"Glad I Waited Just For You" bows out next, taking our 3rd single with it! This song is really catchy with the call-and-response background vocals in the verses, but ended up being polarizing for the same reason. It was always bound to finish in the top 5, but was never even close to being a top 2 contender!
This song leaving guarantees an album track finish in the top 2, and even leaves the door open for an all-album track top 2!!

"Why Can't He Be You" is a Patsy Cline cover that didn't do very hot in Patsy Cline's rankdown that we just completed. Umm, it only just barely missed the top 10 and was a top 10 contender for much of its run. So...not so much Really?! Lmao I take it back then! I remembered it being a bottom 5 contender for some reason

No use talkin’ when the shadows fall. Night bird’s callin’, and he says it all. Oh, you and me, baby, We could think of somethin’ to do.
It’s the right time of the night. The stars are wakin’ above. It’s the right time of the night For makin’ love.
3. "Right Time Of The Night"

I remembered it being a bottom 5 contender for some reason Pulse is not THAT tasteless, thank heavens I just love this song so much and I think both Patsy and Reba sing the hell out of it and wring out exactly the amount of emotion needed to make one feel it. Glad I wasn't alone with my #1 ranking and that it helped keep it afloat for much longer!

"Right Time Of The Night" is the one song I kept coming back around to revisit the most, so in turn I ended up putting it at the top of my list. I wasn't really sure how it'd do here, but a top 3 finish is much better than what I was expecting!

"Right Time Of The Night" kicks off our top 3! This song started out at #1 thanks to tim's #1 rank, but was never really a legitimate top 2 contender. This one was put in the top 6 by everybody except for 2 lone #9 ranks, which was enough to get it flip-flopping with "Glad I Waited Just For You" for the top 3. This song is nothing but a celebration of it being a perfect time to have sex, but hey, sometimes that's all you need!! It is catchy, and I really like the harmonies in this song. It is a really sneaky-catchy jam.

Yea, I just looked back and your #1 ranking for "Why Can't He Be You" is what helped give it the push it needed to get it back into the top 10 in Patsy's rankdown. Unfortunately the final two lists that came in is what sent it back out, but not by much as it was quite close. That said, I found myself quite disappointed with Reba's cover and didn't care for it much at all. Plus it was going to be really hard to match Patsy's version as I hold any song of hers in pretty high regard.

I'm sticking with my prediction in that "I Don't Want To Be A One Night Stand" will come out on top! And on that note, I predicted that "Angel In Your Arms" would be the least polarizing song so lets see if that holds true.
edit: well, one of those was correct!

When I first found out, I hurt all over. I felt so left out ’til I got to know her. So I tried the way that she got over, And I became just like her, So don’t be surprised to find
That the angel in your arms this mornin’ Is gonna be the devil in someone else’s arms tonight.
2. "Angel In Your Arms"
Track 3 Runtime: 2:51 Songwriters: Tommy Brasfield, Herbert Ivey & Terry Woodford
Now you ask me if I will go with you. Well, I’d like to, but I don’t know if it’s right. Are you lookin’ for someone to care for you, Or just someone to love you tonight?
1. "I Don't Want To Be A One Night Stand"
Track 4 Runtime: 2:59 Songwriters: Layng Martine Jr.
Placement in the Singles Rankdown: #88 out of 100

So, is it the right time of the night for making love as long as it's not a one-night stand kind of thing?

In the battle for the victory, the debut single was pretty much the runaway winner. "Angel In Your Arms" was no slouch itself though, managing to overtake the top for one position, but being a runaway top 2 contender for the entire rest of the submission process! I looooove the chorus melody of "Angel In Your Arms" so much. Those harmonies!! It is so catchy, and Reba sounds so great, and I was hoping so badly that it would do well here. I am not at all disappointed with this finish!!! I am so excited to see how it does both in RotB and the album tracks rd! That being said, there is just something about "I Don't Want To Be A One Night Stand" that makes it even better. I love the piano intro leading into a slightly faster chorus. It's such an iconic debut single, even though it flopped. I'm glad to see it join our group of rankdown winners!

Great finish! Much of her debut album is actually quite good, but I’m glad that my top 4 was the top 4.

1) What will be #1? "How Blue"2) What will be #10? Likely one of my faves lol3) Which songs will be in the top 5? Among them will be "How Blue," "Somebody Should Leave," "It's Not Over (Till I'm Over You)"4) What song will be most polarizing? "Don't You Believe Him" Least polarizing? "How Blue"5) Which of the singles will place highest? Where will it place? See answer to question #16) Which of the singles will place lowest? Where will it place? Well there were only two singles so if "How Blue" is gonna win, you have your answer 7) Which album tracks would you prefer to see do well? "Don't You Believe Him," "He's Only Everything," "It's Not Over (Till I'm Over You)"8) Any other thoughts/predictions? This is such a fantastic stone-cold country album, and I'm happy this is the album that really got things going for her. Who knows how much longer she'd have had still doing those boring-ass "Urban Cowboy" albums before the people and label got tired and moved on from her! Glad that isn't the case, 40 years later!.indulgecountry you're a notable absence in the participation list!!

