Watch “Shame About That” win the next Revenge rankdown ⚰️ I can assure you I will do everything in power to make sure THAT does NOT happen. I love Sara to death but with that song at least she doesn't deserve it. I said what I said :kii:

The first top 5 casualty belongs to "I Don't Wanna See the Light," which remained neck-and-neck with the album's other non-single weeper ballad "Unopened" through the submission process as they fought over the possible distinction of being the top album cut of Three Chords and the Truth. Ultimately both lost out to "The Week the River Raged," however, which remains in along with the record's three hit singles. "Light" was also the final song standing without a #1 ranking, though a set of four #2 ranks depart here, plus four other top 5s. Ranks for this one were spread pretty evenly across the board, all the way down to being SHOOTER 's last place and a trio of additional bottom 3s. Also, a bit randomly, even though two of the album's actual promoted singles never received music videos, for some reason "Light" had one. That's an interesting tidbit and now I'm reaching far back into my memories to see if I remember ever seeing this video on CMT back then...and I'm almost certain that I did because whenever I hear this song I have to remind myself that it was not a single. This makes me wonder if they maybe intended to release it to radio but for whatever reason the label opted for a different song. I think this would've performed better than something like "Shame About That".

Hmmm, "Shame About That" only peaked a few spots lower than the title track and I don't think that "Light" would've made the top 40 where "Chords" failed to, so I disagree in thinking that it would've done better at radio, personally. I really couldn't imagine most of the songs on this record being viable single options outside of the title track tbh, so it seems appropriate it did the best, even though it deserved waaaaay better.

Oh yea I don’t actually think it would’ve peaked any higher than the title track or the other two singles for that matter, I was just more or less wishfully thinking out loud lol. I’m still racking my brain trying to remember if I ever saw the video back in the day but it’s been so long ago now I can’t say for sure.

The title track did deserve all it's #1's I'm very pleased to see it win, I knew my #1 was a long shot but it being the highest ranked album track is amazing! I will forever wonder how her sound would've evolved had this album been more of a success? I love it but then we probably wouldn't have got all the greatness she ended up serving us...so I guess I'll be happy with not knowing.

THIRTEEN #1 ranks!!! Is that an all-time record?? I figured this might've been coming so I'm not at all surprised or upset! Thanks for hosting .indulgecountry and I can't wait for the next one (there's more coming right?) I have stats on this 😉 I’ll let you know when I’m back on my computer! Edit: And yes, her two most iconic albums are left! Restless and Real Fine Place! Special Delivery for taylor! In terms of literal quantity of #1 ranks, this one is in a 3-way tie for 2nd place!
1st place: Taylor Swift's Speak Now album, where 14 people ranked "Enchanted" at #1 (Wow!) 2nd place: Taylor's Red album, Sara Evans' Born To Fly album, and now Sara Evans' Three Chords and the Truth album, all with 13 #1 ranks 3rd place: There are a whopping SEVEN rankdowns tied with 12 people ranking the #1 correctly. So clearly just tracking the amount of #1s is merely interesting, but it is not necessarily the most accurate way to see which rankdown had the most people get the winner right. So here are the rankdowns with the top percentages of people to rank the #1 correctly:
1. Pam Tillis: Put Yourself In My Place album (81% put "Maybe It Was Memphis" at #1) 2. Martina McBride: The Way That I Am album (80% put "Independence Day" at #1) 3. Reba McEntire: Keep On Loving You album/George Strait: #7 album/George Strait: Beyond The Blue Neon album (75%) 4. Patty Loveless: On Down The Line album (72.73% put "I'm That Kind Of Girl" at #1) 5. George Strait: Ocean Front Property album (69.23% put "Ocean Front Property" at #1) 6. Sara Evans: Three Chords And The Truth album (68.42% put "Three Chords And The Truth" at #1) Also, it appears this rankdown has set a new record for the largest gap between 1st and 2nd place!!!!
1. Sara Evans: Three Chords and the Truth album (29.66% difference between the title track and "Shame About That") 2. Faith Hill & Tim McGraw: The Rest Of Our Life (27.27% difference between "Break First" and "Cowboy Lullaby") 3. Kelsea Ballerini rankdown (25.95% difference between "Peter Pan" and "XO") 4. George Strait: Something Special album (25% difference between "The Chair" and "Haven't You Heard") 5. George Strait: Beyond The Blue Neon album (24.17% difference between "Baby's Gotten Good At Goodbye" and "Ace In The Hole") It's interesting to me that Kelsea has fallen down to third place here, because that HUGE victory of "Peter Pan" over the rest of her career is probably the first thing people think of when they think of the largest gap between a #1 and a #2! In terms of highest SCORING rankdown winners, this one averages out to a score of 15.79 out of 100, which is only the 40th highest finish for a country rankdown. #1 is still occupied by Martina's "Independence Day" winning the Gretchen Peters rankdown with an average score of 5.21 out of 100.

So wait, are the different color shades the different rankdowns eligible for a different BotB/RotB? Cause I notice the green shade is primarily songs that we just saw revealed for BotB III.

The yellow was the first BotB cycle, the blue was the second, the green was the third, and the red is everything that is already eligible for the 4th BotB ;)

Of course we'll end up with several rankdown winners that don't add to the song total, like Sara's "Born To Fly" because it has already been used in BotB before. But so far set IV has also been filled with more rankdowns than usual for people who don't normally win rankdowns, like Pam Tillis, Jake Owen, The Judds, Sam Hunt, etc. so the total seems to be adding up a bit faster than previous BotB cycles so far

Btw bboat11 hates me when doing rankdown stats because I'm the only country RD host that uses inverse points

Lol so I always have to like quadruple check my math. But yes, your methods are the biggest pain in the ass ;)

YAASSSSS, my favorite album of hers Literally everything about this record is pristine and perfect. I know that "Suds" and "Backseat" have both absolutely SLAYED in rankdowns up to this point, and will probably be the top 2, but I have gotta say I would LOVE to see an album track worm its way ahead, just for the sheer unpredictability of it! Several of my favorite album tracks of her career are on this album. And "Niagara" and "Rocking Horse" are especially both among the most-buzzed about album tracks of her career.

Submitted! I forgot how much I like this album. The album tracks are all a lot more solid than I remembered. There's only one clunker here, imo (and it was a single!).
