Missed this unfortunately, can you tag me in the results? I wish I had known you were interested; I could have waited a little before I went ahead and made all the trajectory graphs and stuff last night :( I will definitely tag you in results, and I hope you will still consider participating in future albums :)

Oh wow, my random shot in the dark guess for last place was right! This felt kinda rough like it had the makings of being a great song, but was underdeveloped. The production for one lacked the punch I think it needed. It sounds to me like something that might've been better if she'd recorded it later in her career and gone harder with the production like the type of sound she did with some of her tempo tracks on Love Somebody, i.e.

They performed it like 5% faster, and really the band just JAMS out. I mean, the 2-minute piano solo intro is very cool, but from there the rest of the song has just so much more energy than the studio version :)

"Love Revival" was the obvious choice for last place on this album, imo. This album draws its strength from its ballads without a doubt, but of the couple of uptempos, "Love Revival" is the least remarkable. The melody is annoying, and the instrumentation gets old very fast. I am SO glad they kept this song the hell away from radio. "I'm Gonna Take That Mountain" is nowhere near my favorite Reba song, but it is definitely the best uptempo jam on this album, so if they had to lead with an uptempo single, I am so thankful they chose that one over this!
I don't hate this song by any means, but it just sounds so out of place on this album that otherwise is very cohesive and consistent. As you can see, a lot of people agreed with me, as it got a whopping EIGHT last-place ranks, and was in last place for the entire submission process!

You guys do not realize something, that I want you to realize. Sean literally sent me an album review instead of a rankdown list... So I think this could be kind of a fun thing for us to celebrate together! So I present to you, the first edition of Sean 's thoughts: 09. “Love Revival”: Great song, and I really enjoy the Gospel feeling to it (same how I felt with “Sky Full of Angels”), but it doesn’t necessarily wow me as some of the other songs do. I will admit that I love that she made her Love Revival album for Hallmark back in 2008 because that was a great collection of her songs and covers!!!

"Love Revival" is great! It's got a great swing to it and the melody is so infectious. It totally reminds me of something Trisha Yearwood would do. I could hear her singing this.

Seems like just yesterday You brought home ol’ what’s-his-name. He had been drinkin’. What were you thinkin’? After dinner he passed out. We can laugh about it now, ‘Cause we’ve learned a lot since then My sister, my friend.

Oh good. I knew "My Sister" wasn't well-liked, but there was a part of me that was worried this would overstay a bit in this simply because of the bias towards singles. This is an okay song, but pretty unmemorable imo and the fact that a single slot was wasted on this over such great album cuts that remained has always tainted it a bit for me as well. Meh.

Hint for #11: Cody Wants Out... fell into my trap! The chorus of "If I Had Any Sense Left At All" does mention picking up the phone and calling someone, but the hint was referring to the fact that "My Sister" is a song that theoretically takes place entirely over phone call, or multiple phone calls, between sisters! This is the first single from the album to leave us, and it is leaving about a half dozen spots before the general consensus seemed to think it would be leaving! Seeing this be the first single to leave is not a surprise at all, but seeing the extreme underperformance is a major shock to me! Singles NEVER do this poorly in album rankdowns! I guess that speaks to the overall quality of this album. This song was no slouch of a competitor itself, gathering 5 top 5 votes including multiple #3s. It settled in right in the bottom 3 however, looking like a lock for #10 until the very end when it barely got edged out by the song that had been behind it the entire time. I like "My Sister" well enough, but there is no question that this was the wrong single choice from this album! SO many incredible album tracks remain...

How about Round 2 of Sean's thoughts? 10. “My Sister”: Look, I really do like the song, but I was so upset it was released as a single (a theme you all will see throughout my list…) There were so many better choices, especially following up after the success of “Somebody”. It does have a really nice beat to it though. I still know every word and will bop along to it any time I hear it.

I had a really hard time figuring out what to put in last place between "Sky Full Of Angels" and "Love Revival"... In the end I find this song to be every bit as horribly mismatched for the album as LR is, and the two of them together are literally the only dark spots on this album for me... Which sucks because the album really doesn't have a whole lot of songs with energy, so I wish the songs that did were a bit better! I may disagree with "My Sister" as a single choice, but thank goodness it was that one over these two... SFOA was on pace to finish nicely in the bottom 2 alongside its similarly gospel-flavored counterpart, "Love Revival", but ultimately BlueShades874 ended up kicking "My Sister" in the shins and causing her to fall behind, allowing the "Sky Full Of Angels" to ascend ever so slightly into the top 10. Naos's #2 rank ended up sealing the deal, propelling this one high enough that "My Sister" had no chance of catching it in the single submission that was to follow.

Sean's Thoughts: 12. “Sky Full of Angels”: I feel bad picking this as my last song, because I do like the song. But for me it just never stood out for me. Back then, or now.

I haven't been myself from the minute that we met. I ran into your world and kinda walked out on myself. All those dreams I had, I began to second guess for you. One too many questions until I know the truth.

"Room To Breathe" is where the pain truly starts for most of us... This song had a whopping eight top 5 placements, 6 of which were actually top 4... This song stomped all over the previous songs, beating "Sky Full Of Angels" by a full 31 points, so it's clear that the consensus was pretty firm on the bottom 3! The battle between #8 and #9, however, was legendary. For the majority of the submission process they kept flipping back and forth.
In the end, RTB actually ended up TYING with the #8 song!!!! But #8 won the tie because it has multiple #2 placements, whereas #3 was the highest rank for RTB...

My thoughts on "Room To Breathe": This song has always been really ethereal and haunting to me. I have always loved the lyrics, but Reba's delivery of them is so full of heartache that you can totally hear the regret and anguish in her voice as she wrestles with the decision to take a break from a perfect love just because she is worried she might not be "ready". Such a decision could have major consequences, and that awareness is on full display in Reba's voice. I have always said that this woman is one of the strongest emoters in the business, and that ability is 100% apparent on this song! I am very sad that this song had to fall right here, already :'( It's way too soon. But then again, the song that it tied with at #8 is MY #2, so I am at least thrilled that my #2 was able to make it a position further...

Sean's Thoughts: 04. “Room To Breathe”: This song has always been a huge favorite of mine. The lyrics are so easy to feel like it’s a song about yourself. Like I said earlier, Sean in his early 20s was a very emotional person. But hey, that brought me to Pulse all those years ago! I’ve just always felt like this song was speaking to me back then. I love it. And I love Reba’s vocals on it so much. I wish the production was turned down just a little though.
