I was expecting The Brazilian Guy 🇧🇷 to say that. I was hoping Brand New Man would have been bigger than what it was. After all, the format's hottest star was singing that one with the legendary duo.

The others add nothing new to those songs, you could cut and paste any of the men on country radio at the moment and it would all sound the same. It’s a credit to Brooks and Dunn to have allowed Kacey to do what she did with the song!

Amazing: Neon Moon w/ Kacey
Great: Hard Working Man w/ Bros Osborne, Next Broken Heart w/ Pardi
Everything else is average at best
Also: I’m furious at Brooks and Dunn for leaving Randy Houser off of this. Imagine Randy on “Believe”. WHAT A MISSED OPPORTUNITY

I would’ve thought that Carrie Underwood would’ve been chosen for “Neon Moon” after watching this several years ago on TV. youtu.be/RrEySc4XOmA

Agree that the "Neon Moon" cover kicks ass. Also love the "Brand New Man", "Hard Workin' Man", "Lost and Found", and "You're Gonna Miss Me..." covers.
I literally couldn't tell that was Midland on "Boot Scootin' Boogie". Mark Wystarch's vocals sound WAY different than usual on that.
LANCO left no musical identity on "Mama Don't Get..." in my opinion, and Kix's oversinging is atrocious. Reminds me of the phony "chummy" accent he sometimes uses on ACC.
"Believe" is my least-favorite B&D single, and Kane Brown tends to sound like a wet fart, but he's surprisingly tolerable on that one.
That "Ain't Nothing 'bout You" with Brett Young is HORRIBLE. That's my favorite B&D song because of how big and anthemic it is, and how it signaled their comeback. But this version is limp, lifeless, bland, and boring. And why did he change so many of the damn words?!

The “Neon Moon” reboot is terrific, in agreement with everyone.
But yikes, the “Ain’t Nothing ‘Bout You” reboot is atrocious. No remake/rendition has to be a carbon copy of the original but that’s has such a different tempo than the original but with no spark. Ronnie sounds uninterested. I’m amazed how much I don’t like it because I love the original.

Well, it sure was nice of Brett Young to absolutely RUIN one of B&D's best songs... This new version has no redeeming qualities whatsoever! First of all, the incredibly stupid lyrical changes... Changing the song to be about "her" rather than "you" makes the song so much less personal. The entire thing is now just a song about objectifying a woman who isn't even there, as compared to telling your partner how you feel about her and sharing a romantic moment.
And then there's the way his voice sounds... I honestly am liking Brett's voice less with every song I hear from him. I didn't dislike it at first, and it is still great with the right song (aka "Mercy"), but Brett just can't get away with singing whatever he wants. He saps 100% of the energy out of this song, just by opening his mouth. Of course Ronnie sounds disengaged as well, and that is obviously because this entire version is so stylistically maligned with the way the song was ever intended to sound... It now sounds identical to every other Brett Young song, in both production and tempo, and has lost every bit of the charm and urgency that the original offered. Strip away the iconic wall of electric guitars interjected by screaming steel guitar, reduce the tempo to about 85% of the original speed, change the perspective of the lyrics, and replace Ronnie with a much lesser vocalist, and you are left with this mess...

It's funny everyone hates the "Ain't Nothin' 'bout You" cover because I think that's one of the strongest on the album. I love Brett Young's voice so much though and I like how he turned it into a soulful ballad and pulled it off, imo. "Red Dirt Road" being slowed down so much tempo-wise, on the other hand, was an example of a switch that I didn't think worked. That one has such an outstanding melody and is one of my favorite B&D songs in its original form, and the version with Cody Johnson doesn't work too well for me, despite great vocals.
I agree with others that the "Neon Moon" cover is unsurprisingly sublime. Kacey sounds downright ethereal on it. Goosebumps. Ashley McBryde also completely slayed on "You're Gonna Miss Me When I'm Gone," which I also expected as much since her voice is incredible. It's a shame they couldn't have snuck another female artist or two onto the record, but the two contributions they did land here were flawless.
For the most part, I think Reboot is pretty solid. I'd probably give it like a solid B rating upon first listen. I dig it more than I expected after being underwhelmed by a few of the preview tracks that came out that were just average to me.

