THANK GOODNESS!!!!!! I like "Mi Vida Loca", but tbh it has never fully resonated with me. For starters, the production sounds a little dated and demo-y next to everything else she put out in this time period. But more importantly, there is a pretty much unforgivable grammatical error in this song that makes me cringe so hard. The part where she's like "There in the firelight I see your tattoo", and then the background singers are like "Mi vida locoooooo." Like, what the fuck?! First of all, the correct noun/adjective match in this expression is "Mi vida loc a." The "a" is at the end of "loca" because it matches with "vida". That's how Spanish works. And even if you ignore the rules of Spanish, "Mi Vida Loca" is literally the title of the song! And they use it for the entire song, as they should! So why change it in that one individual instance? Of course, it could make sense if they changed it to fit some kind of rhyme scheme. But the last phrase Pam sings ends with "tattoo." Loco does NOT match tattoo any more than loca would! So again, why change it?? Other than those issues, it is a pretty good song. Catchy melody. But it is absolutely TRAGIC that this is the only #1 hit of her entire career... "Maybe It Was Memphis", "Spilled Perfume", "Don't Tell Me What To Do", "One Of Those Things", "When You Walk In The Room", etc. all should have been every bit as huge on the charts, because they have certainly done more for her career!

"In Between Dances" just feels like such a Pam classic, but tbh I always kinda consider this one and "Let That Pony Run" to be practically the same song. I love them both, but they pretty much occupy the same niche in my mind.
I am really happy that this one was able to make the top 3, because it placed exactly where it belongs imo. It is not quite up to the standard of SP/WYWITR, but it is vastly superior to MVL and IWBA. Right in the middle of the singles from this album is exactly where I wanted it to be, but I kinda thought it might be outlasted by MVL just because that one was such a huge hit.

Rooting for SPILLED PERFUME!!!!!!!!!! Especially because it seems to be her one song that has done the best in a year-end rankdown so far (other than "Memphis"). Although tbh both of these are among her best of all time, and both deserve to win... Will not be disappointed either way!!

YES! Love both songs, but "Spilled Perfume" is just as iconic as "Memphis" imo! Glad to see that it won!! On top of that, my Top 2 gave me 2 perfect rankings

with that the Sweetheart's Dance rankdown is done! I will not be able to begin the results for All Of This Love until Tuesday as I'm going to my boyfriends for the weekend and will not be able to post much, if at all.
Super happy with the top 4 as I love all 4 the most. I do love "Mi Vida Loca" a little more than "In Between Dances" but it is VERY close for me, I struggled with which one to put at #4 and #3. "Spilled Perfume" and "When You Walk In The Room" are incredible!
thanks for participating and following along. Be back next week for the next album!

looks like I finished mine first lol. Though you do put a lot more into each with your opinions and information in between each reveal whereas I haven't been doing that. I really should do that more going forward

Yes, yes, YES!!!!!! "When You Walk In The Room" is one of Pam's catchiest songs. That melody gets into your head and tbh is impossible to get rid of once it's there. Not to mention it is one of Pam's best vocals on record. Also, I have shared this story before, but a couple years ago I dreamed that I randomly walked into a bar and George Strait was in there performing, and he was singing this song. WHY I have no idea, but I was so excited that I woke myself up before he got to the falsetto at the end :( Would have loved to hear the whole song!! Lmao! Now, as much as I love WYWITR, "Spilled Perfume" is THAT bitch. The melody to the verses of this one is so beautiful, while the clunky disjointed chorus melody adds a flair of dramatic irony that hooks you in even more imo. Not to mention that Pam does THAT one the bridge!!! You know what I'm talking about... That IMMACULATE E5 on "What's done IIISSSS done!" Her power, her control, her ability to emote, it is all 100% on point with this song. If I had to point out Pam's best artistic moment, this would definitely be the song that I point to. Thanks for hosting, castleoblivion26!!!! This was her best album yet, and I am SO happy with how the top half went

I was really hoping that "When You Walk In the Room" might be able to sneak past "Spilled Perfume" for the win, but nonetheless that was a great top two finish!! At the time of its release "Mi Vida Loca (My Crazy Life)" was the biggest hit of the album and I remember it receiving a ton of airplay that year. As time has passed, however, it seems to have gone on to become a bit more of a polarizing song so I wasn't surprised to see it be left out of the top three. I was quite disappointed to see "'Till All the Lonely's Gone" out first...this one is such a toe-tapping-two-stepping jam! Y'all who put this in your bottom two should be ashamed of yourselves!! With Sweetheart's Dance Pam Tillis really was at the height of her career and this was of course the era that she would go on to win the CMA Female Vocalist of the Year. I have a lot of fond memories listening to this album so it was such a pleasure getting to revisit it since I hadn't listened to it in years...thanks again castleoblivion26 and we're looking forward to the next one!

None of these albums are starting off on the right foot! "You Can't Have a Good Time Without Me" has such a throwback feel with the steel guitar that just makes me want to swing, but maybe I shouldn't be too surprised that some of you just can't find the joy in this tune.

You were the 2nd highest rank and you *only* put it at #7 so you can't be too outraged. RIP to someguy tho.

On an album this strong why was “Betty’s Got a Bass Boat” of all songs released as a single?! Not at all surprised that this was out in the bottom two.

I've tried to get into "You Can't Have A Good Time Without Me", but tbh the more I hear from Pam this is quite possibly my least favorite song of her entire career... I like a good western swing, and I also had a lot of fun playing in jazz bands in high school and college, but for some reason these types of jazzy swings mixed with country pretty much always just rub me the wrong way. And as much as I loved playing in jazz bands, vocal jazz always sounds literally awful to me, and that is basically all this song is. The melody is repetitive, and Pam's vocal performance feels much too soft for the conviction that would have been necessary to sell this song. She's softly lilting around through this sassy melody while delivering absolutely no sass or personality whatsoever, and the whole thing just fails to be remotely noteworthy.
"Betty's Got A Bass Boat" is much stronger in the personality department... I find Pam's vocal to be a bit off in a couple places, like when she practically whispers the high notes in "since she got a new camper" when she would ultimately sound better belting them with gusto, but ultimately this song is pretty well-performed for the most part. I just wish it wasn't a single, because there are absolutely better moments on this strong album. The lyrics are just too cheesy for it to feel like anything but a novelty song. Definitely not what Pam needed for her radio career at this point.

While I don’t think praising “You Can't Have a Good Time Without Me” is the same as coming across as being outraged that it exited so soon, I will say that I do think the song does seem a bit out of place on this album. Nonetheless, I still quite enjoy it and my ranking is just reflective of the fact of how great this record is overall.

It was just funny to see the rankdown wasn't starting off on the right foot because with the exception of someguy, literally everyone tanked it so... lol. "Bass Boat" is okay, but yeah, it wasn't a good single choice. Not surprised it was a flop, although its peak relative to all of her other stuff during her prime is pretty hilarious.

My #10 hasn't showed up yet, but all my other low ranks are going out at least. This whole album was really solid overall so I'm expecting reveals are gonna start hurting me more soon.
