How did anyone on his team hear that song and not shrivel at those lyrics? I was surprised it wasn’t a bigger controversy tbh, he deserved to get more flak for it than he actually did

When all things align, higher airplay, album roll out, and SNL performance, this will definitely peak in the Billboard Top 5. 

i think the album roll-out for "After Hours" has been way more orchestrated than that of "Starboy." Now that we have a March 20th date, by then he can launch the next two singles for radio support, and the album release will help give those new singles a huge push (along with "Heartless" and "Blinding Lights"). In total I can see this album having 4-5 smashes. It's an interesting strategy that more artists should get used to. If you want multiple smashes on your album in the streaming era, the album shouldn't come until 4-5 months into the era. Great job this time around Team Abel.

Everyone here & on Popheads is sooooo impatient with this song. It’ll definitely pop off, it’s already 12 on the Hot 100 despite not peaking in any metric yet. “Heartless” is a slight roadblock at the moment because it’s gaining so much; it’s the only reason why this isn’t Top 10 on pop yet. I have no doubt this will blow up, but this is the US. Our charts move muuuuuuch slowwwwer.

I'm not sure this can happen. "The Box" tops it  in both airplay and streaming. Not to mention "Life Is Good" has also been steady in streaming and airplay is in the same neighborhood as "Blinding Lights." I think the highest he can go during the album release will be #3, maybe #2 by a small margin.

Yea, The Box is ahead in streaming and airplay...now. The album is a month away. Who’s to say the Box is still as strong? And I think there’s a good possibility Blinding Lights could have more airplay then it come album release week.

Impossible to say the box has peaked when the video isn’t out yet and judging by the scene caps the video gonna be a very big deal 

edited : would not at all surprise me if roody releases the video the same week as The Weeknd album release tbh
