She's talented as hell (and especially impressive being my age--I'm 19 going on 20) but LOL, there's Kelly, Carrie, Jennifer, Lauren, Adam...Gabby surely will be in that list soon, but she's not at their level just yet. (I hope and think she will be eventually tho) Loving this Scotty vs. Lauren déjà vu! Unlike Alaina, Gabby has all the making of a star. She is ready to replace Carrie Underwood Strong, rather unfounded statement. I’m not sure anyone can ‘replace’ Carrie, or if anyone from the Idol franchise can replicate her success. Every successful artist rises to prominence differently and with a trajectory all their own. Comparing Gabby Barrett to Carrie Underwood on the strength of one single is not only premature, but a disservice to Gabby.

So don't jump to conclusion. Agree, you cannot judge by 1 single but she has what it takes to do it. And again Carrie is not the center of the universe (although some people think she is), it only takes 1 artist to dethrone her. Just saying.

When and if she ever does something on her own merit (that means without hanging on the every male coattail to be relevant) then you can include her at the end of that sentence. And that last sentence is so unnecessary ugh!1. Gabby is nowhere near that claim. She has the talent but Carrie Underwood is in a unique class: the class of Carrie Underwood. As I said though, Gabby will soon hopefully be among the all-time Idol icons list. 2. It is not Lauren Alaina's fault that country radio refuses to play her unless she sings with someone with a penis, let alone nearly any other woman. I added Lauren to the list because she has the talent and if her solo material was ever played she'd be at that all-time level by now. Not to mention she has started to inspire young girls the way she was inspired by the likes of Carrie. 3. I added that sentence as a joke so I don't see what's so wrong about it.

And that last sentence is so unnecessary ugh! Ha, it's funny you bring up 'that last sentence is so unnecessary' because that applies to you as well. She never does something on her own merit? Lauren's been through so much (her parents divorce, bulimia, broken engagement and especially her stepfather's death) and she's brave enough to open up about all of this on her songs. She actually never released a collaboration herself, all her songs are solo, all of the songs on her last album were written by her, how is that not her own merit? Also, she soldout her headlining tour. She has a number one single on her own too. Saying that she needs to 'hang on every male coattail to be relevant' makes you even more sexist than country radio. A lot of her songs should've been bigger hits but we know how country radio works. I know she isn't on the same league as Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood or Jennifer Hudson, but she's accomplished so many things since American Idol, she's still here 9 years later releasing new stuff, she evolved so much as an artist and as a songwriter and considering how hard it is for females to breakthrough and then to stick around, I put all of this stuff on her own merit. (sorry guys, I know this isn't the right place for this but reading that just made me so angry lol).

Yeah, I probably shouldn't have said anything either. Just derails the thread. My apologies to everyone. Getting back to the song: it's officially entered the Top 15 on Mediabase as of Sunday's update! So excited to see that and I can see this song becoming Gabby's first #1 hit (and her debut too!!)

When and if she ever does something on her own merit (that means without hanging on the every male coattail to be relevant) then you can include her at the end of that sentence. And that last sentence is so unnecessary ugh! I mean it speaks to something that so many artists (Chris Young, HARDY, Dustin Lynch, Jon Pardi, Kane Brown, and Rascal Flatts) want to collaborate her so they clearly see something that country radio (and you) don't really see. They all clearly see Lauren Alaina as a star (or at least someone who "Should" be a star). I admit I am biased, but Lauren Alaina has constantly fought to have her music heard on country radio for the past 8 to almost 9 years, and it is clear the industry and her fellow artists really want her to succeed and that country radio is the only thing from really preventing her from truly breaking out. Especially since her whole headlining tour sold out as well. I just don't get why you bring up Lauren Alaina is not one of the bigger successes at least in country music, as besides Scotty McCreery, Carrie Underwood, and Kellie Pickler, I would argue among country singers Lauren Alaina has had the most success especially given the amount of collabs and her tour. I think Gabby Barrett could easily pass her, but this post to me screams more of an attack on Lauren Alaina then something to build up Gabby Barrett.

Looks like this thread has calmed down a bit but let's get back to the topic of "I Hope", rather than former Idol contestants and how they all stack up, which has seemed to derail the thread the past page or so.

#1 country song on Apple Music. #91 overall. Great numbers despite not being top 10 on radio.

This song just moved ahead of Riley Green to eleven this morning. There are four songs ahead of her without bullets. This song is going to gain a bunch of spots the next week. Should be up to seven within this next week. Warner might have two female artists go back to back number one in the coming weeks. That is pretty impressive for a couple female artists. Although Ingrid had a little help.

Officially enters the Mediiabase Top 10 at #8 with a bullet of 512 which is also the highest in the whole Top 50. Look for this to easily hit #1 and I definitely think this song should also finish very high on the year-end radio charts later this year given the time it is peaking which is very refreshing for a female song.

People have previously mentioned how this is the first non-OTV female debut to do well since "Love Me Like You Mean It". How do the two's chart runs compare at this point? This song certainly had a ton of buzz around it before it was even sent to radio; I can't remember how buzzy Kelsea's song was...

I wonder if she is actually going to go around Ingrid. She is very close. I think she will, but I do think Warner Bros is definitely gonna try to manipulate the charts to get both women to #1 back to back, because holy hell it would be such a great headline to have two solo female hit #1 back to back and on both their debut singles nonetheless. I mean the last time two solo women hit #1 back to back was with Sara Evans "A Little Bit Stronger" and Miranda Lambert "Heart Like Mine" back in May 2011.

Is there a record somewhere, where two rookie female country artists first single went to number 1 back to back?

I couldn’t tell you the last time two “debut” solo female singles went #1 in back-to-back weeks but I believe the last time two solo female singles were #1 and #2 on Mediabase/Billboard (and went back-to-back at #1) was “A Little Bit Stronger” by Sara Evans and “Heart Like Mine” by Miranda Lambert in May of 2011.