That's what happens when you have a beau 1) What will be #1? I'm going to go with "How Blue", but something tells me it might be more of a narrower victory than we might be anticipating 2) What will be #10? "It's Not Over (If I'm Not Over You)" 3) Which songs will be in the top 5? "How Blue" and "Somebody Should Leave" in the top 2 followed by "Before I Met You", "You've Got Me (Right Where You Want Me)", and "That's What He Said" 4) What song will be most polarizing? "It's Not Over (If I'm Not Over You)" Least polarizing? "How Blue" 5) Which of the singles will place highest? Where will it place? Probably "How Blue" 6) Which of the singles will place lowest? Where will it place? Welp, there's only two singles so that leaves "Somebody Should Leave" in the top 2 7) Which album tracks would you prefer to see do well? "It's Not Over (If I'm Not Over You)" but I know that is wishful thinking 8) Any other thoughts/predictions? These early albums are just really hard to predict in general as I have no idea of what to expect

I’m gonna throw a video in here. Please tolerate the introduction. On Reba’s 1999 album, “So Good Together” there was an album cut “I’m Not Your Girl” However, the video below is in relation to her 1977 debut album, “Reba McEntire” which we are doing this rank-down for at the moment. Reba’s debut single “I Don’t Want to Be a One Night Stand” was released in 1976 which at the time singles were released on 45’s with the single on Side A another song usually a album cut on Side B. But for some reason perhaps because the album wasn’t finished yet in 1976 the 45 single “I Don’t Want to Be a One Night Stand” was on Side A and a song that didn’t make the album titled “I’m Not Your Kind of Girl” was on Side B very similar title to the 1999 song mentioned above. The video below is an audio recording of that song, “I’m Not Your Kind of Girl” left off the album but on the Side B of the “I Don’t Want to Be a One Night Stand” single I also found photos of both sides of the 45 to prove my point. youtu.be/b-uGBAEhjac

6) Which of the singles will place lowest? Where will it place? "Glad I Waited Just For You" but still within the top 5 Not even close!! "One To One" is officially our first single to leave us. someguy or RobbyFlorida, do you know what the deal is with the final single from this album? "One To One" is listed as the final single on Wikipedia.... But it was not included in the singles rankdown because when we did the singles rd the final single was listed on Wikipedia as "I've Waited All My Life For You".... "One To One" was nowhere in sight. And now "I've Waited" is the one that's nowhere in sight. I know ultimately it doesn't matter because the 4th single never charted either way, but my obsessive mind still wants to know the truth, lmao. Sorry I’m late to this. I only have 3 singles listed for her debut album. On other albums I still list the single if not charted. So if it was released I’d have it on there.

1) What will be #1? "How Blue", but I actually think that it will be quite close.
2) What will be #10? Maybe "He's Not Everything"? I'm really not sure.
3) Which songs will be in the top 5? The singles, plus "That's What He Said", "Everything But My Heart" and maybe "Before I Met You"
4) What song will be most polarizing? "It's Not Over (If I'm Not Over You)" Least polarizing? "How Blue"
5) Which of the singles will place highest? Where will it place? (How Blue, Somebody Should Leave)
6) Which of the singles will place lowest? Where will it place?
I think they will very easily (and very deservedly) be our runaway top 2. I'll guess "How Blue" will have the edge over "Somebody Should Leave", but I actually think it will be quite close.
7) Which album tracks would you prefer to see do well? "Everything But My Heart", "Before I Met You", "I Want To Hear It From You" and "That's What He Said".
8) Any other thoughts/predictions? Outside of the singles, which should rightfully dominate, I'm really not sure what to expect here. You can definitely tell that this is the album that she really took control of her career, especially when you listen to it right after its predecessor Just A Little Love. It's really strange how they came out the same year, since they sound so different in almost every way.

Leaving us first is the album closer, "You've Got Me (Right Where You Want Me)". This song was not always our last place contender; in fact it only got there for the last two lists. It started out as a moderately consistent top 5 contender thanks to all of its highest ranks coming with the first handful of lists I got. However, more than half of us had this in our bottom 2, and going up to nearly 2/3 of us if you count bottom 3s, so this song had very little hope of staying top 5 once the majority of the lists came in.
This is the type of '80s song that just always sounds to me like it plods... Every artist from the '80s had these songs every once in awhile. I do enjoy the way Reba wails out "I wanna be right where I am" at the end of the chorus, the way that only she could do! However, outside of that, the rest of the song I could take or leave.

Seeing a reveal with no lyrics just feels off-putting after being so used to seeing a snippet of them along with everything As with any Reba song, this ("You've Got Me") was GREAT! And that's because Reba doesn't have a bad song and doesn't even know what that is, lol. But sometimes a Reba song looks bad when you compare it to other Reba songs lmao, and this was an example of that. There's much better on this album, despite this song also being great. EDIT: STOP THE COUNT!!!! VOTER FRAUD!!! RECOUNT!!!! "He's Only Everything" has NO business being in the bottom two!!!!!

taylor continues the trend of losing his #2 very early on, lmao. "He's Only Everything" was our most frequent last place contender (thanks to the fact that, ironically, its three last place ranks came from the first few participants who also put "You've Got Me (Right Where You Want Me)" high on their lists). It then didn't pick up any more last places, while YGMRWYWM did, allowing it to gradually close the gap....before finally taylor 's #2 rank gave it the push it needed to jump ahead near the end! People probably feel similarly about this one to how they felt about our last reveal. I think both songs definitely plod a bit, but to me HOE (lmao ) dragged a little bit less. Glad it was able to sneak out of last at the end!

Lmao yeah, I usually do lyric snippets because I am already super familiar with the albums that I host, so I kinda have an idea of which lyrics to choose already... With these early Reba albums, I don't already know most of them, so I have to look up the lyrics and read them and pick the best ones, and listen to the exact moment in the song that they come from to make sure they are right (because OCD), and it all just takes sooooo much longer than it needs to... After struggling with it for the whole debut album, I decided I needed to streamline things, lol. Didn't think anybody would even notice, tbh!
