I kid you not, I had a dream last night that the charts were so weak that Barry Manilow would actually debut at #1 with his new song. Does he have anything coming out soon?

Billboard needs to just spare us the think pieces on "Old Town Road" now. Just report the numbers and move along. I enjoyed reading it.

My only critique with that article is that I don't find OTR to be a gay anthem. I get Lil Nas X came out, and I commend him for doing it so early on in his career... but they are NOT playing OTR in gay clubs, LOL.
With that said, the song itself is a massive hit and appeals to all races and ages.... but the gays are not jamming out to it.

Yes, it's not a gay ANTHEM in traditional sense but surely gays find it more relatable than just a random rap track by traditional misogynists and homophobes.
Early stage, but don't think that we will have new entries in top ten on Hot 100 at all so Sunflower lives on.

TREMBLE IN FEAR OF YOUR OVERLORD, INDISTINGUISHABLE TRAP RAPPER #4,179!
On a side note, how much do you all see this week's albums impact? Obviously looking at chance but I also wouldn't count out re-entries for NF and a massive gain for TOWDMIBH considering it was gonna rise big even without the album

So what's the over under for 21 weeks for OTR at this point?

Isn’t Ransom like two months old? Why is it just now getting big. Also I don’t know how everything’s gonna play out but after OTR’s 17th Week I think it’ll start to drop more significantly. It’s already dropping a bit.

It’s already dropping a bit. They found their new unknown, mediocre trap rapper/song to boost up the charts. The last one Pop Out & before that was Murder on My Mind

I think Truth Hurts is going to be the one to take down OTR eventually, it's #1 on Rhythmic right now and hasn't peaked on US Spotify or Pop yet if I'm looking at it right. I think it'll pass Señorita because of Spotify streams.

I have never once heard it in a gay club.... even the Diplo mix.... and my friends range from 20-50 years old and none of them ever talk about the song, listen to it, or like it. Hell, the only time OTR is brought up in my group of friends is with regard to it breaking the record because they all know how much I love Mariah, LOL. Trust me, the gays are all jamming out to Lizzo.... not OTR.

Truth Hurts needs to pick up a lot on Youtube to get close to #1... At least OTR is finally going down on all metrics, even with remixes.

I still think Señorita is the next #1, it's kicking ass on radio and holding steady on Spotify and iTunes. Plus it's YouTube has always been great.

The people there didn’t really have a strong reaction to it one way or another; I saw/heard more good-natured, eye-rolling amusement than “this is my jam” sentiment. But yeah, it’s just not a gay anthem.

Not sure why there’s that much faith in Ariana debuting at number one. Why are still having this debuting at number one conversation lol

^Is this a new track from an upcoming album? She released one in August 2018, and then this past February, so, yeah, another album should be coming next month at this rate. :)

Why are still having this debuting at number one conversation lol Maybe because she had the #1, #2 and #3 song in the country in earlier this year? I do believe the next #1 is going to be a new song though, and Ariana is the only confirmed big release coming up. I don't think OTR will fall below "bad guy" or "Truth Hurts" just yet. Rihanna and Adele are two other big names with new music in the near future, and there's Gaga too but I'm just not sure about the kind of music she'll release.

The LA times article does not refer to the song as a gay anthem, it does reference that Lil Nas X is gay but spends the article discussing how it is basically a novelty song

BUT she did it twice in like 3 months and "buwygib" came pretty close. That's a hot streak if you ask me. ^Is this a new track from an upcoming album? She released one in August 2018, and then this past February, so, yeah, another album should be coming next month at this rate. It's unclear. She's already doing the whole Charlie's Angels soundtrack executive-producing gig so who knows. Are we going to get 3 Ariana Grande albums in 2019?

Meanwhile, you have someone like Lizzo who is doing Pride events in 100-degree weather and busting her ass up on that stage to give us a good show.

You and your white gay friends may be fuming but I am honestly happy Lil Nas X has the longest running #1 song by an LGBTQ artist and now he is going to have the longest run at #1 all by himself with his gay, black, 20 year-old ass from Atlanta. Again, I don't know about YOUR community, but what he has achieved is beautiful and should be celebrated. And I wouldn't worry about Lizzo much, her time is coming very very soon. She's still just an ally and I don't think "she gets paid to do pride shows" is a good enough excuse to write about her significance in the gay community, at least not before she becomes a pride regular a la Robyn, Carly Rae etc. Edit: Oh and everyone in my circles still makes references to this song and plays it pretty often. I would NOT call it a "gay anthem" but Lil Nas X's coming out story sure is a pride miracle.
