Maybe one of the artists you listed is straight up pop in sound. Just because someone doesn’t make bubblegum pop, doesn’t mean they aren’t a pop star. Plus I don’t see how it’s hard for white pop stars when Shawn Mendes has two songs in the top 10 right now, not to mention also “Sucker” and “IDC”. |

The release of her Capital One commercial followed shortly by the news of Capital One's gigantic privacy breach is a great allegory for this album campaign so far - timing is an issue.

I agree on Last Kiss. One of my faves from Speak Now. Great song.
As for the Announcement-My Guess is a GMA performance/Interview during "Lover" Release week. I don't see Taylor putting out a single the same weeks that Katy and Ariana are doing releases and Katy/Taylor are friends again, it would be a PR Disaster if that happened.

I never liked YNTCD more, even though I really like that one too, but I did think it had a better chance on the charts. Compared to Reputation singles, only Delicate is better. Compared to Reputation album tracks that’s a whole other story. |

ME! is such a carefree guilty-pleasure! Just not exactly what I wanted from her. If only we could replace that bridge.. |

"Me!" is still abysmal for me, but I stopped playing "You Need To Calm Down" a while back, so the replay value isn't there either (though I still find it the superior of the two). I am gonna be annoyed when we inevitably find much stronger single choices sitting on the album.
