It was definitely bold of Pam to try to cover a Martina song, but unfortunately "A Great Disguise" just doesn't even come close to Martina's version. Martina's has a real elegant, smooth feel to it. The arrangement, production, lyrics, and vocals all come together perfectly in her version to make the song sound like a timeless classic. Pam's slight changes to the melody, less memorable instrumentation, and cheaper production make it sound like a song that has not reached its full potential. Pam's version actually sounds older than Martina's to me, despite the fact that Martina's is several years older.
Edit: The fact that Martina's was the highest album track from Wild Angels, and managed to finish at #6 in her 60-song full-career album track rankdown, while Pam's looks like it won't even make her album track rankdown, says that y'all pretty much agree with me! Lol

with Kanenrá:ke losing his #1 that leaves myself, someguy, tim, bboat11, and austin as the only people with their #1's left. That is 5 #1's to be spread among 3 songs. Who will lose theirs next? Also you will notice that "A Whisper and A Scream" and "Hurt Myself" both tied with 57 points, Kanenrá:ke's #1 rank helped "A Whisper and A Scream" break the tie! #9 had 59 points, #'s 8-6 had 58 points, and #'s 5 and 4 had 57 points. Only 3 points between #9 and #4! Up next at #3 a song with #54 points, so not all that removed from those 6 songs! |

I'm thinking "We Must Be Thinking Alike" will go next, with the two singles in the top 2. Rooting for "Every Time", but it'll probably be "I Said A Prayer" just because it was the bigger hit!

Well that's unfortunate  Honestly, "Every Time" took a bit to grow on me, so I'm not too surprised by this. It seemed a little boring at first, but this song has the most EPIC build of any song on this album, and really features a fantastic vocal performance from Pam! It also has the added benefit of being one of the few songs on the album that doesn't sound like it was produced by the same intern as Jo Dee's Christmas album |

"We Must Be Thinking Alike" is one I forgot about, but seeing it is my #3 was a nice shock, so I am listening to it again now... Yeah, this is a deserving #2 finisher!! Definitely one of the best on the album!! The melody is awesome!! "I Said A Prayer" is a catchy song, and very obvious yet fitting winner, as well as fitting lead single. This one definitely spent some time at #1 on my list, but fell back to my #2 as "Every Time" continued to grow on me with subsequent listens. Thanks for hosting castleoblivion26!! |

My prediction for this one is that it is about time for us to get an album track winner for Pam!!!!! "Please" may have been the only real "hit" of the album, but it is NOT the best song here. I guess the title track was technically a single too, and that would be an okay winner. But hoping for an album track like "Jagged Hearts", "If I Didn't Love You", etc. There's some really solid yet underrated songs on this album!

The right song out first! "Be a Man" was the only bad one on this record.
ETA: I liked "Waiting on the Wind" but I knew it would be out early because of Mel. He does sound a little rough here. That said, I love the melody and Pam's vocals were a highlight.

Gonna stop there tonight since other reveals are happening but I will get us to the top 5 tomorrow and reveal the final 5 on Wednesday night!
Not upset to see "Be A Man" out first, I don't mind the song but its kinda just there.
Now "Waiting On The Wind" is a different situation altogether. I had this in my Top 3 because there is just something about the song that just works so well with her singing with her father. I love everything about this song and am sad to see it in the bottom 2, it DOES NOT belong there imo
