Artist: Eli Young Band Single: "Break It In" Label: Valory Music Company/BMLG Impact Date: July 29th, 2019 Impacts July 29th according to All Access. They released the song three weeks ago. The impact date says July 29th but I'm inclined to think that's the radio release date, since that hasn't happened yet.

I really like this one. I’ve been listening to it a lot the last couple of weeks. Very pleasant sonically and easily my favorite single of theirs since “Dust”.

Lmao. No posts since before this song went for adds over 3 months ago.
Anyways nearly 3 months after going for adds "Break It In" has only made it up to #58 on Billboard. Obviously recurrent airplay from "Love Ain't" is a factor for why this song is going so slow but I do think "Love Ain't" was probably a fluke in terms of these guys radio prospects.

Yeah, after seeing how little it did to move consumer interest, I never expected "Love Ain't" to reignite their career. It'll probably be their last hit. At least to their credit they were able to get one more, I guess.

I'm not sure if this is the end of Eli Young Band on radio. They're definitely someone who charts high once every couple years. Maybe they will be back again in 2022?

This just isnt a good song. It had potential, but it is clumsily written and production is flat.
I got on board for "love aint" after months of being subjected to it. But this just doesnt move the needle for me and is an instant station changer.

This one isn't done. It debuted at #50 on Mediabase and I know BMLG is still promoting it. They might give up in Q1 of 2020 but for now they're going to stick with "Break It In."
I agree with those here that EYB's days scoring radio hits is about up. "Love Ain't" was a really good researched song and they decided to stick with it for the better part of a year to promote it. Not sure they'll be able to do that again.

Enters country airplay top 40 at #40. I’m a little surprised this one is still chugging along, I keep thinking it’s close to being done. I’m still a little disappointed in this one, it feels bland for them.

I’m still a little disappointed in this one, it feels bland for them. I keep hoping they'll have a career resurgence. I doubt it'll happen though. This is one of 5 songs that will enter the country airplay top 40 tonight. 5 songs went recurrent. Caylee Hammack, Gone West, and Ryan Hurd I'm sure did and then 2 songs in the top 10 have as well. Nice little chart housecleaning this week!

Yes my love of all their other music, is the only reason I want to go get a decent peak, I don’t want them to disappear from radio yet.

I do think country radio has probably let this song get as high as it is going to get as this song lost almost 30 spins and 226k in audience this past week, and the past 7 weeks on Country Aircheck this song has amounted 3 adds in total and has gained under 100 spins in that timeframe as well. Maybe it can eek out a Mediabase Top 40 peak but that is best case scenario.
Out of all of the songs below the Mediabase Top 30 this is the one I don't see making the Top 30 at all, and not hard to see why when this song went for adds back in late July and over 6 months later it isn't Top 40 on Mediabase, and has sold and streamed poorly (music video released almost 3 months ago has 44 thousand viewers on YouTube, while in comparison a song with a similar amount of radio airplay, Lauren Alaina's "Getting Good" that music video has 2.2 million views on YouTube).

Valory finally threw in the towel on “Break It In” this week. Its lost 100 spins the past seven days and down to #50 on the rolling chart.
It reached #39 on Billboard Country Airplay but only #42 on Mediabase after spending over four months in the 40’s.
I’m a big EYB fan but nothing about this song stood out.

Looks like another song that will be going recurrent on Billboard for a second time just one week after re-entering. They really need to look at their policies so that this doesn't keep happening.

Looks like another song that will be going recurrent on Billboard for a second time just one week after re-entering. They really need to look at their policies so that this doesn't keep happening. The argument there is you have songs such as "Almost Home" by Craig Morgan, "Carolina" by Parmalee and "Love You Like That" by Canaan Smith, who go recurrent, re-enter, and go on to be top 10 or number one singles. I've never liked Billboard's recurrent rules, although I like them better now than when a song needed to fall below top 20 or 25 to be sent recurrent -- there would be quite a few artists with multiple songs clogging up the chart in the teens and 20's. Perhaps a recurrent rule where a song needs to meet an exact threshold (no grace weeks) in audience to be sent recurrent or be brought back, verses now where it doesn't take much for a song to go recurrent -- hence why we have re-entries so often. Labels certainly let Billboard know they're still working a single, which influences bringing them back, but here is a case where it's pointless.

Labels certainly let Billboard know they're still working a single, which influences bringing them back, but here is a case where it's pointless. Yeah, it's a hard balance for sure. I wish they were a little stricter on re-entries, though. If I remember rightly, "Almost Home" had to post 3-4 weeks of significant gains before Billboard allowed it back on. I wish they would take a stronger stance on that, rather than just letting it back on because a label is still working the song. Either that, or add in some sort of combination of Mediabase's three consecutive weeks, combined with Billboard's 20+ week rule, and not budge on it. (So if a song loses airplay in weeks 33, 34 and 35, it isn't coming back at all).
