you keep using Black people's gifs, maybe support their work too instead of telling them to go back to ATRL also, you're lurking around the threads of artists you clearly have a problem with too much, it's not good for your health babes I support plenty of black artists and don't worry about my health. This is a public board, I can post whenever and wherever I want!

Yeah...of ALL non-POC to question on support of Black artists, you chose the wrong one and for what, because he doesn't support one-hit wonder (sorry not sorry but you are probably the only one who is going to remember that awful Panini mess when his career is a mere footnote in pop culture history) Lil Nas X?? Mario has proven time and time again to be well-versed in Black LEGENDS and artists that contribute meaningfully to the culture.

Digital blackface? This isn't Rachel Dolezal you're talking to. Girl gone. Rachel Dolezal did literal blackface for decades lol I don't know why you'd bring her up. Anyways. What I was calling you out for is participating in a culture that perpetuates the stereotype that Black people, especially Black women, are more "sassy" or "temperamental" compared to the rest of the society. You can also Google it, I'm sure. I doubt you will.

Wow. That was a wildly absurd leap in logic. You could've just said you don't like Mario and moved on.

That's not what I'm about and you are crossing the line. Please stop.

I don't understand how someone who INTENTIONALLY selected an avatar of a non-POC woman who has gone so far as to PAY to have exaggerated and stereotypical features of Black women is out here playing this particular card, but...here we are. Anyway, let's end the personal attacks and character assassination and focus on Lil Nas X and his poor attempts at avant-garde fashion.

I have explained many times that I'm not a fan of Kim Kardashian & call that family out on their bullshit. I do not have any reason to not like #LisaRinna or attack them personally, but I have noticed that every time they imply certain emotions with their reaction gifs, they tend to go for a certain subset of people which I find strange, and have studied this type of behavior extensively throughout my higher education. This is a public forum, so I have the right to call them out on this (and joke about them visiting the threads of people they don't like) as much as they have the right to come here and tell Lil Nas X to stop making art and go back to ATRL.

Is Lil Nas X actually gay or was that another stunt? I am starting to wonder. what is the point of this? what makes you wonder it's a stunt? statistically speaking, being LGBTQ+ doesn't really accelerate people's careers so I don't know how this would work as a marketing ploy.

Yeah, all indications are that there is public interest in new material from him. As stated before, he had success following "Old Town Road" so I don't know where this "his music career is over" business comes from as if he has had a string of flops....weird.
Anyway, excited to see what he brings to the table! As an LGBT person myself, I am always going to root for those who bring more representation to the forefront in music.

Other than the drama in here, what's with all the negativity around Lil Nas X? It's odd to me considering the lengths gone to defend some of Bieber's recent choices. King will slay another day.

This is ridiculous. People are free to criticize artists without being attacked as being racist or perpetuating black stereotypes or participating in digital black face.
It's also okay to disagree with someone opinions on an artist they like without resorting to below the belt ad hominem attacks.
And mario as a black person who knows you well, unless myself or Cynthia, Lee or Shooter or wave or anyone else who is black hasnt accused you of harming the black community, then you're doing fine.

As for Lil Nas X. I'm happy he had huge success while coming out and I hope he continues to take his music career serious going forward. I hope he doesnt disappear like Frank Ocean. I'm waiting on a full album before I critique his artistry.

And mario as a black person who knows you well, unless myself or Cynthia, Lee or Shooter or wave or anyone else who is black hasnt accused you of harming the black community, then you're doing fine. I would like to clarify that my comment was not a response to Mario's "criticism" of Lil Nas X, but rather something I have seen them do over the time I've been on this forum, and a response to them posting a GIF of Oprah as a response to me. Any time there is no substantial verbal response they can give, they seem to post a Black woman as a reaction (whether it's Nene Leakes or Oprah or Kandi). With the exception of one Gaga gif they posted today, this seems to be the case for all GIFs they posted alongside their last 300 posts. That's a pattern of someone using Black women's emotions in a way that caused me to raise an eyebrow over the years, not a new reaction. As Shooter once told me, "you don't even know who's Black and who's not anymore with all the pictures and gifs" so it took me very long to even realize the person in question wasn't Black. As a person who is non-Black but has studied Black history and Black representation in media, I value your opinion and perspective, and do not want to blow this out of proportion. I'm not claiming Mario is racist, or this is harmful to the Black community here. I used to engage in this behavior before I learned about what "digital blackface" means, too, without realizing its impacts in the long run. I had always assumed this was "internet culture," kind of like how some people try to claim AAVE (African American Vernacular English) as "TikTok slang" or whatever they call it. I'm also not saying Black artists are above criticism. I just think the sort of comments made without reasoning that question his queerness and declaring his career over are of no use to anyone in this community, and won't help us see more representation of BIPOC LGBTQ+ artists, especially in the world of hip-hop and hip-hop adjacent music.

I disagree with your assessment on Mario but appreciate your point of view above. From a reading along all I seen was Mario make a snarky post and then read digital black face so it felt wrong to me. Like a personal attack.
I'll say this ..we all have different opinions and not one is above the other but Mario does have genuine love for " urban" and black culture and his own personality, just like you seem to have genuine love for urban and black culture. Let's get to know each other before we disparage each other. I genuinely have seen anti black artists posts elsewhere and would have said the same things maybe if I didnt know him.

Perhaps because I've done research on this a lot and scoured social media for examples of non-Black people appropriating Black culture, I'm programmed to respond to even more "tepid" examples like this quite harshly, and have taken a mental note of this poster generally using a handful of Black women in their responses often. Looking back, I probably shouldn't have used this as a "comeback" at Mario. Diluting the issue of "digital blackface" is also as harmful as engaging in it. This could have been a conversation for a different day.

kimberly I guess the Lisa Rinna gif I used to reply to you yesterday slipped out of your mental note? *shrug* Accusing me of doing digital blackface is a personal attack on my character and as usual you blew things out of proportion.

Well, to me, the part that isn't clear isn't whether you are doing this but rather what your intentions are. Any non-BIPOC person should be able to take criticism on their behavior towards BIPOC, especially when that criticism is coming from a BIPOC, and reflect and be receptive instead of getting defensive imo, but you do you. I'm done with this. Ciao!

Like Queen Alicia is out here in the streets sangin' Wasted E-e-e-energyyyy! Stream Alicia. As for the subject of this small thread, I actually paid for his EP but was pretty disappointed outside OTR remix (because of Billy Ray) and Rodeo (because of Cardi). Like with any artist, I will keep an open mind. I'm just not going to give him any more credit than is due and I apologize, as a member of the LGBTQ and Black community, if me legit questioning his sexuality because he is known for his troll Twitter tactics, is offensive in any way. Wasn't my intent.
