“Sometimes It Takes Balls to Be a Woman” was released as the lead single to Elizabeth’s third major-label album Balls which was released in May, 2007. While the song did not chart the title track was nominated for Song of the Year at the 2007 Americana Music Awards. This yinned and yanged at or near the bottom 5 for most of the rankdown as it didn’t quite get off to a good start thanks to yours truly who placed this down near the bottom of their list. It recovered momentarily with Kanenrá:ke ’s top 15 ranking where he was joined by gardyfan . This fell back, though, as it continued to receive four additional bottom 5’s including a last place from austin . In the end if it wasn’t for George Strait Junkie ’s top 5 this likely wouldn’t have escaped the bottom.

“Unglamorous” was the lead single and album title from Lori’s first major label debut released in the summer of 2007. Produced by Tim McGraw and Byron Gallimore, all of the songs on the album were written or co-written by McKenna. This did about as well as I thought it might as I was anxious it might be a bottom 5 contender. Luckily thanks to the early support from Kanenrá:ke’s top 10 this never entered that range even though it did receive three bottom 5’s including George Strait Junkie who just lost a top 5 in the previous reveal. While this did receive a few top 30’s/40’s it was the handful of top 50’s that ended up keeping this from getting any higher.

Unglamorous was well enough - the production was just a tad plodding for me. Loved her vocals though!! Wish this could've at least cracked Top 40

Carter's Chord "Boys Like You (Give Love a Bad Name)" A river of tears runs through this town From all the girls you've messed around Those poor things never had a clue What they were gettin' their selves into
Tammy Cochran "Angels In Waiting" Waiting for wings to fly from this world, Away from their pain Treasuring time til time came to leave, Leaving behind sweet memories Angels in waiting; angels in waiting for wings Angels in waiting; angels in waiting for me
Jewel "I Do" Love is a game until it's played And if it's lost it can't ever be saved We have heaven to win and hell to lose But the difference is up to me and you So if you will, I will stop saying I won't And start saying I do
Elizabeth Cook "Before I Go That Far" Just imagine me makin' love In another's arms If that breaks your heart . . . stop me Stop me before I go that far

And with that we've reached the top 45! Here's a recap of what we've lost thus far:
55. Fight Like a Girl 54. Honeysuckle Sweet 53. That Song In My Head 52. Keep the Change 51. I'm Just a Girl
50. Different Breed 49. I Cry 48. Stronger Woman 47. Sometimes It Takes Balls to Be a Woman 46. Unglamorous
I'm going to be out of town this weekend as I'm going to a couple of shows so I'm not sure I'm going to be able to do any reveals, but I'll be taking my MacBook just incase! If not look for me to pick back up with this right where we left off next week.

Welder by Elizabeth Cook is a better album to pick songs from. The song in the rankdown is just a not-so-funny female anthem on honky tonk mode. This is a more fun song featuring her. I also have no idea that Lori McKenaa used to have this fuller/grunge-like production in her music. There are some vocal moments that might be polarizing. I like how she delivers the featured lines in the post though. I just keep losing... Maybe I'll at least win biggest closeness score? Well country rankdown hosts usually won't calculate closeness score so you will never know!

Ugh I see how this is going to go, there's sooo many amazing songs here that'll get done in simply because they weren't by big name artists. I mean I like 54 of the 55 songs here so ultimately whatever, but it guts me to see 3 of my top 10 out already. Jessi's "Honeysuckle Sweet" has been one of my favorite songs since I first heard it, it's got such a wonderful warmth to it. Her debut album was so good too, I always wished more people would've heard it. "Different Breed" is just such a great jam and LBTrocks is right that the end of the song is just perfection! Elizabeth has better songs than "Balls" sure but it's just so fun! I do think everybody should give some of her other material a chance! The song tim chose to highlight is great, her Welder album is really good but her latest Exodus Of Venus may appeal to a wider group here. .indulgecountry should listen to her Hey Y'all album! Lori's entire Unglamorous album was just a perfect look into one of the best songwriters of the last decade. "Your Next Lover", "Falter", "Drinking Problem", and especially "Leavin' This Life" are all highlights for me. The title track is also great, I love how it looks at life. One of Lori's strengths as a writer imo. "Stronger Woman" is so good and I love Jewel's vocals here, but it's mid pack in a list this strong. While I love "Keep The Change" I feel like one of her other singles may have done better here. "Sometimes" from her debut has long been a favorite. Same can be said with Tammy's "I Cry", great song but I think "Life Happened" would've done better. "Fight Like A Girl" is nice though it's just a tad on the lightweight side here. "I'm Just A Girl" Is good but Deana had way better to offer. "That Song In My Head" isn't horrible, but it's just there for me. Everything else here I like.

