we're done with the '80s! We will be doing Unlimited (1982) and The Last One To Know (1987) now, followed by Behind The Scene (1983)/Reba(1988), and finally Just A Little Love (1984)/Sweet Sixteen (1989). Realistically, I'd say we can get them all done by about the start of summer! As long as I don't have to extend every round by like 2 months just to squeeze out 7 lists from people...
Unlimited (1982)
Tracklist: (Runtime about 29 min)
1. I'd Say You 2. Everything I'll Ever Own 3. What Do You Know About Heartache? 4. Out Of The Blue 5. Over, Under And Around 6. I'm Not That Lonely Yet 7. Whoever's Watchin' 8. Old Man River (I've Come To Talk Again) 9. You're The First Time I've Thought About Leaving 10. Can't Even Get The Blues
The Last One To Know (1987)
Tracklist: (Runtime about 34 min)
1. The Last One To Know 2. The Girl Who Has Everything 3. Just Across The Rio Grande 4. I Don't Want to Mention Any Names 5. Someone Else 6. What You Gonna Do About Me 7. I Don't Want To Be Alone 8. I will definitely do these. Both of these albums are special in their own right. With Unlimited, Reba started having #1 hits, Gold albums, and CMA Awards. The Last One To Know produced multiple Billboard #1s.

It has been WAY too long since I posted about this series, but I haven't forgotten about it!! Lists have finally started to trickle in, and I just got home a few days ago from seeing Reba in concert again, so it's about time to start officially moving forward with it. I will be finishing up February New Releases reveals, and then Terri Clark's next two albums that are about to close, and then it will be officially time to close these up and move on with them!
I feel like with all that in mind, it will be safe to set a final deadline for about a week and a half from now, on Sunday, April 16!!!
