Yeah, I definitely wasn’t feeling the Ferngully vibes of Restless but FICO was fun!

YIKES!!!!! This rankdown just went downhill QUICKLY.
"I Feel It Coming On" is one I expected to be near the bottom. This song slays, but the thing is everything on this album slays, and this feels like one of the only songs on the album that just never gets buzzed about. I figured it would be most likely to get the most people ranking it low just because they couldn't rank it higher than most of the other songs, and it looks like I was right. (Like, having it in my own bottom 2 is downright laughable, because it's still an easy A for me, but that's just how incredible this album is...)
The title track tho... Wtf is this hate?!?!!? I had no idea this song wasn't liked!!! That Celtic pennywhistle driving the arrangement is really unique and gives this song a neat vibe! Not to mention the echoey resonance of Sara's vocals sounds so warm and smooth (my favorite aspect of this entire album, tbh, but it's especially noticeable on this song). Also one thing that is noteworthy about this song is that the most prominent note in the chorus is actually the lowest note in the entire song. (The sustained "restleeeeeesssssss" in the chorus is a G3) The verses are higher than the chorus. I can't really think of any other song by any other artist where the melody is structured that way!

I can't believe "Otis Redding" escaped the bottom 3.... "Big Cry" got tanked for being an odd song that doesn't fit the album. Yet "Otis Redding" is that same description on steroids!!

This rankdown is soooooo hard to watch. Every song holds a special place in my heart. Feel It Comin on was always a favorite of mine and I thought it would be the perfect song to start a concert. Love the instrumentation!
Restless was always a bit of a drag for me, BUT it gained soooo much more respect with me when I saw Sara perform it a few years back with the Oregon symphony. It was a wow moment! I also appreciate it more now as an adult with some life experience.
Big Cry is such an impressive song! I hate that it’s unliked for being “different”. That’s something I always loved about Sara’s albums, you can always count on her trying something different and including some new sounds on an album.
I don’t think any of these should have been vying for #1, but I hate to see them in the bottom. :(

Because of the unusual production of the title track “Restless” I certainly wasn’t setting my expectations high, but I am surprised to see it fall into the bottom 3. Outside of the singles this has always been of my favorite tracks of the album.
And while I quite enjoy “Feel It Comin’ On” the song itself just kind of gets lost in the shuffle amongst the rest of the album. I still didn’t think it would’ve settled down in the bottom 2, though.
“Otis Redding”, on the other hand, should’ve been out in the bottom 3 so that one can leave next.

Not here for the Otis Redding hatred. #BlackLivesMatter Love Otis Redding but the song and just the production in general stands out like a sore thumb on the album. That said, I know this song has always had a bit of support amongst her fans and even Sara’s team at the time was fully onboard with the song (despite Sara’s own reservations).

I've never thought "Otis Redding" sounded out of place on this album at all tbh. A lot of people used to always say "Suds" stood out on the record though, and yet it was the biggest hit from it, lol.

“Otis Redding”, on the other hand, should’ve been out in the bottom 3 so that one can leave next. Ask and ye shall receive... The song that tied with the title track turns out to be none other than "Otis Redding," which will make a few of you happy. It won the tie-breaker because with this reveal, we see our very first personal #1 rank fall, with the unlucky chap being gardyfan. A breezy, sultry bop, this summery tune finds Sara Evans singing about inviting a man over for some lovin', and the background sounds of soul singer Otis Redding filling her house as she awaits his arrival birthed the title. In addition to its lone #1 rank, it had two #2 ranks and a handful of other high ranks, but the overwhelming majority placing this one in their bottom four sunk this one's chances of making it any further. "Fireflies are out tonight Air is heavy and the moon is bright Otis Redding makes me feel good Dancin' in the kitchen barefoot"

LMAO. Maybe a top 5 contender on most artists' albums. But an easy last place on this mostly perfect album. Seriously, I do love this song. It's at least an 8.5 out of 10. I'd give it a solid B. But literally everything else on this album is an A or A+ for me

As I mentioned earlier, the songs in the middle of this rankdown (positions 6-11) were all clustered together in point values with a spread of only 15 points, and rounding out our bottom 5 is "I Give In," which rose above the last two revealed songs by only three points in the end. This is the first loss that truly saddens me in this rankdown, as I love this song and was gutted to see it struggle to get support up top. Alas, this sweeping power ballad -- that Sara Evans sings the fire out of -- with gorgeous use of the fiddle and lyrics that details the narrator's insecurities about love that are subdued when she and her partner dance together, bows out in the bottom half of Restless. No one quite loses a #1 here, but Troublemaker sees his second favorite track eliminated, and four other top 5s are dismissed as well. On the other end, four posters lose their last place ranking. "All right, I give in I will dance with you just this one time And all night We will turn and spin Then stand eye to eye at the sunrise And you offer love And it all begins when I say All right, I give in"

s**t on “I Give In” all you want, but “You turn more than the music on” is quite possibly my favorite lyric of Sara’s entire catalog

Lol

"Otis Redding" being this low is a travesty and you all need your ears checked. She has nothing else like this in her entire catalog and it is SO SO SO SO good! It stands out from her other songs in such a great way and she sounds SO good.
I agree with devin, that line is SO gross and I don't like "I Give In" at all. Hopefully its lights out for "Tonight" next.

I think "Otis Redding" might've been the only song that I didn't particularly care for, so good thing it's out relatively early. "Restless" being out this early is a crime though.
This album was really solid, so I even liked some of the songs I ranked lower on my list - reveals are only going to be more painful after this!

Also despite my comment, I would be shocked if "Tonight" lasts much longer. This feels like a pretty perfect time for it to leave, as it and "I Give In" have always been pretty equivalent in my mind.
Although I could see "Need To Be Next To You" succumbing to some unfortunate floppy ranks soon too...

Coming up next we have a reveal that might make some of you sad, but for others this reveal is way for you "To Be Happy"! Ba-dump-tiss. This jovial song paired perfectly with an infectious and standout harmonica-driven melody is one of the album's most uplifting numbers, as one might be able to ascertain from the title itself. This is our first reveal of the rankdown to not feature anyone's last place ranking, so there's something to be said for that that no one was grumpy enough to slot this one at #13, lol. It did ultimately get its fair share of lower ranks however, including a trio of bottom 2 placements that help sunk it to just below the midway point in reveals. Kanenrá:ke shares the biggest lost here with his #2 out, though it only got two other top 5s. "Yeah we fuss and we fight We can't see the light We wake up and decide We don't need to be right To be happy"

I just don't get how anybody could dislike this song. The energy level and overall vibe of this song is SO jubilant and infectious This has always been a major standout for me, and it is one of the many songs on this album that I think could have been a smash hit had it been released to radio. My #8 rank for it just speaks to how highly I think of this album as a whole.

I've also always felt like this would have been an incredible addition to Sara's live shows. She has no shortage of upbeat songs to call on, but this one has always felt like it would be especially effective in a live setting.

I think my 7-9 range (I think my #9 is the cutoff most likely) is where my opinions of the song go from "I sort of like it" to "I like it" - I liked "To Be Happy" but I just couldn't put it any higher.
