Well it is listeners for pop radio, not urban or rhythmic where the majority of the demographics that love those songs and find iconic are going to be. And the ones you have listed there that aren't hip-hop grew as the songs became more familiar with those surveyed. Because that's another thing to remember, these are snapshots of weekly surveys, which themselves are weekly snapshots of a song's months long run. I would think the fact that Happy and Blurred Lines both appear here from surveys done towards the end of their runs should show just how much these surveys can change from week to week and that basing anything off of just one week of data is missing the point.

I'm not even the biggest fan of Heroes (Alesso has soooooo many better songs) but HAC ain't shit for their opinions on it. How the hell is that particular song even the absolute worst on that list?

Hi kids! Do you like violence? Wanna see me stick nine inch nails through each one of my eyelids?
Man, whoever heard these lyrics and thought "Hey, the Pop audience will love this!," I imagine they must've been fired and blacklisted from ever working in the radio industry again after those callout scores. Great song, but man, I couldn't ever imagine pop radio ever daring to play it. π

Does anybody have any callout scores for country and the rock formats? Those sound like they'd be pretty divisive (apparently a cover of Butterfly Kisses that charted on Country tested so bad stations got death threats for playing it).

A whole bunch of listeners threatened the DJs and stations for playing such a "pedophillic" song and a few got pretty violent. Taboo stuff tends to have bad callouts on country (the Tim McGraw song Red Rag Top was similarly controversial with listeners for mentioning an abortion).

This website has rock and country scores. Iβll compile all songs in last place positions since Feb 14, 1999 if you guys want them. Iβll do it because itβs pretty interesting.

Disappointing and in some cases shocking to these songs on this list. "Beautiful Day" is the standout. That song is a classic on every level as are the 2 Eminem songs and "One More Time."
"Simple Kind Of Life," "Californication" and "Sad Eyes" (despite its laughably bad lyrics) are all-time favorites of mine

So many of these songs are like really recent. Also "Good News" seriously is among the best HAC callouts but it still did almost nothing.

Well it is listeners for pop radio, not urban or rhythmic where the majority of the demographics that love those songs and find iconic are going to be. That reminds me! I realised that I can modify my script to compile any genre separately. The data used in the following tables can be found at the link iHype posted (http://www.mmr247.com/mmrweb/call/index.asp). I only used Currents, but for some reason the site bugs out for a lot of weeks in 2001 and it downloads the Currents & Recurrents list... So I put a filter on it and only counted weeks where there were less than 60 songs (The glitchy weeks in 2001 had 100). "Fam" means familiarity, which means what % of the people asked were familiar with the song. Lmao at the irony of "Started From the Bottom" being at the bottom of the list when it first climbed the charts haha.

It's outrageous that "Song For the Lonely" would be that high on the list. Love that song, and enjoy it even more than "Believe." Then again, there are some big hits present on there, so have to take it with a grain of salt.

However it's pretty disco sounding and Cher's light accent/inflections to her voice are right there so perhaps the kids didn't love it. I bet it stuck out some. However what callout scores are these because now a days you need to be Top 20 to be able to get scored...?

Iβll fix it when I get home from work + run the compiler for Rock and Country Yo Codex, just wondering are you still planning on doing this haha?

It's hard to belive Xtina's "Car Wash" and Mariah's "I Still Believe" got such negative callouts, especially over infinitely more divisive songs like "Look What You Made Me Do", "ME!", and "Yummy", which didn't even crack the list.
Also, why would anyone hate Whitney's "It's Not Right But It's Okay"? That song is incredible! Oh, and Britney's "Toxic" deserved so much better!
Surprised to see "Picture" with the best callouts on pop - definitely wasn't expecting that. It's a pretty great song, though, so I'm not complaining.

What was wrong with "Beautiful Day", a song that's become kind of an optimistic anthem (something we could use more of lately)?
