An example of an artist with more than 1 Signature song is Michael Jackson, you can say that either Thriller or Billie Jean are his Signature songs. Can you name another artist with more than 1 Signature song?

Katy Perry - I'd say it's between Firework and Dark Horse Lady Gaga - Many would say Bad Romance is her signature, but Poker Face is right up there with it Rihanna - Umbrella vs We Found Love?
Taylor Swift is another one that would be difficult since she has signature hits from her country days and other ones during her pop star years.
I've seen people mention Britney and Kelly, but I'd disagree that they have more than one signature hit. Britney's is obviously Baby One More Time, while Kelly's is Since U Been Gone.
Ariana is too new for me to judge right now since her biggest chart hits are only months old. We'll have to see how they hold up over time.

^ Katy is def great example for this thread. It really depends where are you from. In Australia, Roar is the best selling female song of all time, it's the most watched female video on YouTube and this song is still popular in some parts of Asia and South America. Dark Horse is her biggest hit in the US, I Kissed A Girl and Hot N Cold were HUGE in Europe, both on multiple decade-end charts there. California Gurls was the biggest hit in Canada in 2010 and Firework is probably her most awarded song and not to mention 4th of July and New Year. If I had to choose, I'd go with Roar / Firework is really close. Time will tell. For Ariana is still early to tell, but Problem is not that song. Like it or not, Mariah's signature hit is AIWFCIY and Whitney's signature is IWALY. Other examples: David Guetta, Justin Bieber, Alicia Keys, Beyonce, Nelly Furtado, Justin Timberlake, Maroon 5... In some way, I think Adele and Ed Sheeran have more than one sign.

There's a difference in an artist having more than 1 hit and having more than 1 signature song. For instance, "I Will Always Love You" is without a doubt Whitney's signature song. That doesn't mean she doesn't have other memorable hits, but "IWALY" is easily her signature hit.

The Greatest Love Of All and I Wanna Dance With Somebody say hello. That's nice of them. I don't know what that has to do with anything, though. A signature song is not always an artists biggest hit, take Billy Joel for example, his signature hit is Piano Man but it only peaked at #25 on the Hot 100.

I think we all know that, but I am still not getting what you all mean. Are you all saying "TGLOA" is more known than "IWALY?"

Imo, if an artist has more than one signature song, they don't have a signature song.. You can have an iconic and varied discography with or without a signature song.
Katy Perry's a great example of this: there just isn't that one song that everyone immediately associates with her, mostly because her career peak wasn't that long ago.
Feel free to disagree; I haven't thought through this argument all that much.

I agree they are known - "IWTDWS" more than "TGLOA" - but if you ask 100 people to name a Whitney Houston song, I feel like 70-80 are going to say "IWALY." That to me is what makes a signature song. It doesn't mean other songs are unknown or inferior, it just means one song in particular stands out for that artist.

The word "signature" as with everything else is subject to opinion and really doesn't have a statistically measurable definition
BTW - I checked the almighty wikipedia. Although whoever wrote that acknowledges that it is possible for an artist to have two signature songs, they couldn't name one

She was always my num.2 favorite. I do have to agree though that the general public probably does now consider "IWALY" as her signature song. I used to think "The Greatest Love Of All" as well but "IWALY" has won out in the end.

I'd argue Savage Garden somewhat. I feel like "Truly Madly Deeply" and "I Knew I Loved You" battle it out for most popular, but at the same time I hear a lot of people raving about "To The Moon And Back" nowadays. I'd say they definitely have more than 1 signature song at this point.

I'd say Mariah, Drake, and Katy Perry. Also I kind of agree with Savage Garden, they have a lot of songs that people seem to enjoy.

It is still played on radio here like it is a current top ten hit. There's more factors to a signature song other than recurrent radio play. I hear Rihanna's Stay on radio constantly but that is far from being her signature hit. As per my opinion, BOMT is the defining song of Britney's career. The music video is iconic and easily her most recognizable, if you ask any random person on the street to name a Britney song, more times than not, you're gonna get BOMT. I'm not discounting Toxic's success and legacy, but BOMT is the song most synonymous with Britney imo.
