“Monster Mash” is outperforming “Thriller” right now on iTunes. I’ve always been more of a MM fan myself. It’s a graveyard SMASH. Did it have any actual hot 100 success?

Revisited the Taylor Swift/Brendon Urie's "ME!" thread and after reading some of my past posts, I was a bit sad because Brendon never got his well-deserved #1 because "Old Town Road" was too strong at the time. But still, Brendon collaborating with Ms. Swift is one of the best things 2019 gave to me in terms of music.

I wanted to know because I was curious, why didn't it make the all time chart with all those weeks in the top 10? Was its chart run in the lower positions?

But still, Brendon collaborating with Ms. Swift is one of the best things 2019 gave to me in terms of music. Honestly, as much as I was one of the few people who actually enjoyed “ME!” and its light-hearted fun lyrics, I am glad it was blocked from #1, simply because it would kind of suck if, after a more than a decade of churning out great songs with Panic! At The Disco, Brendon’s first #1 hit ended up being a collab with an incredibly popular artist, and that none of the song’s pull actually came from his personal input or performance. It wouldn’t feel as earned than if “High Hopes” got to #1, for example. That’s just my opinion, of course 🙂

The UK chart just had 5 songs enter the top 10 this week. Meanwhile on the Hot 100, the only week to debut more than 2 songs in the top 10 this year was the week following Christmas. I know the UK chart's rules make it a lot less accurate than the Hot 100, but it would be exciting to see such a huge shift in the top 10 that isn't just due to an album bomb. The UK once had a week where Eminem, Christina Aguilera, Destiny's Child, Britney Spears and Usher all debuted in the top 5. And 7 debuts in the top 10 overall. 5 debuts in the top 5 is one thing, but all from A-list pop stars is crazy! www.officialcharts.com/charts/singles-chart/20041107/7501/

Juice WRLD's Biggest Billboard Hits 12/8/2019 by Kevin Rutherfordwww.billboard.com/articles/business/chart-beat/8545702/juice-wrld-biggest-billboard-hitsThe late rapper/singer reached the Billboard Hot 100 25 times in under two years, led by the No. 2-peaking "Lucid Dreams." Despite a relatively short career on the international stage, Juice WRLD had quite a prolific time span on the Billboard Hot 100. After initially debuting two songs, “All Girls are the Same” and “Lucid Dreams,” on the Hot 100 dated May 26, 2018, the 21-year-old Chicago rapper/singer, who died Sunday (Dec. 8), notched 25 total appearances on the chart both as a lead and featured artist. In fact, on the Dec. 7 tally prior to his death, he was included on three different songs on the 100-position ranking, two as a lead artist. Nothing could quite top the breakthrough hit, though. After “All Girls Are the Same” and “Lucid Dreams” debuted at Nos. 92 and 74 on the May 26, 2018, survey, respectively, it was the latter that became Juice WRLD’s first bona fide success, moving into the top 40 a week later. Its rise was swift, assisted by its catchy melody and a familiarity for an older demographic due to a sample of Sting’s 1993 song “Shape of My Heart.” In just four weeks, the song was in the top 10 of the Hot 100, and it eventually peaked at No. 2 on the Oct. 6, 2018, holding the spot for two nonconsecutive weeks. Not that he was a one-hit wonder: after the success of “Lucid Dreams,” Juice WRLD notched multiple Hot 100 appearances, including the No. 26 debut and peak of “Fine China,” with Future, from his October 2018 collaborative mixtape with Future, Wrld on Drugs. In 2019, he remained an artist whose new releases had a strong chance of making the Hot 100 in some capacity, whether there was an initial promotional push at radio or not. “Robbery” started at No. 27 in March 2019, and most recently, “Bandit,” his collaboration with YoungBoy Never Broke Again, united both artists’ fan bases to debut at No. 11 on the Oct. 19, 2019, ranking, rising to a No. 10 peak the following week. Though he did not manage a Hot 100 No. 1 during his lifetime, Juice WRLD did snag multiple leaders across other Billboard charts. That included a two-week reign for “Lucid Dreams” atop the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Hot Rap Songs tallies (October 2018). In all, he earned two top 10s on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Hot Rap Songs, with nine top 20s overall on each Here’s a look at Juice WRLD’s top five songs on the Hot 100, ranked by peak position: 1. “Lucid Dreams,” No. 2 peak, Oct. 6, 2018 2. “Bandit” (with YoungBoy Never Broke Again), No. 10, Oct. 26, 2019 3. “Fine China” (with Future), No. 26, Nov. 3, 2018 4. “Robbery,” No. 27, March 2, 2019 5. “Hear Me Calling,” No. 38, March 23, 2019 “Lucid Dreams” was also No. 1 on Streaming Songs in June 2018 for a pair of frames. On the radio front, the song also led Rhythmic Songs for a week (Oct. 13, 2018). Nearly a year-and-a-half after “Lucid Dreams” ruled Streaming Songs, “Bandit” was also a leader there, snagging No. 1 on the Nov. 16, 2019, survey. At the end of 2018, he was crowned Billboard’s top new R&B/hip-hop artist, and earlier this year, he was awarded top new artist at the Billboard Music Awards.

This is the week airplay singles were allowed on the Hot 100. For the record, Billboard does not consider "I'm Your Angel" a #1 debut, because it was #1 on previous test charts.

In the history of the recording industry, "All I Want For Christmas" has had one of the most unique runs of popularity.
We're talking about a song that hit the top 10 on the Hot 100 Airplay in 1994, topped Digital Songs in 2005 (prior to modern recurrent rule), and now through the power of streaming, can potentially be #1 on the Hot 100. It's no wonder that this is a modern day classic. No song in Billboard's history has taken 25 years to complete the run. These next two weeks should be the most interesting ones in a long, long time...

If, one the other hand, Lucid Dreams gets to #1 on posthumous sales & streams, it will be Sting's third #1 writing credit on a song he wasn't really involved in writing. - The first was "Money For Nothing" by Dire Straits. The "I Want my, I want my, I want my MTV" chant used the same melody as "Don't stand so, don't stand so, don't stand so close to me". Sting actually sings his own borrowed composition at the start of the track.
- Most famously, Puff Daddy's "I'll Be Missing You" took its tune from "Every Breath You Take". Puffy has correctly pointed out that if the two records' chart runs were combined, they'd be the all-time #1 song in Hot 100 history.
- "Lucid Dreams" borrows that acoustic guitar riff at the start from "Shape Of My Heart", a Sting solo tune. Apparently, Sting gets an astounding 85% of the writing royalties from the Juice WRLD track as a result. Merry Christmas, Sting.
