I hope we get an explanation. They charted four albums in the top 20, yes, but Drake will more than likely chart 6 albums this week: Care Package at #1 with about 109K units along with the other 5 albums he's been charting weekly for months now: Scorpion, VIEWS, More Life, Take Care and Nothing Was the Same.

Care Package and Scorpion alone will have him above 130K units. I don't think all four of the Tool's albums moved that many units.

Not to talk about how Tool's only debuted one song on the Hot 100 while Drake has 10 songs on the Hot 100 this week.

He also pulled in more streams this week. He outdoes them by a sizeable margin in three important Billboard charts and metrics, so it's really confusing how he isn't #1.

But like you said, hopefully we get an explanation because I'll be interested in reading how the Artist 100 really works.

Doesn’t the artist 100 take into account Social media discussions and coverage and stuff? Drake having several albums chart isn’t really new or interesting the way Tool charting with multiple albums for the first time is.

Minus that, several publications wrote about Care Package being released, along with several reviews and hundreds of thousands of tweets (viral and otherwise) about Care Package and songs off it, so no, I highly doubt Tool's releasing their discography on digital/streaming platforms got anywhere close to that sort of social media engagement.

These are all part of the reasons why I'm so confused that they're #1 on the Artist 100 this week. The only categories Drake didn't win in were pure album/single sales. That's it.

I'm not American (and as far as how OTR performed in my country, it only peaked at #11 in Malaysia), so maybe my answer isn't worth much, but based on how I've seen Americans reacted to it on social media in addition to the news coverage of the song, it gives me the impression that the song is a massive cultural phenomenon there.

^True. In spite of that, Lil Nas X only was able to reach #2 in the Social 50, due to BTS's dominance at #1 (139 weeks out of 148 weeks at #1).

Drake also didn't chart in the Social 50, while Tool debuted at #40. If I remember correctly, the points there count 5% toward the Artist 100 and might have been the difference that allowed Tool best Drake to get #1 in the Artist 100.

Sounds like you followed the Drake coverage but didn’t check for anything around Tool. Even in my own social media following, I saw more about Tool than I did Drake so it’s less of a surprise to me. I am curious though because I’m sure Drake would have gotten more mentions on Twitter due to demographics alone but I definitely see the Tool angle as being a much bigger story.

It looks they applied to top 50 recurrent Hot 100 rule to Tool's older songs. Sober is #3 in Hot Rock Songs while Fear Inoculum was #4 three, so the former would have debuted in the Hot 100 without the rule applying to it. BTW, Tool managed to place 13 songs in the top 22 of Hot Rock Songs this week.

I'm surprised how poorly songs (from what I expected) from Drake's new album did in Streaming Songs. That in spite many of them being relatively high in Apple Music during the week.

Rose "Payola" Nylund oh, I definitely saw press about Tool and their discography finally being available online. I'm just saying that Drake's Care Package got more press. It trended higher on Twitter and more people were talking about it than the Tool's albums (which shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone considering the fact that Drake is a much younger artist than Tool as a band). There were also generally more articles written about Drake's Care Package than Tool's discography the past week, something you can Google yourself and verify.

It's really not that big a deal to me. I was just curious because Drake outperformed them in several metrics but two and they're placed above him, but Billboard has their methodology to these things.

There's nothing surprising about it. They're old songs that got released officially. They dominated Apple Music for the first two days and started to fall off rather quickly and they never took off on Spotify.

They mistaked "The Motion" for The Motto". I think they had the three Chance The Rapper songs as "!!!" because the artist's names weren't appearing at the time.
