55. My Friends - Red Hot Chili PeppersI like this song. Always did. It felt like they wanted to score something in between "Under The Bridge" and "Scar Tissue" I commend them for trying. 54. Vanishing Cream - The HungerA first time listen that just kept climbing up my list. Even cracked my top 50. The elektroids actually gave it a slight Psychedelic vibe. 53. Santa Monica (Watch the World Die) - EverclearI didn't even know this song was for underprivledge kids and what not. I'm not inn that category. I just love the guitar licks , and Everclear in general. . I still love this song, but It fell considerably lower on my list as a sacrifice for the harder 80's metal stars. I do this on ACTIVE ROCK rank downs because that my true Rock force. 52. 6th Avenue Heartache - The WallflowersThis song is sooooooo Rolling Stones vibe. I could never rank it under Top 15. This was a big #1 song on my personal charts back in the day. 51. See You on the Other Side - Ozzy OsbourneNice to see Ozzy almost make it to the upper half side of this list. I'm just REALLLLLLLLLY glad the fiercer song is still kicking. 50. Counting Blue Cars - DishwallaDecent song. I'm just glad it didn't show up any higher. #1 for Active year. LOL! What was the rock world thinking? 49. Away - ToadiesThis song is passable. It also makes sense I'm its lowest ranker. 48. Big Bang Baby - Stone Temple PilotsI have a feeling you guys are listening to some club remix, because i just don't F U C K I N G get these lame rankings for this stellar song. 8D 47. Hail, Hail - Pearl JamThis song over any STP song is just wrong. 46. Glycerine - BushWonderful song. The lyrics flow nicely if you feel the need to sing along. It also mentions my favorite Beatle's song. "Strawberry Fields" eh At least its higher than that P.J. song. 45. Until It Sleeps - MetallicaI like this one. I might actually put another Metallica song in the top 10 once we roll around to "Enter Sandman"44. Flood - Jars of ClayThis one sounded kinda dull among this list of songs. Makes sense I'm the lowest ranker...again. 43. What Do I Have to Do? - Stabbing WestwardWho is this band, and why do you guys like them. They sounds pretty dull. I need more of my bottom 10 to show up. 42. Lie on Lie - Chalk FarMThis is alright for a listen. I was expecting something way more uptempo based on the MV's thumbnail. 41. Free - PhishFist time listen. ugly song. Lowest ranker makes sense. and Live Nirvava makes the top 40. oh brother....you know there will be better Nirvana songs to put in the top 40 as the years get smaller. You know like songs where he actually had some studio help to make his vocals sound half way decent.

EXTRAS:
...and now for another of my alternative titles to this stupid song. "Smashing phone booths with my bare hands to break in and steel the coins" - Primitive Radio Gods Thank goodness this travesty didn't make the YE end list. I would have put this at #99. One shy of the worst song on this list...and it isn't even Live Nirvana. Heartspark Dollarsign - EverclearNot sounds as good on Active Rock songs it does among Alternative Rock songs, but I still give it top 40. Fear of Falling - The BadleesNot too bad. but it feels more like "Fear of Singing' His vocals are not too good to me. (You're) My World - Joe SatrianiJoe gets some respect from me, but he has much better material out there. Hands in the Air - Bob Seger & the Silver Bullet BandThis is pretty bad ass. Good guitar vibe. Day Job - Gin BlossomsIf it is Gin Blossoms I'll take it. Another band who played really loud. Between Heaven and Hell - Zakk WyldeNot bad. It has its moments. less vocals and more harmonica would help.. Walking Contradiction - Green DayI don't know about you guys but I get a cool relaxing feeling when I listen to Green Day. I love this band. Time - Hootie & the BlowfishThis one was a bunch of Hoot air. One of Us - Joan OsborneI don't know how high I would have put this on Active rock. The guitars are nice and loud and she delivers her vocals with conviction so maybe top 50? * BTW all these chicks now a days with nose rings. It looks hot, but there you go... Joan Osbourne was years ahead on that concept.

Boy I shot up that actual year end list. :o It be a hoot I came in first place in Actual list and last in PULSE closeness. It would also make sense tho. BTW lets get my #100 out pronto. Its not that Live Nirvana song either.

Normally, I'd be throwing things at the screen Edition: 55. My Friends (40)---I kinda felt that Aeroplane would not make top half (they were pretty far back in Alternative), but this? Hmm. Maybe I should worry for Give It Away Now? 54. Vanishing Cream (77)---Much like Angry Johnny over on the Alt side, this was a song that tried too hard to be clever for its own good. Luckily, the rock part of the equation still worked well enough. 53. Santa Monica (54)---Grew up in a lower mid-class household with one parent and I'm still regretting this didn't leave one spot sooner. What does that say about me? 52. 6th Avenue Heartbreak (20)---Yeah, this is as good as it got for John Wallflower and company outside of One Headlight. They had such promise in the beginning... 51. See You on the Other Side (38)---Color me shocked. I thought Perry Mason would have reached his last verdict about 10-15 spots before now. This was the better of the two Ozzy songs. 50. Blue Car Survey (67)---I knew this was on its way based on the Alternative rankdown. The lyrics are a bit too random for me. 49. Away (29)---Am I the only one to think the lead singer of the Toadies looks a bit like Chester? This was a nice discovery and I suspect Possum Kingdom will do well for me. 48. Big Bang Baby (16)---Stone Temple Pilots are like Red Hot Chili Peppers in that I struggle to find a bad song from either one. 47. Hail, Hail (47)---Perfect 2x for the best of the Pearl Jam songs of 1996. But once again, you picked the second best one to prevail. 46. Glycerine (33)---Bush had a pretty good year, right? Its biggest crime was that it didn't rock hard enough. 45. Until It Sleeps (31)---As a couple of people here had said, Load and Reload aren't half bad albums with some good stuff. The right song did prevail, although someone should explain why they tried to rip off Losing My Religion in the video? 44. Flood (18)---Shocked, shocked! Interestingly enough, I thought this would do worse here so I was prepared to boost it. Who knows, I could have knocked Perry Mason or Folk Implosion out of the top 40? 43. What Do I Have to Do? (78)---Once again, the right Stabbing Westward song advances. The electronic influences didn't mesh well with the rock here. 42. Lie on Lie (74)---Not much to say on the next couple of singles other than they were decent, I guess. Nothing really got me to move either song into a better bracket. 41. Free (70)---See 42. Extras: Phone Booth would have missed top 10 in Active. It might have made my top 20. One of Us probably would have knocked Garden of Allah to my #6. So yeah, it's a top 5. You'd probably have placed it somewhere in the 70s, though. Recap: Still have 9 top 10s left (lost a couple of top 20s) and only 1 bottom 10. Oh, and I'm down to only 9 songs in my bottom 40.

A decent choice for new best performance for the Crows.
I'm excited to see how the August songs fare. That album still holds up pretty well.
