'A Star Is Born' Soundtrack Is Certified Double Platinum in U.S.
News
By Hannah Malach | June 25, 2019 11:43 AM EDT A Star Is Born
Today (June 25), the RIAA announced that the soundtrack for the 2018 film A Star Is Born is certified double platinum in the U.S. Additionally, A Star Is Born is the biggest selling album of 2019 thus far in the U.S.
Released by Interscope Records, the album sold over 6 million copies globally and over 2 million equivalent units in the U.S.
The film's soundtrack debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, with Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper's hit single "Shallow" peaking at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in March 2019.
A Star Is Born marks Gaga's third RIAA-certified double platinum album, the second being her 2011 album Born This Way.

Polo G's 'Die a Legend' Hits No. 1 on Top Rap Albums Chart
News
By Trevor Anderson | June 27, 2019 3:12 PM EDT Polo G
Polo G clocks his first No. 1 on Top Rap Albums, as Die a Legend rises 2-1 to lead the list dated June 29. The set earned 29,000 equivalent album units in the week ending June 20, according to Nielsen Music.
Notably, Legend is the fourth album this year to rise to No. 1 without having debuted there, following A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie’s Hoodie SZN, DJ Khaled’s Father of Asahd and Nipsey Hussle’s Victory Lap. Hoodie and Father, like Legend, debuted in the chart’s runner-up slot and ascended into the top rank in their third and second chart weeks, respectively.
Victory, meanwhile, first entered the chart in March 2018 and returned to the list directly at No. 1 following Hussle’s death in Los Angeles on March 31, 2019. Hoodie and Victory have each led Top Rap Albums for four weeks this year -- the most of any album.
Legend contains the hit single “Pop Out,” featuring Lil Tjay, which spends its third week in the top 10 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart with a 7-9 slide. “Pop” backtracks 13-15 on R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales, with 4,000 downloads in the week ending June 20, down 21% and R&B/Hip-Hop Streaming Songs through a 2-6 dip with 28.1 million U.S. clicks in the same window. Both declines are typical for songs on albums in their second chart week.
“Pop” advances, however, at radio with a 32-27 boost on the R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart. It jumps 28% to 6.7 million in audience in the week ending June 23, according to Nielsen Music.
The single likewise reaches new peaks on two other radio rankings: Rap Airplay (up 22-21) through a 25% audience gain in the week) and Rhythmic Songs (30-24), fueled by a 17% surge in plays in the same period.

Madonna & Bruce Springsteen Are Nos. 1 & 2 on the Billboard 200 Albums Chart -- Just Like in 1985
6/24/2019 by Keith Caulfield
For the first time since 1985, music superstars Madonna and Bruce Springsteen are in the top two on the Billboard 200 albums chart at the same time.
The Queen of Pop’s new album Madame X bows at No. 1, while The Boss’ Western Stars starts at No. 2.
As previously reported, Madame X launches atop the list with 95,000 equivalent album units earned in the U.S. in the week ending June 20, according to Nielsen Music. Western Stars bows with 66,000 units earned. Madame X is Madonna’s ninth No. 1 and 22nd top 10, while Western marks Springsteen’s 20th top 10.
The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on multi-metric consumption as measured in equivalent album units. Units are comprised of traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). The new June 29-dated chart (where Madame X and Western enter at Nos. 1 and 2) will be posted in full on Billboard's websites on June 25.
With Madonna and Springsteen at Nos. 1 and 2 on the new Billboard 200, it’s the first time they have been in the top two together since 1985. The last time they were next-door neighbors in the top two (and the only time before this week) was for four weeks in January and February that year. On the charts dated Jan. 26 and Feb. 2, 1985, Springsteen’s Born in the U.S.A. and Madonna’s Like a Virgin were Nos. 1 and 2, respectively. Then, the titles flipped ranks on Feb. 9 and Feb. 16. (Born spent a total of seven weeks at No. 1 and Virgin ruled for three weeks.)

Thanks, Gary. :) How were you able to research that tidbit? So Even Bon Jovi's biggest drop for a No. ,1 as of now, isn't among the 14, at least, biggest positional drops.

^Nice. So you have a find feature that finds the biggest drops? Otherwise that's some quick scrolling.

^This is from Wikipedia. Perhaps Gary can confirm. The Bon Jovi entries are for the same album; the bigger drop was when it re-entered at No. 1; the 2016 is when it debuted on top.
Bon Jovi, 2018, 1-169 Brand New Science, 2017- 1-97 Brockhampton, 2018- 1-88 Jack White, 2018- 1-62 The Killers, 2017- 1-59 LDC Soundsystem, 2017- 1-56 Bon Jovi, 2016, 1-43 Pentatonix, 2017- 1-41 Arcade Fire, 2017- 1-38 Incubus, 2006- 1-37

How do they compile the artist 100?
If it takes into consideration Hot 100 points, Madonna wouldn't be above Billie.

The Artist 100 measures artist activity across key metrics of music consumption, blending album and track sales, radio airplay, streaming and social media fan interaction to provide a weekly multi-dimensional ranking of artist popularity.
