I hope she does wins an oscar and a Grammy it will take the size of Wakanda to fit all her writers and it will be good to see all those other black faces thanked for her music finna Considering she's won 23 Grammys in her lifetime (the second most awarded female in Grammy history and the most nominated in Grammy history) pretty sure she'll take the stage alone when she wins her first Oscar and a few more Grammys :) I'm just playing sis. I was a Beyonce fan when she was still in Kelly Rowlands group and singing "Cater to You" "soldier" and " Say My Name" I'm free to shade her , I'm a stan. Just particular and fussy about my music lol

We haven't even heard the album yet and people are already either calling it award worthy or uninspired crap. How about we give it a spin first?

All of Beyonce's albums (including Everything Is Love) won at least 1 Grammy so I won't be surprised if this does, too. She's 7 for 7 so far. (Though Homecoming Live and The Lion King will go up against each other now so there's that)

I shall see when I listen to the record. "Spirit" does nothing for me and I haven't been feeling her music since the original version of Self Titled. It used to bug me because she was in my top 5 favorite artists but hey, sometimes we outgrow artists, and sometimes they outgrow us.

Best Surround Sound Album gets me everytime. Yep that's a funny one. "Drunk in Love" has two more, though, bringing the self-titled total to 3 grammys. 4 almost missed it, but thankfully they awarded the masterpiece that is "Love On Top" in 2013. (It is easily one of my top songs from her.)

I love the concept and her pushing forward talent that we rarely hear about stateside. Kendrick did an alright job with that with the Black Panther Soundtrack even though it contained fewer of those kinds of artists. With the addition of African producers as well this could help spark something great in music. I love me a good chant and I want this filled to the brim with them.

The African chant is my favorite part of Spirit. I'm looking forward to the album for sure, just not loving the song.

She really could've made this an industry EVENT, instead she chose the usual 4 people on her list of collaborators and threw them in the blender with the African talent she enlisted.
Did we really need Pharrell and another Jay feature in her catalog?

A love letter to Africa??? I call BS The soundtrack features mostly Nigerian artists (I'm not complaining about this) but I can already see a really one dimensional project.

I think the video is beautiful and I’ve warmed up to the song. If Beyoncé did a whole album of nothing but whistling, some folks would say it’s the best thing she’s ever done and the other half would say they’ve never heard anything worse. It amazes me how polarizing of an artist she’s become. I think all the greats have been there.

I think I'll reserve my opinion until I hear the full album. Spirit has grown on me, the video is incredible. She's a perfectionist so I think she has spent a lot of time researching and bringing the right people on board to make it somewhat authentic but there will undoubtedly be strong hip hop elements in the mix. I agree that I could do without some of the usual suspects - get Jay-Z and Pharrell off of this. I'm still perched for a REAL Beyonce album. I would have preferred if The Gift was just a solo Beyonce album with a bunch of amazing African production and talent. I think that would have been something fresh and a good critical follow-up to Lemonade and the recent praise for Homecoming. No more joint albums, soundtracks or live albums - just give me a SOLO BEYONCE ALBUM PLEASE. Sadly, I don't think she'll put one out until 2020 which may be her longest gap between albums (with Lemonade released in 2016).

Gurl, go shout at a brick wall or something. As a founding member of the Hive, I agree w you. Im tired of the usual suspects. We just had an entire Bey/Jay album. If Pharrell is producing a song or two, fine I guess. It’s time for her to mix it up a bit.

There is only so much milk in Jay-Lipz you cant milk that marriage any more. The tours, the albums. It's time for something else.

I agree this had to potential to be more. Like what Kendrick did with Black Panther. She could have made this her "Waiting To Exhale" with her being the Whitney and doing 3-4 songs while inviting legends (Mariah), peers (ALicia Keys, Rihanna), current artists (Janelle Monae, Kendrick Lamar) and up and coming artist (Chloe x Halle).

Am I reading the tracklist/features wrong or?
Does the Lion King have anything to do with her marriage/relationship?
Isn't this something new?
Legitimately asking.

Or she could make this an album shining light on talent from Africa based off of a movie taking place in Africa.
