now that we're almost at the end of the decade (which is crazy, but thats another story), i thought it would be interesting to look at what hit songs from this decade have been largely forgotten. im not gonna get all strict about what defines a hit (i def dont wanna go down that road again lmao), but dont just say a bunch of songs from 2010 that barely scraped the top 40 because thats too easy. anyways (imo)...
Black Widow by Iggy Azalea (and to a lesser extent Fancy, although people at least seem to remember that one exists, even if you never hear it anymore) Good Time by Owl City and Carly Rae Jepsen Cheerleader by OMI (esp for a #1 hit) Cold Water by Major Lazer (esp for a recentish #2 hit) As Long as You Love Me and esp Beauty and a Beat by Justin Bieber White Walls by Macklemore Dont You Worry Child by Swedish House Mafia (at least outside of the EDM community -- i could buy this still being pretty well remembered there)
can you guys think of any other examples of this?

That Rihanna x Eminem song. Not LTWYL — though you could make a case against that one as well — the other one.

DYWC is forgotten?
Its official video has more views than a lot of the songs mentioned here. Maybe in the US it's forgotten, I'll give you that, but in places like Europe it was so big that it's impossible to forget.
Also in the EDM community? I've seen like 10 people in it saying it's their favorite song ever lmao

Looking at the year-end Top 40 of 2010-2015, I had more or less forgotten about:
Post to Be — Omarion ft. Chris Brown and Jhené Aiko Locked Away — R. City ft. Maroon 5 Wiggle—Jason Derulo ft. Snoop Dog Holy Grail—Jay Z ft. Justin Timberlake Safe and Sound — Capital Cities Give Your Heart a Break—Demi Lovato Just Can't Get Enough—Black Eyed Peas Lighters—Bad Meets Evil ft. Eminem Carry Out—Timbaland ft. Justin Timberlake

I said this before in a different thread somewhere but Controlla by Drake is one of the most forgotten hits I've seen in a while and it only came out a few years ago lol

That Rihanna x Eminem song. Not LTWYL — though you could make a case against that one as well — the other one. The Monster, I guess? I'd also forgotten about Bad Meets Evil (of course including Eminem) and "Lighters", as mentioned here. It got to #4 on the Hot 100 and #2 at CHR but sure seemed to fade fast. For someone who seemed to be everywhere in the first half of the decade, most of Pitbull's hits seem at least to me to be pretty well forgotten, except for "Give Me Everything" and maybe one or two others. Several big hits by artists like Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber or Katy Perry who have had many #1's seem to be forgotten or at least underplayed, which isn't surprising when you think of it. A lot of such songs were largely hits due to momentum or name recognition, and there is only so much recurrent play that a single artist can get.

Pretty much all of Kesha's hits aside from Tik Tok and Praying I'd argue "Praying" has been forgotten as well tbh. Aside from some strong longevity inside top 40 it wasn't really big though so that's probably why.

Pretty much all of Kesha's hits aside from Tik Tok and Praying Agreed for the most part. I think people generally remember "Die Young" and I still hear organically from time to time.

I’ll give one from each year from 2010-2017 2010: Say Aah - Trey Songz ft. Fabulous. Peaked at #9 2011: Hey Baby (Drop It To The Floor) - Pitbull ft. T-Pain. Peaked at #7 2012: I Won’t Give Up - Jason Mraz. Peaked at #8 2013: Holy Grail - Jay Z ft. Justin Timberlake. Peaked at #4 2014: Don’t Tell ‘Em - Jeremih ft. YG. Peaked at #6 2015: Somebody - Natalie La Rose ft. Jeremih. Peaked at #10 2016: Cold Water - Major Lazer ft. Justin Bieber and MØ. Peaked at #2! 2017 Fake Love - Drake. Peaked at #8
Even though Cold Water peaked at #2 And was just 3 years ago I can not for the life of me tell you any of the lyrics or how it sounds like. I wouldn’t even know the song existed if I didn’t follow the charts. The rest of these I remember growing up but you just never hear them anymore.

So weird you mention this; I heard this on the radio today and almost completely forgot it existed. It seemed to get completely over shadowed by "Let Me Love You," but I find "Cold Water" to be a much superior song. That being said, at least it's still getting spins on KIIS.

Maybe so, though I like it. But it wasn't as big a hit as "We Are Young" or "Some Nights", neither of which can really be called forgotten.

I’m just gonna say it for all of us because we all know it’s gonna happen: Girls Like You by Maroon 5 will be the most forgotten number one of the decade.

I’m just gonna say it for all of us because we all know it’s gonna happen: Girls Like You by Maroon 5 will be the most forgotten number one of the decade. see when it initially reached #1 i wouldve agreed, but its insane longevity is mainly from the radio, who i can see giving GIY heavy rotation as a recurrent (especially (H)AC)
