I think this is certainly behaving like a #1 at this point. This is exactly what Carrie needed to have another big hit at radio, and get the album back on track in terms of radio success.

Is it doing anything for the album? Not sure about album sales, but Southbound is in the top 50 on iTunes and definitely selling far better than LW and CP. Regardless, this song is zooming up the charts. I see her hitting the top 10 in the next 4-5 weeks. This is acting like a top 5 single, if not a #1. 4-5 weeks to move from 14-10? If it keeps moving similar to how it has recently it should get there in 2 as it would probably pass runaway june, brantley & lindsey, and FGL by then. Not to mention Rumor will fall behind by then as well most likely. unless it really starts to slow down i think it will be top 10 by july 22nd🤞

I knew that this would be the perfect single for summer that would gain back her momentum. Next, we need "Drinking Alone" for the fall/winter with a killer performance at the CMA Awards. And I am absolutely convinced that she needs to release a version of "Low" as a duet with Chris Stapleton as the 5th and final single. I think that would be HUGE.

Low is perfect as it is. No duet necessary.

Ew. No thanks. They can keep Crappleton off "Low" please and thank you.
Definitely still waiting for "Drinking Alone" to have its moment. "Southbound" clearly turned out to be the right hit to get her back on track, but DA still sounds like a total smash to me too.

Absolutely, and there’s sooooo much room for some killer live performances with DA... Praying it’s a single!!!

Still also waiting for "That Song That We Used To Make Love To" to be released to pop, but I am certainly not holding my breath. Didn't the new label say they were going to try and make Carrie a "global star" with this album? I love that song but it just would seem so out of place on pop radio.

Looks like it's sitting right outside the Top 10 on mediabase (#11). Hopefully it can get in there within the next week with Blake falling hard now.

Yeah, that's what is lost in the whole "Country today sounds like pop" or "Country today is too hip-hop" mess. I mean, sure, but it doesn't sound like current pop, rock, whatever. Just because a country song doesn't sound traditional doesn't mean it would fit current radio for other formats.

Yes, girl! Get those touring sales! I’m surprised Minneapolis was her 2nd highest grossing concert ever, as I was in the audience at that show and it did appear to be sold out, but usually her stops in Minneapolis are for a full house. Southbound is zooming faster than I thought, should be top 10 by next week! Hoping for a September peak at #1!

Have to take a hard disagree with the notion that TSTWUTMLT doesn't fit in with current pop playlists. Just look at what's #1 there right now. Those two songs aren't that far off from each other in terms of sound (obviously, quality wise TSTWUTMLT is far superior to "I Don't Care").
Anyway, with "God's Country" and "Some of It" both falling hard, this is poised to be on of their replacements! Hopefully this can swoop up to a nice peak in the top 5 (preferably #1, of course) by Labor Day and we can get a much riskier fourth single choice in the fall. "Drinking Alone" and "Low" would be my top two picks with "Backsliding" not far behind. I just pray they don't chicken out and give us "Kingdom."

I just pray they don't chicken out and give us "Kingdom." "Kingdom" is one of the few songs on the album she isn't performing on tour, so I highly doubt it is contention. Not sure how that choice would be considered them "chickening out" though, because it doesn't strike me as a safe choice at all? It would be one of the oddest single selections they could make from what's left on the album (it sounds like a Christian pop song from the soundtrack to a PG movie about dragons), and I think it would probably perform closer to "Love Wins" than "Southbound" for her. "Drinking Alone" and "End up with You" are probably the front-runners, but I could see "Low" being an outside possibility as well.

By that I meant them giving us yet another Christian Country Carrie single in hopes it would perform as her previous ones (which I don't think it would).

Carrie never performed "See You Again" on the Blown Away tour until it was released as a single, so while it's unlikely that songs she isn't currently performing will wind up as the 4th single, it is certainly possible since she's done it before. But like you said, I'd be stunned if "Kingdom" got released. It would easily be the worst choice for Country radio. I'd be pretty shocked if anything other than the 3 songs you mentioned or "Backsliding" was released as a future single from this era. Hoping we get "Drinking Alone" and then we can move on to a new album for Carrie though.

Zoinks! I've seen a ghost! You can see dead things? No wonder you still follow Martina McBride's career. Well, Martina came to my hometown a week ago and got about three thousand people to come see her. Whereas you could come visit my hometown and not even one person would care...

I’m thinking best case scenario is that this song goes to #1 (would be REALLY stellar if we could get the BB distinction) and that opens up a path for “Drinking Alone” to do the same later this year.

Callouts are out, and probably about as good as you can expect for a woman over 35. What's really telling is that there's not a huge difference between older men and older women, but younger men HATE it.