Coming right up is song #45 which two of you somehow found a spot to place in dead last (seriously?!) and unfortunately for two others a top 5 and top 10 is gone.

“The Clown” is just one of many songs that singer-songwriter Hillary Lindsey has co-written or written over the years. She had her first number one song as a writer in 2002 with Martina McBride’s “Blessed” while Carrie Underwood has taken eleven of her songs to the top including “Jesus, Take the Wheel”, “Wasted”, and “Two Black Cadillacs” just to name a few. She is the recipient of two Grammy Awards for Best Country Song (“Just, Take the Wheel” and “Girl Crush”) as well as receiving numerous other accolades over the years from both the Country Music Association and Academy of Country Music Awards. I was never quite sure how well this was going to perform and while I probably would’ve guessed that it might end up being one of the most polarizing songs it really fell in the middle of the pack. While the majority of us placed this within their top 40 there were a handful who put this inside their top 30 and 20 including bboat11 . At both ends of the spectrum, though, we have the conspirator’s .indulgecountry and SHOOTER who both somehow put this dead last while the hurt is real for Darkest Hour and toomuchboy as they lose a top 5 and top 10.

Reba did great with this, but for me it was a rare moment where I find a cover (yes, even Reba) to be worse than the original. When I hear the cover first, I usually end up not liking the original as much. (Even I Told You So is an example of this. I first heard Carrie's cover, and didn't like Randy's original as much upon hearing it.)
Hillary Lindsey is an incredible songwriter and I was kinda shook at her vocals! She oughta put out an album or two of songs she's given to other artists (or even her own originals that we've never heard--I mean she's country music Sia if you ask me) just for fun imo!

“Miss Being Mrs.” was the first single released from Loretta’s forty-second solo studio album Van Lear Rose. Released in April of 2004, the album was produced by Jack White of the White Stripes. A song that was recommended by Kanenrá:ke himself takes another hit as this becomes his first top 5 loss and fourth top 10 loss overall (sorry bud!) while Darkest Hour loses a top 10 (and just after losing a top 5!). While a handful also put this inside their top 20 just as many participants placed this in their bottom 5 (including another for .indulgecountry!) or bottom 10 which ended up marking this as the third most polarizing song of the rank down.

“Outside My Window” was released as the lead-off single from Sarah Buxton’s self-titled debut album where it became a Top 25 hit and the highest-charting single of her career. While this was able to muster up a top 30 showing in the 2010 Country Rankdown it exits well shy of that here. This flirted just outside of the top 40 for most of the time but did manage to sneak into the top 35 thanks to a top 5 from gardyfan and a top 20 from austin . There just wasn’t enough support for this from their fellow participants as this slide back further from two bottom 5’s from d3vin44 and .indulgecountry who loses a third straight bottom 5 (can he make it four?!).

“Me and Emily” was released as the third single from Rachel Proctor’s debut album Where I Belong where it became her first and only Top 20 hit. Thanks to the support this received in the early stages this looked to be a top 30 contender and remained as such until it hit trouble towards the last quarter of the submissions as it received four bottom 10’s and two bottom 5’s from .indulgecountry (his fourth in a row!) and SHOOTER (oh you two again...). And as much as it hurts to mention this Kanenrá:ke now has half of his top 10 eliminated.
