Would love to see North Dakota's state music chart. wtf would that look like, Pretty similar to the national chart. charts.youtube.com/location/0x52d7831257d8e963%3A0xd849a39835ecfc9Pretty much every state would have similar top songs. It's not like North Dakota speaks a different language or anything. The only noticeable difference would probably be Country songs doing notably better in Southern states.

Old town road is still in the top 3, and Let It go is in the top 10....thank god I don't live there.

Man this would be so cool if it existed 20 years ago. I kind of wish Billboard still kept the European Hot 100. I liked the European Hot 100, but now people are talking about weighting, a common theme in that chart were songs only popular in the UK (and Ireland sometimes), but non-existent in other countries would debut around #7 and then freefall down the chart. A similar thing would probably happen with Japan songs in this chart. Agreed - the methodlogy of the chart was very weird to me (hard to believe it's an official chart) For example, it has some very obscure #1s like Busta Rhymes' "I Know What You Want", Enrique & Whitney Houston's "Could I Have This Kiss Forever"

The latter was #1 in Holland, Switz. and Germany and top five almost everywhere else, and I still hear the former practically in every club or party function I attended too here in London. I know not every song is meant to be a hit, however I still donβt understand why βCIHTKFβ bombed in the U.S considering Iglesiasβ crossover popularity at the time and Houston was just coming off of βMy Love Is Your Loveβ which was a big top five hit as well as βI Learned From The Bestβ. Radio, outside of AC, didnβt even give it a chance.

They were decent hits but "CIHTKF" was only #1 in Switzerland not Germany, went top 10 in multiple European countries, and they didn't make top 20 on any year end charts in Europe except Switzerland (#13). Also "IKWYW"'s only decent markets were UK (#3) and Switzerland (#5) and was #38 and #25 on the year end chart respectively.

Imagine how many weeks "Dance Monkey" would have gotten at #1 on this chart, given its utter ubiquity everywhere.

www.billboard.com/articles/news/9448370/billboard-launches-new-global-charts?utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=socialFor the first time, Billboard and MRC unveil two authoritative charts ranking the top songs globally. The new weekly charts, the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S., are based on worldwide streams and download sales and will give an accurate glimpse into the most popular songs on the planet. Launching today, the Billboard Global 200 is inclusive of worldwide songs while Billboard Global Excl. U.S. focuses on all territories outside the United States. Both collate sales and streaming data from more than 200 territories, with rankings based on a weighted formula incorporating official-only streams on both subscription and ad-supported tiers of leading digital platforms, and downloads from key online music retailers. Leading the inaugural Billboard Global 200 is "WAP" By Cardi B Featuring Megan Thee Stallion, while the first Billboard Global Excl. U.S. is ruled by Malumaβs "Hawai." "As the steward of the definitive industry charts," comments MRC Data and MRC Media & Info president Deanna Brown, "we're thrilled to unveil out our global charts which give the industry insights into the most powerful artists worldwide, what songs have an international impact, as well as what songs may start trending outside of the United States." "Billboard and MRC Data are proud to present charts that are reflective of a world view and we are committed to the continued expansion of territories and digital service providers contributing to the global charts to further expand that reach,β comments Silvio Pietroluongo, Billboard senior vp, Charts & Data Development. Billboard and MRC Data have been discussing the idea of global charts with the industry and data providers for more than two years. One of the goals for the project was to expose people to music from multiple territories. In time, it is hoped that the power of the Billboard and MRC Data brands will bring overdue exposure and recognition for acts from international markets. The full charts will be made available on Billboard.com on Tuesday (Sept. 15), and be published every Tuesday going forward. For both charts, the top 100 songs are featured on Billboard.com, while the complete 200-title rankings are visible on Billboard Pro, Billboardβs subscription-based service.

If itβs true that this chart excludes all domestic platforms and only measures Apple Music, Spotify and YouTube, then it also excludes domestic purchasing platforms.
Doesnβt that make this an inaccurate measure of whatβs globally popular?

Finally! Regarding iTunes and other digital sales platform, while omission might change things a bit their impact should be quite small even if the Global 200 used a methodology similar to the Official Singles Chart. It is great they are disregarding the D2C sales that serve to inflate the weekly Hot 100 chart for the songs that use it.

i really hope for this chart to last long, although it seems very likely for it to last long.
i also hope that it doesn't end up like the philippine hot 100 which only lasted for a few months... what happened to this chart by the way? the argentina and indonesia charts did really good tho

For those who do not like the radio component on the hot 100. This chart is for you.

Blinding Lights and Dance Monkey would have destroyed this chart from November 2019 to June 2020. They spent 17 and 16 weeks on top of the United world chart respectively

One thing to maybe get used to when this chart comes out
Since this is a broader measurement than just the USA
Song X "feels like a #1" but isn't
"We all know what everyone is listening to and it is not BTS" - "Billboard is a fraud"
May not hold up quite as well
I think this is great because it will give exposure to broader types of music

It will be interesting to see how the weekly Global 200 compares to the UWC track chart, even though the latter posts their weekly chart on the Saturday that the former is dated.

This will be kind of difficult for Billboard to compile but a #1 on this chart will be even more impressive than a hot 100 #1...

Korea is set to be getting Spotify this fall. Iβm not sure how that transition will occur since they rely heavily on Melon for streaming but I would imagine we can predict KPop getting a bigger spotlight on this chart. Itβs exciting. Iβm ready to see KPop and Reggeaton artists finally being represented considering a lot of those artists are arguably bigger globally than some of the artists dominating the Hot 100.

At least for now, we can say βWAPβ is the biggest global hit in chart history.

Have they officially confirmed which countries are included?
Wonder if this will take off, or eventually go unnoticed and forgotten like the European Hot 100 was in the 1990s.

Right now it looks like they are promoting it as a "flagship" chart. On the same level as the Artist 100, BB200 and Hot 100
We'll see

I wonder if we'll also see an early release for the Top 10 like they do for the main Hot 100.
