That Oscar nom was right there for the taking. How did she manage to screw that up.

That Oscar nom was right there for the taking. How did she manage to screw that up. It is quite alarming. She was getting noms all season long. I read an LA Times article last night and they predicted she would be a shoo-in. Hell she had Disney backing! I wonder what happened? Maybe they haven’t forgotten the “Listen” fiasco.

We're really gonna sit here and blame her for what other people chose to vote for? Hell, a moderate majority of people in this thread shat on Spirit/The Gift from day 1. Don't clutch pearls that the biggest award show of them all apparently agreed.

She literally phoned in “Spirit”, slapped her name on the credits, and had Disney campaign for her. What likely did her in was Disney withdrawing the consideration for the movie.

Who cares? Even she isn't worried about an Oscar, why should we be?
All I care about is new material.

That's even more reason not to blame her or be alarmed though since Disnewy withdrawing the movie from consideration would be out of her control. Bey herself probably didn't put in an ounce of energy to campaign for anything but that's been her m.o. for at least five years now. I'm gonna lmao if the next thing she puts out is still not some boppy anthem. She really don't gaf these days.

The Gift documentary, a big budget video, instagram posts, and she attended the Golden Globes.

I don't get why some people hate Beyoncé so much. She is a lovely and kind woman who is extremely talented and doing her thing. Looking forward to B7.

^More like I think most people just don't like how the stans, celebs and media 'overhype' her. I'm sure a lot of them don't have problems with her music whatsoever, aside maybe from the "Formation" Superbowl controversy and that's it.

Lol I still don't get how that performance was considered as 'controversial' to begin with.

I consider myself more of a casual fan of Beyoncé, so I cant really know for sure how is the relationship between her and other fan bases, but I’ll say this:
For the things Beyoncé fights and stands for in her career, I would take as a compliment the fact that she bothers so many people. Her message of inclusivity and empowerment as a black woman, and the fact that she is celebrated/acclaimed because of that, clearly bothers a lot of people. The real problem would be if she got apathy for such an important discussion.
At the end of the day, all the s**t she gets will actually help her to bulid her legacy. And, the biggest irony of all is that some people who hate Beyoncé don’t realize that they are actually helping her to solidify her status of a symbol.

I don't think there's "overhype", she's the most talented performer of her generation. No other female artist comes close.

I don’t think it’s all about The Hive. The industry’s brutal, talented individuals aren’t always recognized, especially when it comes to female artists. Beyonce is among the few to consistently receive acclaim and accolades that are relatively proportionate to her contributions. So instead of directing the anger towards the industry, fans of other female artists tend to take their frustrations out on Beyonce.

I don't think people actually hate her, but I don't see her making an effort to look accessible either. For the past decade she's been doing less and less interviews, doesn't bother to show up for award shows unless she's predicted to win, doesn't perform on tv unless they give her a 10-minute slot or something. While other divas are doing SNL skits and laughing alongside the audience. She takes herself too seriously now.

I find admirable that somebody with her popularity is using her platform to address this subject and reach a wide number of people. And by the way, she was doing this way before 2020.

Everyone hates the Hive, including a lot of Beyonce fans lol. That is part of it sure, but like someone said, she's been celebrated for so long and has tons of acclaim, that's naturally going to be hated. Not even by fans and the GP, but the industry/media likes to turn on celebrities who are celebrated for too long and has shown that time and time again. They tried to do that with Taylor Swift too, who it has actually kinda affected and she almost tried to turn it back on the media with "Reputation" before realizing that that's not a winning strategy and reverting back. You just have to ignore it, which Beyonce has been really good at and which gets on people's nerves even more because they can't get to her.

Hasn’t she released like 3 albums since. Rihanna is the one who hasn’t released ANYTHING since LOTB.

Surprised no one posted this. She sounded lovely, giving me DIL era teas with that soft, subtle vocal.
