Can’t forget Chris Young and Miranda Lambert both from Nashville Star. Also Michael Ray won the singing competition called The Next. All in all I think American Idol has the most success on the country charts. I’m really surprised we haven’t heard anything from Gabby’s male country competition on the season she was on Caleb Hutchinson. Speaking of Nashville Star, there's also Kacey Musgraves too - she did have a top 10 radio hit with "Merry Go 'Round" (given how Kacey's being paid dust by radio, I'm kind of surprised radio took MGR to the top 10). Granted it was MUCH later than her appearance on the show. y'all forgot Gwen Sebastian? She had No.1 hit with Blake - My Eyes.

Good to see! With album bombs I think this has potential to peak lower than it would have but if the timing is right I could see it being top 20 or near it. It certainly deserves it,

Wow! It’s been a while since a top-tier Idol was this high. Maybe since Kelly’s Piece by Piece in 2015? Regardless, well done!

Otherwise she’s placed a bunch of songs in the 40s. Scotty also has gotten some songs in the 40s. These are the only recent examples I can think of

Considering that the Airplay era started almost 30 years ago, that’s pathetic.

Curious how many times this has happened for men. It hasn’t. Wait, seriously? No two debut singles have been in the top 10 at the same time ever? That's wild. I have no idea how to even attempt to find this, but what about "Drunk Me" and "Best Shot"? Both were OTV, debuts, and trailed each other for most of their chart run...

Yeah this is all the proof I need, "Best Shot" and "Drunk Me" literally #1 and #2 on the chart bulletins.billboard.com/country/country_update_1210.pdf

This song is continuing to be a massive hit, and should get to #1 within a few weeks. I also thought it might get to #1 on the HCS chart, as it's selling & streaming well, however "the bones" is continuing to gain overall audience thanks to non-country formats, and might block it from the top spot on that chart.

I feel like "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" and "Blown Away" might have done it at some point - of course WANEGBT shouldn't have been on this chart in the first place but... EDIT: Yep, on the chart dated October 27, 2012, "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" was #1 and "Blown Away" was #2 and this continued for 3 straight weeks.

"I Hope" is officially Gabby's first Top 5 song at country radio as she moves up 3 spots to #5 on Mediabase tonight gaining 815 spins tying Luke Bryan "What She Wants Tonight" for the second most spins gained during the week.
If it wasn't for the fact that the next two singles in line for #1 after "I Hope" are Warner Bros singles ("More Hearts Than Mine", "Nobody But You") I would say this song would for sure would be a multi week #1. Still hope it can somehow be a multi week #1 but at the very least this song should be the first female solo debut to hit #1 since Carly Pearce did with "Every Little Thing".

I don't think it was blocking NBY regardless. That said, I can see WMN going for a multi-week bb#1 with this, while getting More hearts a MB #1

Mainly because Warner Bros still gets to tout about having two debut females hit #1 back to back, we get a second solo female multi week #1 in the same year.

Could the powers within at Warner not push for two weeks of "I Hope" and THEN max out "More Hearts Than Mine"?

They can only really wait so long

Should go top 20 the week it goes #1 on radio. I had predicted a high peak for this from the beginning and I’m happy it did get that. Now It will be interesting to see if it can pass The Bones too at some point.

Now It will be interesting to see if it can pass The Bones too at some point. The Bones has a massive lead in overall audience, and is still continuing to climb at pop radio. I suspect unless Maren starts losing audience it will be hard for this song to pass her, which is a shame. I wish that the country HCS chart didn't factor in radio outside of country radio.

Given the monstrous hit that this song is, you would think Warner would be pushing a bit harder... Like, giving this a shot at Hot AC, pushing new promotional singles (she really only has three songs out), giving us an album date... It is amazing how enormous of a hit this has been with what seems like pretty minimal effort. Are there even any clues about what will happen after this has its time at #1? Next single? It all just seems so slow...

Up to #22 on the Hot 100. This is amazing! It’s been a long time since an Idol finalist got a debut single this successful. I guess since Phillip Phillips’ Home?

I think they just want to make sure they have the right songs and not just a bunch of filler. Not a good time to promote a album right now anyway.

Just like Jab820 said I wonder if this could do good at pop and hot ac radio like The Bones if it gets a push. I can’t even remember the last time an American Idol contestant would have that.

Carrie Underwood had "Before he Cheats" a big hit on many of the formats listed above. This song is a pure smash, i'm not sure WarnerMusicNashviille is prepared to push a female to crossover stations, only because they usually have a hard enough time getting females up the chart on their home format. This song is outperforming their expectations IMO otherwise they would have album news. ( when Jana Kramer had a top 3 hit with "why Ya Wanna" she said they rushed her album out.) I Hope it does crossover though, it has so much potential. side note. I LOVE SEEING SO MANY FEMALES CHARTING , ITS SO AWESOME.

This moved up to #2 on mediabase today. Will see if can it stays there or goes back to #3.

It shouldn't since Jordan Davis is heading down the chart.