i know they were going for lets get all the new popular stars together kinda thing. but i wish they would have gotten a few of the older stars on here.
George Strait killed it with his version of Boot Scootin' Boogie. should have gotten him to duet that one. and midland on something else. tho i do like their version.
and for Neon Moon. should have gotten Erin Enderlin on it.would have been miles better than Kacey's. but im just sayin'.
here's my rankings of this album
songs i do like alot 1. Boot Scootin' Boogie - Midland - love these guys and almost everything they released so far 2. Red Dirt Road - Cody Johnson - good ol cojo love how its just a simplified version here stripped down goodness 3. My Next Broken Heart - Jon Pardi - my favorite B&D song and Jon nailed it 4. Your Gonna Miss Me - Ashley McBryde - Perfect Fit for Ashley 5. Hard Workin Man - Brothers Osborne - The Brothers Came Through what else can i say 6. Lost And Found - Tyler Booth - Im a fan of Tyler loved his debut EP can't wait for more from him
songs that are ok 7. Neon Moon - Kacey Musgraves - too pop sounding for me just like her latest album 8. Believe - Kane Brown - not a fan of Kane but his voice is perfect for this song
tracks i just don't like 9. Brand New Man - Luke Combs - luke is so loud on this it sounds like he's screaming i can't get into it 10. My Maria - Thomas Rhett - nope just no plus i never cared much for this song anyway 11. Mama Don't Get Dressed Up For Nothin' - Lanco - lanco sucks i hate them enough said 12. Ain't Nothin' Bout Her - Brett Young - what in the hell what he thinking with the changes made the song horrible

so I have listened to this album in full and I am overall disappointed. There are a few stellar tracks and way too many that just come nowhere close to the originals.
My ranking: 1 - "Neon Moon" - Kacey Musgraves owned this song! Regardless of whether her production is all that country or not it is a phenomenal performance and beats everything else on this easily. 2 - "Your Gonna Miss Me" - I really liked this version and Ashley sounded great 3 - "Believe" - I actually think the way Ronnie and Kane's voices blended might have been the best pairing on this. Also the production on this was really good. 4 - "Lost and Found" - this is one of my favorite B&D songs and I really liked Tyler Booth's voice. Who is he? cause I've never heard of him before. 5 - "Hard Working Man" - love Brothers Osborne and this just worked so well. Definitely near the top for me 6 - "Brand New Man" - so Luke Combs sounds good, as does Ronnie but the production is way overproduced, still in the top half though, but barely 7 - "My Maria" - have never been a huge fan of this song but I do like the production well enough and Thomas sounds good on it as well but still just meh 8 - "Red Dirt Road" - good production puts this one higher than I would normally place this song 9 - "My Next Broken Heart" - I'm not crazy with the way Jon Pardi sounds on this song and so it ruins my enjoyment of the song 10 - "Mama Don't Get Dressed Up For Nothin'" - I have always loved this song but Lanco sucks, they sounded terrible and Kix sounded terrible. How is this not the worst song on this album! 11 - "Boot Scootin' Boogie" - this was horrible. Midland continues to be a joke in my eyes. Really don't like this at all 12 - "Ain't Nothin' To See Here" - WTH were they thinking with this. There is absolutely nothing good here, please can we forget this ever happened.

She covered it for the tribute special way way back (2008?) and did a great job on it.

Why does Midland sound so un-Midland-like on "Boot Scootin' Boogie"? Mark sounds NOTHING like he does on, say, "Burn Out".

I must be the only one who thinks the kacey neon moon version Is just meh. Wish Brooks & Dunn would have had Carrie do it. Remember...the televised B&D farewell special from about 10 yrs ago carrie sang neon moon and it was excellent. Much prefer her version.
The reboot album overall i am enjoying though.

My simple ranking to these songs...
The featured artist owned the song: You're Gonna Miss Me When I'm Gone (with Ashley McBryde) Hard Workin' Man (with Brothers Osborne) Believe (with Kane Brown)
Okay switch-up for a remake album like this: Red Dirt Road (with Cody Johnson) Neon Moon (with Kacey Musgraves)
Decent enough: Boot Scootin' Boogie (with Midland) My Maria (with Thomas Rhett) Lost and Found (with Tyler Booth)
Ruined by production: My Next Broken Heart (with Jon Pardi) Mama Don't Get Dressed Up For Nothing (with LANCO) Brand New Man (with Luke Combs)
Should've been another female artist feature instead: Ain't Nothing 'Bout You (with Brett Young)

Production wise the performance was very reminiscent for me. Not sure if the album track sounds different.

These are some good and interesting collaborations. Initially, "Brand New Man", "Neon Moon" and "My Maria" are my favourite remakes. I'm glad that B&D are doing this, as their work with newer artists is giving them some exposure and recognition from newer country fans who otherwise might not be familiar with them.
